Great question. The intent of this video was to focus on the Tow Bar as it is basically universal. Due to the many and varied vehicles out there I elected to not talk specifics of electrical setup. Thanks for watching.
Interesting system! My motorhome already had the Blue Ox system on it, just needed the base plate and supplemental brake system... which was still expensive, but it is what it is. I went with an installed system, I didn't like the idea of hauling around a 70 pound box.
Hey Tony! Our coach also had a tow vehicle hydraulic braking system installed when we bought it but the owner removed it since we didn't buy the tow vehicle he was selling. Seemed like a neat system. Thanks for watching!

P.S. For those that are viewing..I also watched as they did a through test of the tail lights and turn signals
on the Coach and the Tow vehicle before departing on their journey.
This is something that should be done frequently when stopping. It only takes a minute.

Hi Susan. Blue Ox is an excellent system.
I know this is an older post, but you should mention the 'death wobble' issue on flat towing some vehicles. I have the same Ready Brute system, and a 2015 Cherokee Limited. Already had an issue with the death wobble.
Love towing my TJ wrangler with our Ready Brute Elite. I found the bar preowned and DIY installed the ready stop, ready brake, and installed the Demco baseplate. Total cost $1000, and the RSA products are total quality and user friendly. Great video.

Thanks for the walkthrough. I am sure you are aware but if the brake indicator light is connected to the tow vehicle brake light instead the tow bar system, it will alert you to brakes applied. I believe this would have saved you.
I have this system with a Blue Ox tow bar. As you said the brake cable install is a bit tricky but a very simple system with minimal moving parts. Thanks again!!

Raymond Emig II Another viewer suggested wiring the brake indicator cable to the vehicle brake light switch instead of to the surge lever on the tow bar. Have you though of doing that?

Thanks! I had to install a to install a wiring harness and diode kit specifically for the Jeep. A 7 wire cable from the coach to the Jeep handles running lights, turn signals and brake lights.
Brian thanks for the video I really enjoyed watching. I have a 2013 Grand Cherokee Overland. I thinking I will need a wire to go all the way to my lights in the back. I know that Roadmaster has a wiring diode kit that you can purchase for their roadmaster units. Thinking that this would work maybe the same on this Ready Brute Elite system, or if purchase entire system might come with wiring and diode connectors. Chit Brian I'm all new at this so will be a first time and I have stupid questions. One I read somewhere that power has to be applied on the car at all times, because the power steering has to have power all the time in order to work. I have read that if power isn't left on all the time then the death wobble can happen. I really don't know just trying to not do the wrong thing. If this was true then wouldn't you need a charge cable to keep the car battery charged ? I wish I knew that the H*LL I'm trying to get answered. I really do not know if I'm asking the right question. I will be purchasing a Tiffin diesel since they are like 60 miles from my house.
Hi Jeff! I did have to purchase the diode kit for our Jeep. It was a simple plug and play into the existing wiring harness. I did have to run the 4 wire harness to the front connected so that I could plug in the umbilical cable from the coach to the Jeep. The ignition on our Jeep doesn’t have to stay on, so that’s nice. I just put the transfer case into neutral and remove the key. You’ll get it all sorted out.

Mike Keeler Yes, there is a 12v constant running from the coach to the Jeep which keeps the running lights on. That way I don’t have to turn the Jeep lights on and risk running down the battery.

Good info. Can you comment on how the Jeep steering wheel is handled when towing? How are the Jeep tail lights connected? May be basic questions but have never towed a vehicle, so thanks.
Thanks for asking. The steering wheel in our Jeep turns freely. As for electrical, we elected to not cover that topic since there are so many ways and variations to connect the lights. This said, we installed a special wiring harness in the Jeep that connects to the RV lights via an electrical cable. You can also purchase separate light kits that plug into the RV's towing harness, which then mount magnetically to the rear of vehicle. This is a much easier and cheaper option. Hope this helps.

We like the versatility of the JGK. It’s a bit heavy at just under 5000 pounds.
After putting the transaxle into neutral you place the trans in park and turn off the key ? Doesn't the steering wheel lock up and slide the front tires around turns?
Good question. The steering wheel turns freely, so putting the transaxle into neutral must also disengage the steering wheel locking mechanism.

Does the jeep engine need to be running when it is being towed as it will run out of vacuum once the brakes have been applied a couple of times.
This Jeep model does not require continual vacuum to operate the brakes.

What year keep are you flat towing
Hi Christy. It was a 2005 Grand Cherokee Limited with a Quadradrive 2 transmission.
How much did all this cost?
About $2000. I did all the work so the labor gas free. Installation at a shop would probably be another $500.
I was wondering if you have had any interactions with BLM management about riding your ebikes in the BLM land?
