Traxxas Xmaxx- Hobbywing Max6 1100kv Best Basher Combo?!?

  • เผยแพร่เมื่อ 29 มิ.ย. 2020
  • Welcome to Steel City RC channel. Today I took out the Xmaxx for a test run. I put the Hobbywing Max6 1100kv 5687 motor combo in it. Using a WFO mount and mod 1.5 35T spur and a RC Monster 20T mod 1.5 pinion. To cool the motor and esc I used two fans made by Jason Shedd off of facebook. I show them in the beginning of the video. Is this setup possibly the best basher combo to use in this truck? I think so. The 800kv is too big and heavy with the max5 IMO. Time will tell how I like it. For now it is pretty crazy. Next is the BMX track to try it out.

I was into tmaxx back in early 2000s. Raced them amd never had a emaxx. Now many years later these xmaxx came out. I have yhe cmaxx amd xrt both are ultimates. Getting ready to put big electronics in it as well. So much more fun.

This build is wicked, really well done, I am copying this build, probably gonna go with a 20/40 gearing setup for mine. Keep the torque up, should be plenty fast. Your X looks to be sooo fast the way you have geared it. 👍🏼👍🏼

Hello! Thank you brother!! I think that setup will do you well. They key is keeping the max6 cool. A big fan seems to be working well for me. I ran it in 90 degree weather full tilt for a solid 15 minutes bashing around. The temps never got over 130 degrees. As far as speed. Ya know I have never put a GPS on it. I need to out of curiosity. I would guess 50mph? Either way I am very happy with it. I have a few other videos with this setup. You will do good with that gearing. May even be able to pull taller tires. OH, WOWZERS !! What the hell !!! Super badass !! My X-maxx is bone stock, but I want to upgrade .Between the Max 5 and the Max 6, which one is the drop in , with no modding ? I hear a lot of the stock esc's get smoked pretty early , they don't last long . I really don't want to do much more upgrading than that . Do you think I will need any more modding than that ? The HW max6 is drop in. It will work wonders on the stock motor. Basically take the stock esc out and use 3M double faced tape on the max6 to secure it to the chassis. I liked mine stock too. But the cush drive plastic let my spur deflect and crushed the teeth off. So I went with this 1100kv combo max6. Thanks for stopping by 🤘👊

I think the max 5 set up seems super bulky. I’m building one now but it seams overkill and too heavy. I could be wrong but why not use a little higher kv set up that’s a little smaller. Seams like it would be a better set up. I’m going to test and run a bunch of set ups and make a video. I think there’s improvements in theses set ups we all are doing. They are fun but I think I can come up with a better maybe cheaper setup that won’t break diffs and stay light and keep cool temps. I’m on a mission! You all will probably see my results around winter time. Have fun everyone!

I know this is an old video. Would have been nice to see a full throttle pull at some point.
I just finished installing a spektrum 5687/1100kv in mine with a max6. I'm starting with 25/50 (mod1) gearing as that should put me 3-4mph faster than 21/50 did with the stock motor. I had the stock motor blow the rotor apart on me on my 3rd run. The truck was used, so I don't know how abused it got before I got it. I run at a grass bmx track and there are a few "big" jumps that I was able to clear with 20/50 and the stock motor, but barely. Hoping to get out and try this new setup this weekend.
I saw in other comments that your at 3+ years with the max6/5687-1100kv. Are you still running the 20/35 gearing? That's WAAAAAAY taller than I'm starting at.

What is up? In my opinion the max6 and 1100kv motor geared correctly is better for the Xmaxx. The max6 is about the same size as stock so it fits down in yhe same spot. Keeping center of gravity lower. The max5 is definitely a better ESC. But it is much bigger and heavier than the max6. So if you use the correct gearing and a couple high output fans. The max6 does very very well. Been nearly two years with this combo and it still impresses me. So really it is up to you. The max5 will allow more gearing than the max6.
