My late wife and I saw John Farnham in New Jersey when he was on tour in the US with The Little River Band. They were the main show at a theme park and were doing two shows that day. We went to the first one and they were so wonderful we stayed and went to the second show. The Little River Band with John Farnham was a force to be reckoned with. It is too bad Capitol Records did not give them the support they should have. Everyone that got to see them loved them and John in particular and they were lifelong fans ever after. It worked out for John in the long run because talent like that just can't be held back. My prayers are with him as he currently recovers from health issues.

Yes, Adrian l totally agree, l have been watching Brett Garsed since l think 1985 he joined the John Farnham band. Brett had apparently sent his demos to many recording studios, but, then struck gold when he forwarded a copy to Glenn Wheatley, John’s Friend and manager, who being a bass player himself, from the Masters Apprentices and knowing a great musician when he heard him play, as did John, soon thereafter , and the rest is excellent history. You, may know a guitarist of Brett’s calibre was soon off to America 🇺🇸, and working with Nelson, and working and teaching at MIT America 🇺🇸. I was taught to play guitar years ago in Ringwood, Victoria as a young teenager, by the one and only Phil Buckle who has written songs for John Farnham, Burn For You, and others, he teemed up with Jack Jones and they were Southern Sons, often Phil and Jack would play and record with John Farnham’s band. But, yes, l agree, Adrian, Brett Garsed is one of our finest , kind regards, Mark 🎸 🎼 🎶 👍 🇦🇺

Still good but as good. Nah but can't hold it against him been 30+ years since this concert A) if you can sing like this ever well done B) If you can sing like this at 70 not possible. Doesn't siing Help or When The War Is Over anymore or the real big note in You're The Voice. Progression of life. How many singers can sing as well at 70 as they did at 30? Nobody. Not The Voice anymore but he's still pretty bloody good.

Whispering Jack, released in October, became the highest-selling album by an Australian act in Australia, and peaked at No. 1 on the Australian Kent Music Report Album Charts for a total of 25 weeks. As of 2006, it was 24x platinum indicating sales of over 1.68 million units in Australia alone. The album was released internationally on RCA/BMG and peaked at No. 1 in Sweden, No. 3 in Austria, and Top 20 in Norway. In August 1988 it returned to the Australian Top Ten. Other Australian singles were December's "Pressure Down", which peaked at No. 4, March 1987's "Touch of Paradise" and October's "Reasons".
Farnham followed with Jack's Back Tour, an initial itinerary of eleven performances was thought to be enough considering they were up against tours by Michael Jackson and Billy Joel, but after high ticket sales, it was extended by eight more shows and use of larger venues. At that time, Jack's Back Tour was the highest grossing tour by an Australian act. John Farnham Band now consisted of Garsed on lead guitar, David Hirschfelder on keyboards (ex-Little River Band), Macainsh on bass and Angus Burchill on drums. Farnham won six of the inaugural 1987 Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) Awards for 'Album of the Year', 'Single of the Year', 'Highest Selling Album', 'Highest Selling Single', 'Best Male Artist' and 'Best Adult Contemporary Album'. On 19 July 1987, TV series Countdown broadcast its last show, the 1986 Countdown Music and Video Awards with Farnham winning the 'Best Album Award' for Whispering Jack.

When you listen to a studio album, you have to remember that it’s take after take and mixed and engineered to get it right. If you ever want to know how good an artist is, you watch/listen to live performances. It’s a one shot deal. John is part of a club whereby they actually sound better when it’s live and raw. Many, many so called performers have been caught lip syncing because they cannot sing without technology. This was the first live gig I saw. I was 8. I wasn’t at the gig but I saw it on telly. It greatly impacted me and I have been to so many live gigs. From the streets to pubs. From clubs to arenas. Live renditions are always my go to. Outstanding job by John and his band. Proud to be an Aussie! 🇦🇺

Australian singer John Farnham will plays his album Whispering Jack in full at a series of A Day on the Green concerts at wineries across the country.
Whispering Jack is the highest-selling Australian record of all time, and the second highest overall behind only Meatloaf’s A Bat Out of Hell. It sat at the top of the Australian charts for 25 weeks, going 24 times platinum. It was also the first Australian album to be manufactured on CD.
The album includes massive hit You’re the Voice, a song that every single Australian other than Malcolm Turnbull knows the words to. Farnham last toured the album in 2011 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
John Farnham retired in 2002 only to return two years later for a tour with Tom Jones, and has embarked on several comeback tours since. Which is fair enough, because after all, we ‘gotta make ends meet, before we get much older.
Farnham will be supported on the tour by fellow Australian musical icons Daryl Braithwaite and Russell Morris, Grammy Award winner Richard Marx, and ’90s pop-band Bachelor Girl, who are reforming for a 20th-anniversary tour.
General-public tickets go on sale Friday July 13 2018 at 10am.

Also, listening to this as I type, I love head phones on listening to
John, the music fills your whole mind body and soul, (yes I’m typing to the beat of the music atm lol)
I have to close the blinds too as I have to walk around the house doing chores to the beat of him singing and the music, the neighbours would wonder why I’m moving around the house like a loony lol 😂

This is so nostalgic....But a bit disingenuous though… Not really the Whispering Jack live concert at all but a mash of concerts from that time. Should have mashed in the the performances with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra too! I was 16 when Whispering Jack burst onto the charts…. I had always loved John and had followed his career, especially during the LRB days, but the moment, the very first time I heard “You’re The Voice”, I knew the song and the album was going to be absolutely phenomenal! 38 years later I still remember every single lyric of every single song on the album! I played that album pretty much non stop for 2+ years….❤ John is a national icon and will always be loved and cherished by us Aussies. He is humble, funny and just so damned down to earth. A man that has always been proud of being an Aussie, despite being born in England, a man we all adore. A man who gave up the chance of international stardom, to stay true to who he was and to stay with his family. ❤ Still have the original vinyl of this album stashed away, pretty worn out from all those years of playing it. 😅 Yes, back in the day it was all about vinyl and cassettes! 😂 I was never a cassette person, vinyl was always the preference. Pity it’s all digital these days…just doesn’t have the same sound. 😢 Much as I love John taking on “When The War Is Over”, this will always be a Chisel song for me…but the version of John singing this with Jimmy was epic!!!! On another note… guess this performance was before Lisa joined John as a backup singer…only Venetta and Lindsay in this concert. Talk about loyalty.. those 3 have always been behind John, just can’t imagine John without them. John has always treated his backup vocalists and band as family….not many artists do that….certainly not in modern times!!! I love the version of John, Venetta and Lindsay singing Amazing Grace so much that I played it at my Dads funeral last year. ❤ So damned sad that we will probably never hear John sing live again…..😢 Cancer is a bitch!!!

  • @Cyannah117

Love that John did “One”…such an awesomely different take on his original, much different from the laid back version he recorded in the 60’s whilst being the “good boy”. If John had performed One in this way back then he would have been outcast! 😂 Love that he also included some of his songs from his LRB days.

  • @Cyannah117
    @Cyannah117 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

You’re The Voice is a song that is just as relevant today as it was 38 years ago…a song that will always be relevant unless things change. This song has become the unofficial Aussie anthem… a song that is known by everyone, a song whose lyrics are sung out loud and proud every single time it is heard. ❤ No matter how many hits John had before, this song is his legacy. ❤ As a point….check out the Firefight Australia concert from 2020.. he was 71 at that time and still killed it!!!
