The biggest problem in my opinion is wave 2 had no face paint. If the company would have corrected the problem then I think a lot of people would still be collecting. But I think a lot of people were very disappointed in the company after that point.
Agreed! I really liked Wave 1 but Wave 2 was a huge let down that went uncorrected. By the time of Wave 3 I lost interest as Hasbro had begun stepping up their game and making better figures.
And Brian "the Bernie Sanders of toy industry" said that he saw no big differences between flint and Lady Jaye with the rest of the wave... Very irresponsible and disappointing
Don’t forget Dr Mindbender, Bazooka and Alpine, Serpentor, Vipers, Beachhead, Dreadnocks, Rock n Roll, and too many more to list. They could crush it if they keep it cool and steady. Sorry I know this is a super late reply to your comment 😂
All good points. I didn't cancel every figure I had on preorder but I did cancel some. All of these Ultimates! are just becoming too expensive in relation to other smaller companies that are pulling off better figures at half the price such as Jada Toys.
Great video. This is exactly what I was wondering about this morning as there have been no announcements or previews at SDCC. Very disappointing. If they're going to go with no campaign for preorders on new waves, I'm not sure if that will hurt or help them. I was really hoping for the next wave to be something like Shipwreck, Spirit, Firefly, Scrap Iron. Really hope it's not the end of the line.
If they do another wave I want the Dreadnoks; they have Zartan so it only makes sense (I don't like the look of the Classified Dreadnoks). And the movie figures, namely the big three: Golobulus, Pythona and Nemesis Enforcer.
I think every one of these are worth the price. I don’t collect classified, but I’m a huge SUNBOW guy, and I will admit that I voted with my wallet on wave 6. They need to keep up the pace they have kept for the most part. I will buy every one of these if they keep the line away from DIC. There are too many more great characters for them not to keep going. I have a feeling this part of the take over at Super7 and they want them to be more mainstream. I’m fine with the downgrade on packaging if they just keep great characters coming. Hopefully it don’t turn into a hunt to get this line. I’d also love to see some resolve on the Lady Jaye and Flint debacle. I love this line though. I’ve paid full price for multiples of the Cobra Army Builder waves too.
Ultimates are way better than Classified, it's that price... they're so spot on retro, they're a collector's dream come true... Super7 needs to abandon the box & extras and just put them on a retro card, their main weapons, 2 extra hands , 0 extra heads and that could get the price down & sells up
It looks like Super7 listened to me... I just saw on Targets website Ultimates Lion-O on a card no extra heads, just his Claw & Sword for $35 ... now if they do that with GI Joe it will be a game changer for them
What kills me is if you buy it from other places, you don’t know exactly when it shows up. I’d rather just pay it upfront and just have it shipped to me, but sometimes those pre-order sell out pretty fast, but I picked up some off Amazon and Walmart and I’ve actually enjoyed them.
I'm still in on both Ultimates and Classified. Ultimates hit the cartoon sweet spot. Yes, they are too expensive and should be around $40, but it's not as if they are $75 each. Super7 has to make more per figure than Hasbro to justify continuing a line and I'm willing to help support that as long as they don't try the repaint scheme that bit them again.
Spot on with the Roadpig thoughts... Terribly disappointed in the design of that much anticipated fig. I feel like super 7 will need to bring a out some heavy hitters to keep the Ultimates going...Snake Eyes cartoon v2 design comes to mind.. Price point at $39.99 would make more sense competing with classifieds at $24.99. Just my 2 cent
I'll buy the rest qhen the sales hit but we got ao.e of the core characters at least. If S7 would've done a Quick Kick and Shipwreck I would've been satisfied with the line as is.
I’ll ride it out with the Super7 ultimates, because I prefer the cartoon aesthetic. I currently have all of my Hasbro Classifieds for sale on Ebay. They’re great figures, but I’m a retro guy, and they feel too modern for me.
Super 7 issues are the same issues it always has. Price point at $55 and quality. I have picked up most of this line for less than $30 a figure on clearance. I'm sure come the holiday season they'll be on clearance again to make way for the $20 a piece O-rings that will not sale well either.
Hey Mike, Any ideas why the super 7 line isn’t a hit? I love em, aesthetically anyway. I think the classified line is great too. Maybe a lot of people don’t want to collect two lines. I’m trying to slow down on all of these lines. So much out there. Idk.
Speaking for myself, I dislike the "animation" aesthetic of figures, in any regard and form. If I am paying a fair amount of money for a figure, I want to see detail and intent of presentation, and thought of realism presented, be it in a fantastic format. Making anything "animation accurate" is a straight cop out, playing to nostalgia. Yes, you can OVERCOMPLEX a figure, but find that right balance, at least for me, is the whole point of collecting. Oh yeah, and it has to be"cool". I say this with the utmost respect, thank you for all you do.
@@scotttemplin8331 I think we are lucky to have the options we do. I collect bc of the nostalgia factor and for me- the cartoons and comics are what I grew up on. I def understand how the animation aesthetic can come off as lazy bc of the simplicity.
I buy Classified and Super7. Classified has cool designs and a lot of different characters. Super7 has the cartoon style, which I love. I hope the line continues. But if S7 switches to an in-stock model, it's possible that the overall number of each figure is going to go down, and that could potentially mean the end of huge sales for these figures on EE and BBTS. People playing clearance chicken may find themselves out of luck.
Top Characters I would like to see are the Dreadnoks, and most of the figures seen in the later Sunbow series. Wet Suit, Learherneck, Serpantor, Dr Mindbender, General Hawk. Cobra Viper, etc. But, I’ll take any Character from the Sunbow series. Shipwreck, Dusty. Just keep them coming
It will be 2026 before something comes out for Joe ultimate's based on the new "it's here" model. By then, the Haslab Rattler will have been delivered, and the next Joe Haslab already solicited. We will probably get one, maybe 2 more Ultimate's waves before the line is canceled. The focus and money maker for S7 is the 3.75 O-ring now. That is what Flynn has been chasing and wanting day one and now he has it.
What sells the best? Probably a version 2 snake eyes, Spirit, Shipwreck, Serpentor, Dr Mindbender or Firefly. IMO I think any of these would sell very well.
I have already invested in Classified. When it comes to S7, I do collect Thundercats and Silverhawks. I just wish they would do ULTIMATES Voltron pilots.
I bought my Super 7 figures on the Entertainment Earth clearance sale over the Holidays. I got 3 figures for under 60 bucks. I would have never paid 55 bucks for a single figure.
I dumped my collection I had Wave 1 and 2 and 3 of each B.A.T's. I dumped them for a few reasons first was Snake eyes and Cobra Commander, can never stand up by themselves. The paint apps were missing on lady Jay and Flint. Then Duke fell down and snapped his wrist peg, it was stuck in his arm. So I ended up selling 13 figures for 200 bucks. I believe super 7 is only downfall
There have been QC issues for sure. Wave 2 was disappointing as hell. Like others mentioned, it was never resolved, although it was acknowledged. Flynn said he didn’t know why they went out like that, but that’s part of the problem. Too much Juggling of too many properties. If they put more effort into the ongoing lines and keep them coming, then even at 55 people would buy them. The package changing also shows that they just do as they feel and don’t expect anyone to be upset. To me, if you’re reducing any cost, the customers should see a difference. I hope they continue this because they are cool figs. Right out of Sunbow. Then going to DIC repaints for wave 6, and seeing that as a “no one wants them I guess” point of view. I’m sure this is a big part of it. We didn’t want those when so many Sunbow characters haven’t even been announced m, it’s a money grab. Super7, do better.
They're too expensive and the QC is garbage. I don't think they should be 30 or something crazy, but 40 is more appropriate considering you get a lot with them and they're larger
The f'n scale is the main issue for me. Most likely won't get any vehicles for this scale so F it. If it was Classified scale, i would've been all in and much more.
I have heard Mattel are doing ThunderCats. I truly hope it’s not like MOTU all over again when they stopped Super7 making MOTU. I’d love the Ultimates ThunderCats line to continue. It’d be awful if they lost or stopped Ultimates G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero and Ultimates ThunderCats. PS I loved the Wave 6 of Joe as those repaints looked great. Be nice to have a Quarrel or Gwendoline instead of a repainted Scarlet.
something still feels shady, like we dont know whole story. Same with Transformers. Why switch for these and not Thundercats (new waves still announced)? I am fine with just dropping new figs, but really want communication, Flynn cant leave us hanging on a line he knows is dead, or at least pre-warn us of the last wave.
At least Super 7 made most of the core cartoon characters from GI Joe. However, Transformers is the one I’m worried about, they made 3 waves I believe and we barely touched the surface when it comes to the main characters, especially Autobots. I think Super 7 did a pretty bad job when it comes to QC issues, timing issues, and of course pricing. If they are a smaller company then they shouldn’t have tried to do so many lines all at once.
I see your point but I disagree. This line is dead as roadkill. They just cancelled a repaint line. Their SDCC exclusives were repaints and they didn’t show not one new prototype for the line. That usually spells dead, Dead, DEAD ☠️ Kinda doesn’t make sense from a marketing and business POV to just make figures and don’t promote them. Sounds like a recipe for just more slow/no sales. I can see moving away from the Made to Order model but it’s more risky to just invest in tooling and production just to drop it on the market. I don’t think that’s a winning ticket at all. For that matter, no new prototypes for Silverhawks or TCats either. Their booth this year was quite sad…like Mezco.
Super7 articulation is disappointing. They're expensive and should have better articulation. Their sculpt isn't that great either especially the female figures. They don't have any curve. They quiet frankly look like dudes with their straight hips. I have enough male figures in my collection. I don't need my female figures to look like male figures.
Good point about the female figures. I think some of that is the left leaning Super7 politics. They want to avoid the "male gaze" but have no problem with buff looking male figures for some reason.
I gave up on GI Joe ultimates when wave 2 had no paint on the flesh tones- Duke looked fantatic in wave 1 but then wave 2 came with no paint and did not match. The waxy plastic looked terrible and they lost me as a fan, because I really liked wave 1
Price and quality. Got two mondo figures, Rogan tila.. Beautiful lookin , but actually pieces of crap , especially for the price. I couldn't believe it. And I can afford Anything... It's definitely the point of it now
You’ll never get a Sgt Slaughter or Serpentor and their price is just too much. Hopefully O-ring does the cartoon versions I want. Their quality just doesn’t justify the $55, period. Less articulation, unpainted heads from wave 2 that they refused to fix. Super 7 loves to shoot themselves. Poor leadership and planning will undo this company if they aren’t careful.
too bad the newer Super7 Ultimate Joes have better face paint and I want to get that cartoon Lady Jaye with a better face paint albeit the uniform is in DIC colors
They have to be ending. Things are so expensive now And these are 55+ bucks...ughh. I picked up a bunch when they were half off. crap three + years, Even Though I can afford it and am quite safe, it's becoming more of the point.. And who knows how the election goes this year and this could continue With economy/inflation etc. Unfortunately. And toy companies taking advantage on top of the administration's failings.
There are too many G.I. Joe lines. Hasbro still makes it, Super 7 still makes it, and Valaverse does it, too. I know competition helps the consumers in choosing their preferred brand but having too much will make them lose interest. It's the reason why the videogame industry crashed in the '80s.
If they weren't $55 they would've sold just fine.
True. No one has disposable income nowadays with all this inflation/
It’s astonishing that people can’t wrap their heads around simple economics & that super7 can’t charge $25 like hasbro without losing money
The biggest problem in my opinion is wave 2 had no face paint. If the company would have corrected the problem then I think a lot of people would still be collecting. But I think a lot of people were very disappointed in the company after that point.

It's that $55 price point. I have gotten the first 3 waves under $30. I will wait for the rest of the waves to get down to $30 a piece
I too collect both classified and ultimates . The ultimates gives me that cartoon happiness. I just need them to give me my visor snakeeyes
Super 7 has great ideas and products, just need to come down to earth with the prices.
All good points. I didn't cancel every figure I had on preorder but I did cancel some. All of these Ultimates! are just becoming too expensive in relation to other smaller companies that are pulling off better figures at half the price such as Jada Toys.
