The bloopers are back by popular demand! 😂😂😂- we hope you enjoyed the video and if you have any questions on flat towing or our set up let us know in the comments! Thanks- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Very helpful. Many years ago we towed a small p/u behind our RV. It had the hitched attached to the P/u rather then the RV. You don’t see that kind of set up much anymore, but it just seemed so much easier. Perhaps there are negatives about towing that way, if you or any of your viewers have any insights, I would appreciate them.
Thank you for the information. We are not sure why the change or difference from your setup. We do find ours quite easy now that it is set up. Maybe there is someone else in the community that knows and can answer this- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hi- We voted and found this to be a useful comment 😂😂😂- stay warm up there in Wisconsin! We are in a cold snap for the next couple of days day here in Texas! Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
That was really interesting. I didn't know what all went into hooking it up; especially the auxillary braking system. One day we may have to tow our Jeep so this will help us decide what we want to do. We would probably want to tow four wheels down. Maya is a really good driver. Ya'll were cracking me up in the bloopers. Good point. All you nonuseful commenters-go away!
It was a worry of ours on how much went into towing too- Maya did so good just sitting and looking pretty for the video! New rule- no un-useful comments 😂 if only- 😂😂😂
Thanks! There was a lot of information to share on the topic! We are enjoying making videos & glad you enjoyed the bloopers as we are good at those 😂 Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hi Janelle & Marty- we are so blessed to have been able to meet you guys! We have so much fun talking and getting to know you- safe travels & can't wait to see you on the road again! Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hi Gary, Kris & Audrey Cricket, Tango & Murdock 🐾- we had a 2006 F-150 and thought of towing that, however we would have left parts in every state as we drove through as it was falling apart 😂- but we did think about buying a new one too- thanks- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Great content and excellent presentation. The video shows your great talent and emotion well. Presented a meaningful content. You invested well enough to inspire others. Stay connected 👍🤝
Great video! Ford and Jeep were really out front of the others with making models that were flat towable. We had a Subaru and we’re really disappointed to find out it wasn’t flat towable. We landed on a bargain in a tow dolly so we bought a front wheel drive car, but we love flat towable.
We were surprised when we started looking into what can be flat towed and so much can’t. Good luck with the dolly & awesome you got a deal on it. Safe travels- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hi guys! Prices will vary as we have friends that it cost them $4000- Hope everything is well with you and got to be looking forward to hitting those RV shows! You’re welcome and if you have more questions get a hold of us- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Crossing the trailer chains aids in turning the trailer by reducing the probability of stress. It also acts as a cradle in the event of separation from the tow vehicle and is required by law in some states- #1 safety first! Glad this was timely for you guys & hope it help- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Glad we could help! We did a lot of research and we so happy we didn’t have to buy a new car-Jeep to tow behind- Good luck with figuring it you for you guys! Let us know if you have any questions we love to help- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Good question Mark- We still have our permanent address in Eau Claire with Joel's parents. We do have our South Dakota domicile address and mailing address set up by Escappees RV Club. We just have to head to South Dakota to be in person for driver’s licenses. We will become residents of South Dakota in April or May at which time we will register and tile our vehicles in that state. We don't want to head to South Dakota right now- it's to cold there 😂- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hi Bob- we appreciate all your continued support for CRS! We are not that cold down here but it is chilly- 39 feels like 27 & we were without power from 2:30am- 9:30am- Winter mix with ice- Wednesday it was 80 & sunny ☀️- crazy weather & we just said it could be worse it could be snowing! Thanks Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Great video. Just something I do when hooking up. After you have everything set and you turn off the car pump the brakes till you delete the air/vacuum that assist applying the breaks. I have had a light braking preshure on the coach slide the tiers on the toad because of the "power brakes" over applying force. One outher thing I do is to remove the adapter pins (teeth) from the front of your baseplate and store them. I haven't had a problem but had a friend who had them stolen when he was parked down town at a mall. It would be hard to replace them quickly if there wasn't a place that sold those kinds of parts handy. One more tip. When you are un hooking the tow bar. Start the car and put just a slight presser (forward) on the tow bar. Put the car in park. Now when you release the arms they will be in a neutral position and the pins will come out easy.
Thanks William- that’s great advice! We will give the brake tapping a try. Also we always remove the adapter pins as we don’t want them stolen either- Wish we would have said that in the video as that’s a every good point! Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
@@ChasingOurSunshine I figured you might remove them but had them in for the video. It doesn't hurt to have a set of new pins though. I lost one of the small flip over locking pins and had to use a zip tye till I could find a store that had one.
Another great tip- Joel just said we should look at getting the pins and connector as we can see one is starting to get a bend to it. This was a useful comment! Unlike the Unuseful ones we joked about in the bloopers 😂
You cannot back the RV up with this setup. Maybe a few feet in an emergency situation, but still could cause damage to the tow system, RV & car. It takes about 10 minutes for set up and 5 minutes for takedown. Thanks- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Joel, just getting started pulling a 2014 ford edge and was wondering if you have a checklist you us for your towing of your 2015 ford edge. The biggest thing I was wondering about is do you leave the accessory button all the time while towing? Please get back to me.
Sorry- we don't have a checklist for the tow vehicle as it's so simple. We don't leave the accessory button on as we turn the engine completely off. We recommend following your owner's manual. Thanks- Joel
Because it's hooked by the tow bar and being pulled by the RV it follows along behind the RV. The car is set up in tow mode and in neural, therefore the car steers the way it's being pulled. Hope that helps- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
We bought our 2018 Tiffin Allegro Red 33aa- a 35 ft diesel pusher in February 2020 for $170,000. If you are looking for more cost information on budgeting we have just released our 1-year cost video and give you all of our budget. Hope we can help as RV Life is amazing and encouraging you to do as much research as possible as it took us 5 years to head Full-time RVing- Thanks, Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
What an Interesting winery I would not associate Texas with the wine industry. Texas would be more of a beer state. The program for staying at the different locations gives a lot of options
Hi Dad- They do have some good beers here too! We just love our Harvest Hosts membership and looking forward to visiting more of them! Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Hi Joe- So our vehicle is a 2015 Ford Edge Sport AWD with a 2.7 L EcoBoost V6 engine. The only issue we have with it is we can not add a hitch for a bike rack to the rear because it is the Sport model. Something else to thing about too- Joel, Deb & 🐕 Maya
Really, we will have to take a look at that- thanks so much- when we bought it we were told there wasn’t an option- but it was back in 2017- so guessing there has been some changes since then.

Flat towing is super easy and makes RV Life even better when you can use your toad to explore an area!
Absolutely- you can't be driving your Class A RV into places!

Just wondering what size engine you have in the Edge. I have been looking for a vehicle to tow, 4 down and I know the engine size is important.

Thanks for the information. I know they make a double receiver for the tow bar and for a bike rack that would go over the tow bar.
