Eh, I find that it's the people who were bullied who could very easily become bullies themselves and NEVER get the self-awareness that they've become one themselves. They get so defensive because they grew up thinking themselves as victims that they either didn't think they could possibly become the bullies OR they think they deserve being the top dog this time around. Meanwhile, reformed bullies become so self-aware of themselves when they realize how awful they were when they were younger.

One of the things this show did so well is demonstrate that everyone is a bully sometimes, even if they don’t realize it at the time or they themselves have been victims of bullying. It’s no surprise that Bernadette got her moments of being a bully in the show.

when was it ever established that Penny bullied others? being popular does not mean you are a bully, I have been bullied by unpopular kids before which made them more inclined to bully me in order to establish some kind of tyrannic hierarchy that in the end collapsed by graduating elementary and going to high school where these bullies realised what kind of losers they really are.

You don't understand how sit-coms work. There is a formula that dictates the type of personality distribution among the characters. This is done for laughs or other purposes. It's essentially a necessary vehicle for the writing.

It bother me a bit how the series itself points out how toxic the characters have become, all the sitcom context aside, and then proceeds to.... pretending like it never did so in the first place.
Look, I'm not asking for sitcoms to be family friendly or whatnot. The main thing that makes sitcoms good is exactly that they pick up things that normally would be seen as borderline sociopathic behavior and make it comical. Fiction is fiction, reality is reality.
    BUT.
If you decide to point out how your characters' behavior is clearly not healthy, go through with it. How I met Your mother did this with Barney, and I find it one of the best storylines in sitcoms overall. If, on the other hand, you have no intention of actually redeem said characters, then don't even start.
The audience is seeing this aware that things aren't meant to be taken serious, so even if it starts bothering them they will just gloss over it and say "it's just a joke. Not the best joke, but a joke nonetheless". Suspension of belief is in pretty much every show, story and so on. But if you decide to stop treating something that in the real world would not be acceptable as a joke, start treating it as it would be in the real world, and THEN go right back to treating it as a joke, all you've done is destroy that suspension of belief that makes it possible for the audience to watch the show without feeling outraged.
You then find yourself with a show where people no longer know whether they should or not tolerate the character's behaviors.
This isn't just Bernadette. I think only Amy and Sheldon didn't suffer this treatment. Even Raj and Howards were victims of this. We had literally an ENTIRE EPISODE with Raj being made aware that Howard's jokes were actual bullying and made him treat them as he should. The episode ends with Raj and Howard pushing each other on a trampoline or whatever and they go from arguing to having fun. They stop fighting over something rather serious because they just so happened to be having that same fight on a trampoline. Nothing is solved, they just go back to being friends. If you aren't even going to solve a single damn thing, then why introduce something that would have probably warranted us quiet the story arc? This goes beyond destroying suspicions of belief for no reason, it is genuine bad writing.
I mean this. By the end of this show, the main reason why I was still watching was because I was a faithfull watcher who loved what the show used to be. There was hardly anything else. Penny and Leanord had reached a dead-end since we had a WHOLE EPISODE explaining how Penny had no intention of having kids (which the finale said screw it and made her pregnant anyway). Raj got close to having a girlfriend (it was done terrible but at that point I was like "who cares"), but in the end he ended up alone (you can say all you want it was a healthy ending and that he didn't need a girl to be happy, doesn't change that was expecting him to find someone who actually liked the kind of person he was. Not to mention the episode where he was bullied by his previous girlfriends which to this day I'm asking myself who thought that was a good idea). Howard and Bernadette had basically reached a dead-end and I myself didn't care much about them anymore enough to look forward to anything. Stuart finally got a good life, but the show did not give a crap about that so it hardly mattered.
I never expected Sheldon and Amy to get a nobel prize in the first place, so really, there was absolutely no narrative that I was looking forward to see the end.
Honestly, at the end the show was a shadow of what it used to be. I think even the writers realized that they were mostly all out of juice since the focus of the series was originally in Leanord and Penny and Sheldon (who was there mostly as a comic relief) and then it switched basically leaving Leanord and Penny in a toxic marriage and focusing on Sheldon and Amy who actually had a functional relationship (WHICH THE SHOW FREAKING POINT OUT AS WELL). The series literally switched MC's halfway through.
P.S. It's amazing how I started this comment to point out how the show destroyed the suspension of belief unnecessarily and ended up with an essay complaining about how the series at the end was bothering me (I actually liked the finale, where the writers destroyed the suspension of belief in a far better way. Not the best, but the end was good enough to cover for it).

I get that the writers wanted to contrast Bernadette's personality from her size and voice, but that twist turned me off of her character bc IMPO they took it way too far. They really could have developed her character into a wise woman with a less intense bipolar-like personality. I mean come on, this is a sitcom, not a sequel to the movie "Sybil"! 😂😂 This is an excellent scene though. Very well written. She just didn't learn the lesson which makes for a stagnant character. Sometimes life's lessons can be super harsh, but we can only grow if we learn from those lessons. They could have backed off the extreme bipolar-like intensity from there on through to the series end. The snark could've stayed to keep her character interesting, but with less intensity. That's all. 🤷

That would explain why she married a weak child like Howard. She would never be able to live with a man who wouldn't put up with her crap. In fact, she would never attract a strong-willed man in the first place so Howard is the best that she could ever get.

I hated what the writers did to Bernadettes character. She started out as sweet, kind, inteligent person. And they turned her, (along with Penny) into mean spirited, nasty, selfish monsters. By the end of the series.. they coulda killed off Bernadette in some sort of accident and no one would've cared at all. She was THAT despicable of a character. Was a shame. They did her character wrong.

Bernadette was a pretty abusive character , however being a pretty women she gets away with it , if the tables where turned and this was a man the Character would off been writen out the show. However this reflects real life many women are abusive and get away with because they are women , so i just watched a sence where Bernadette makes Harold sell his scooter because she dont like it then he has to give her the money from the sell , Feminist would Explode if a man done that to a women. The more you watch big bang the more you notice bernadette abusive controling behaviour to be fair she is my least favouite Character
