  • I've been going to fashion week for several years and thought I would share some of my photography tips to help you get the images you want, whether it be for your blog, instagram, or just for fun.
All the images in this video were shot be me, from various shows, either at London, or Paris Fashion Week.
If you think I left anything out, or there's something else you want to know, leave a comment and I'll make sure to reply!
    Happy Shooting! :)

Another very good video Jay. Sound advice and good shots to illustrate it. Three shoots coming up for me next week so will be trying to put to good use all the advice you gave me when we met. Thanks. Andrew.

Really nice pictures, i'm excited to get shooting this fashion week now :) I have an 85mm prime and 24-70mm zoom. What do you recommend to use and settings? Do you recommend a speed lite too?

For runaway, 70-200 IS 2.8. That is all you need for models. Come early and take a spot at the end of the runaway. Usually no flash is allowed... don't worry, the better the show, the better the lightning. When the show is poor, nobody will complain about the flash.
For backstage, the lens you mentioned should be fine. Perhaps you can add 50 mm 1.4, that is quite cheap.

How do you get the job in the first place? I really want to do more backstage photography. :)

+NiklasHL varies. Sometimes I've been there for magazines and publications. Sometimes for designers. Sometimes for PR's.

Usually when I’m back stage I’ll use longer prime lenses so I can get close up without getting in peoples way
