Great video! Just applied to take the civil service test to become an officer in Trenton. After watching some of the training videos for NJDOC the PT for corrections looked very intense so hopefully if everything goes well I’ll be starting the academy sometime this summer. SUBSCRIBED

Followed your post since your Atlantic City resigning video. I was born in Camden, raised in Woodbury. Graduated from Woodbury Jr. Sr. High School. I retired from the Air Force Security Forces, my primary was Security, and I’ve also worked Law Enforcement and several Special Duty Assignments. I have recently retired from the Department of Homeland Security TSA at the Philadelphia International Airport. It sounded strange that at an Academy you had to “Bring” your food. And it tells me what type of “System” you are in if they are allowed to “Throw Away” your food, something they didn’t pay for or reimburse. When I retired I had no Intentions for Camden Police, only the Sheriffs Department, County Park Rangers and Rutgers Police. It was untimely for me to take the first test, I didn’t have my car anymore, I had a broken watch and no glasses. I had to take the test at a High School near Atlantic County. I made it by bus just in time and was seated towards the back where I couldn’t see the Clock or Screen. I didn’t finish the test. Nor received 5 points. The second time I tested I had Glasses and a watch and scored well, but no 5 points. I saw several people fired from the County Park Rangers for several things including theft. It was close to two years, so I applied to TSA. When my Top Secret Clearance came through, something I had already had in the Military, both the County Park Rangers and Rutgers Police sent me offers for an opening, I never answered. A young Puerto Rican guy I knew had to sue Camden Fire Department for a Job and won. I also tried The Federal Bureau of Prisons, and they never gave me the straight talk until I showed them a copy of Federal Laws dealing with discrimination. The Camden Police has changed a lot since it is now considered County. Before that they were nothing but a Gang of Murderers and Crooks. Good luck to you, and stay safe.
I start the Fort Worth police academy in January. This one's very paramilitary, and the current class, which started in August, already had 14 people quit.
@@Nrivera9123 My academy starts Monday. I'm nervous as hell for the next 9 months, but a little excited. I was told by one of my classmates during orientation today whom was in the previous class that quite a few of them were being recycled due to injuries. Can't wait.
Police are not paramilitary. I served both Army and Navy and did police work in the past. Where that term came from I can only guess. Police are civilians.

@@jasminmarie7521 tbh just get in good physical/cardio shape and whatever you think you knew about law enforcement just forget about it. The best advice I can give you is 1) be reachable 2) stay off the instructors radar 3) don’t talk or try and do too much 4) just stay out the way
That’s difficult to answer lol everybody is diff. For me it wasn’t that difficult getting in other people it takes them a few chances. Really depends on the department and the timing that you apply
Listen to your leadership/ instructors, get in shape, pay attention in class and don't be afraid to ask questions, study hard. Work together with your classmates and work as ONE team. Remember whatever you do your wrong and you will be pushed. You're going to be yelled at don't take it personal just keep your head up high and push through.
Tbh I would try to become SLEO2 and skip SLEO1. Sleo 1 don’t really do much but parking tickets and things like that. I don’t even believe they carry a firearm on duty

No I didn’t need any college experience. Atlantic City police did not require it. I only went to Camden county for the academy

Tbh idk I feel like they change a lot bc ppl would transfer like a month after getting hired 😂 it may be 2 year contract but I’m not 100%

Yeah we got paid I think it was about 13 a hour every other week & No I didn’t have to stay there I got to go home every night
$13 an hour? Chicago you get $1,700 every pay check in the academy
