I absolutely love this figure. I have the original Jive for robot mode and keep the Jive X version in alt mode. It’s gorgeous and probably my favorite alt mode in my collection.
I got the toon esthetic version of FT Jazz for $130 on show z. I prefer toon accurate but I really like the real world details of this Jazz. Especially in vehicle mode. I might pick this up if the price goes down. $220 is a bit too much
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I like the deco a lot with the gold wheels but I paid like $122 for the original on showz, so I don’t know if I can justify paying almost double for those extra goodies
For the race cars: jazz, mirage, wheeljack, and smokescreen I prefer them tampoed/ stickered up for the real world look in car mode and that showing through in bot mode. Jazz especially looks too plain without it all.
I love this version of the figure. It is the first FTs X version I have, and I am very happy with it. That paint is spectacular. I bought it for the alt mode, but it almost makes me wish I had two with this deco
Absolutely gorgeous figure. But... my collection is toon. When i started, toon wasn't a thing. This is why i also have the toyworld Jazz. Even though I swapped him out, I'm still gonna keep him. If done right, the same mold can satisfy both sides of the isle. Powerglide aside, Fanstoys have really hit a good stretch recently.
I love this toy look and while I think he looks great, I kind of like the cartoon look more as it's just so simple and clean. This is especially true in alt mode as I didn't think I'd would like it over the toy alt mode. With that said, I'm the exact same as I kept the toon in robot while the toy in alt as he's a race car and race cars needs sponsorships. I did the same for Xtransbots Overdrive as I kept the original in robot while the yellow color version in alt. I just didn't realize all the decals were stickers and not painted on.
Not to poo poo anything here because I'm more of a toy guy than I am toon, but what difference would it make if you slapped the stickers from Twi hacks on a first wave version of this versus the toy coloration itself? Because toy hacks has a good sticker sheet to make them look like the toy. One thing I would have liked them to done has changed the colors of the headlights and windows to a tinted or smoked plastic versus blue. Anesthetic more similar to the Nissan's for example then the ultra Blue windows from a cartoon. The only reason why they're blue in the cartoon is to denote the fact that they are shiny transparent glass, not really blue and tint. Instead of show contrast and reflection. But on the toy I think it would have looked better if it were transparent plastic. I actually think they did a good job with the coloration on swerve for example. I like how they did the translucent orange for his windows if I think that works, but that probably be my only complaint about this reissue because I would have liked a different color windshield and such.
Well it kinda depends on what you’re after, if you don’t mind the stickers eventually peeling off as time goes on then yes it’s a great cost effect alternative, but people are more specific liking that the decals are printed, they won’t peel rub off or get a bubble under them, and also the wheels are a nice change
I like it, but definitely prefer the original toon version, (I have 2!) as I want my collection to look as close to the cartoon as possible, would probably buy this for a stand alone figure, if it wasn't so expensive though?!
Weird that you did a vid on this guy today as I just opened my FT-48X up early this morning before my kids woke up for school. Not even going to transform it, he's going next to Prime and will stay there in bot mode!
I’m thinking about ordering Jive. Is he fragile? I read comments in other videos about “sliding pins in his chest” that fall out with very little pressure. Is that true?
Yes this very thing happened to mine! I emailed fanstoys, and they said to super glue the pins back in, which didn't really help, but tbh, once he's transformed into either mode, he has enough tabs, that he is very solid regardless, so I wouldn't let that put you off?! I simply bought a second one as I love it so much, and want to see him in both modes !😂
I got the original last year and it’s amazing. No issues at all. Easily the most impressive figure I own by a long way but he is complex and he does command your attention when you transform him. It isn’t fragile but you will need to get used to the transformation because it takes a lot of time to make sure you’re doing it right, i.e. without damaging him or scratching the paint. I’ve gone through the process multiple times now and it’s fine. Totally worth it and I’m certain you’ll love it as much as I love mine!

That is the best way to display them and I think I will keep this in alt mode

I think this one is selling out everywhere at that price because they made way less of these than the toon version
Both versions do look great though
If this wasn’t so expensive I would definitely pick this up
Yep that price is a bit outrageous

Oh man can't wait for Fanstoys to release their versions of wheeljack and smokescreen.
Very true which is why I can not seem to get rid of the first Takara Wheeljack because it looks interesting and all that toy nostalgia

Yep the FT X figures are fun with all the extra paint apps and really are special
This reminds me, I have the G1 Cookie Crisp Jazz!
Let’s get back to base! Fun vid! That alt mode is fire.

There is nothing wrong with the Toyworld Jazz and it really is a Cool figure!
Really good review Mike .I love that one. I cannot believe you even transformed it ..because of the paint .
I was nervous a few times that I would scratch something but it held up very well!
This one got the jive for being Jazz
He does have all that Jive

Side by side I do like the X version but in a display there would not be a notable difference
He does look nice. I am almost fully Newage only now, no MP, but if I did buy one it would be Jazz.
You should check out the Magic Square Jazz you may like it
You should leave him in Alt Mode, especially since you have toon version too.
Be nice if they made G1 Transformers for 3.75 inch figures and you could seat them inside the Transformers
That Pangu Prime is nearly the right size for that but not sure the figures will actually fit in there
@@tydiriumhanger1320 let’s see if they dare to engineer the Autobots, could be a challenge
1:55 😂😅😆😁😄
There has to be an explanation LOL

I would not have transformed it except for the vid to show how it looks with all that new Deco
sent some more pics over as got all me shelfs sort off setup now chris
Awesome the 19K is coming soon! Thanks

I bought the original version a year ago with no issues, depends on the copy my copy was fine

I have 2 copies of this mold and no QC issues but I have been super careful with the transformation and no super dynamic poses
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I’ve taken my copy to another state to do a photo shoot and did some vigorous posing with no issues
Wait, he’s smaller than the first FT offering?
No it probably is the difference in poses
Because I have a transformer illness I got this. While already having the first version
Well it looks great and will be one of those oddities that never get made again
Is the normal jive taller than jivex?
Nope. Same figure, just different deco.
No just slightly different poses
I got him a while ago and I love em, but you paid $220? I got em for $200 on bbts with tax and shipping
I never even saw him on BBTS. Strange they charged more for the standard than ShowZ but less for the X
@@tydiriumhanger1320 he was up for like an hour because a few canceled their orderd and I was able to snag em
Why was showz $220? US retail was $190
I paid $180 on BBTS so I agree why is ShowZ so expensive?
The first batch was cheaper at ShowZ. They charged more for the second batch because they could.
@@BWiskey3is he Stil available on bbts
I think they only got a few extras sourced outside of Fanstoys and had to pay more. When I ordered this everywhere else I checked was sold out
