  • A labor contract for thousands of unionized health care workers across five states and Washington, DC expired, which can potentially triggeri the largest health care strike in US history. More than 75,000 health care employees who work at hundreds of Kaiser Permanente facilities plan to strike from October 4 through October 7 if a labor deal is not reached.

It is sad when healthcare workers were considered essential during the pandemic but they can't pay them a living wage. My son in law is a dialysis nurse for Kaiser and she's burnt out because she says there's such a staff shortage that there's 4 nurses taking care of 75 patients and now she's found out one nurse is leaving for a different job.
I am a medical transport driver and several times I've had to turn around and pick up my client because Kaiser canceled their appointment without notifying them because the doctor told the staff that he/she had to many appointments to handle.

They can’t be paid a living wage when they support out of control spending that makes the money they are paid worth less. Does no one understand what democrats are doing? Democrats use unions to increase the tax base. They support union wage hikes because they know the more they(the workers) get paid the more they can take from them in taxes. The real problem is pay!! We can't afford to live where we work. Our union has our contract high jacked for Futuro Health and Allied Up. Futuro Health students are dues paying members of the SEIU-UHW community division. They make this a mandatory requirement to be in the program. They pay $20 a month. Allied Up employees are SEIU-UHW members. They are a registry and undermine our contract. DAVE REGAN and SEIU-UHW are financially gaining from this!! This is a conflict of interest. Not one DUES paying member voted to have this included in our contract. Dave is asking for 300 million, 75 million each year over 4 years. In the 2019 contract it is written that Kaiser will give $130 million, and they are not obligated to give anymore. The initial ask by SEIU-UHW was 7%,7%,6.25%, and 6.25%. The union has now reduced the ask to 5,5,6.25,6.25. Inflation is at 8.7, and we didn't have the common sense to ask for 10%. We need parity for California workers, and that isn't even an ask on the table. We need liveable wages!! Take Futuro Health off the table.

KP should staff, and pay retention to long term staff for their loyalty and their valued service to the communities they serve.
KP staff deserves better, so that they can serve patients better. I don't want my community unhealthy, but if I'm struggling to stay healthy myself, that's going to compound peak illness seasons. Surely KP should be able to see this.

Do you want to work in the United States? You got a pay the people so that they can have the life that they were promised to have for being United States citizens that is why these corporate America has been bringing in slaves from other countries, and actually increasing migration, and actually increasing illegal immigration, because the illegal immigrants are being hired by these corporate to so they can pay cheaper money to human labor. Corporate America is the problem with immigration, not the government. The government is trying to mitigate migration and it’s been about it by corporate America cause I don’t wanna pay Americans a fair wage.

All Americans are having difficulty purchasing food, purchasing clothing, purchasing energy, and other essential needs under the Biden economy. We see this across-the-board, but this is becoming evident with our Democrat party union base workers who are now striking or higher wages in better working conditions brought about by the Biden administration. We didn’t have this issue under the previous administration. At that time we remember an article by the Wall Street Journal that reported that during the Trump administration lower and middle income Americans were receiving a higher percentage of wage increase than upper class Americans. Black unemployment was at a historic low level. We were also energy independent, according to the EIA.

The science of the future won't need human workers, leaving more profits for the owners and nothing for the surplus to requirement workers. Strikes are a very good way to speed up the destruction of work. If you are successful with a strike, the employer will start finding new ways to downsize his staff exposure and at the same time increase profits. In time the only job left will be that of a government subsidised consumer.

@@elizabethheyenga9277 It won't make any difference in the long term. This is the future that we have blindly walked into. People did warn us, but we thought it was all science fiction.
