Listening to this and thinking about what happened to this aircraft. If it doesn't make you choke up inside as a pilot or an aviation geek and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm one, you no longer have a soul. This aircraft reminded everyone of why they became a pilot, got involved in aviation in a support role, or just find themselves looking up anytime they hear something overhead. Hopefully one day they will rebuild it, make it better so we can experience this once more. I know I'm not the only one that hopes that happens
Good news is Ukraine has stated that they're going to rebuild her. I saw her back in the late '90's or early '00's. Absolutely beautiful aircraft and when I saw her she was carrying... I think it was 16 ambulances, I remember a few coming off or going on. The scale of it just blew my mind.
I paid to tour the 225 back in the early 1990's when it flew into KBDL for a few days while it was on a publicity tour. They bussed everyone in from the parking lot and when we got to the aircraft it had not yet been opened. everyone got off the bus and they were just starting to open the nose and there a noticeable sound of a pop. A hydraulic leak had occurred in the nose lifting mechanism. I have pictures of red hydraulic fluid sprayed all over the concrete. More than anything else - the landing gear was what impressed me the most.
Hi. I'm ATC from Kyiv FIR, where Antonov 225 flies the most. And never heard on frcy such excitement. Other a/c just don't give a f*, when beast is nearby)
I was fortunate to see the Antonov in flight, and man, what a beast! The 747 is my favorite plane, and this thing made a 747 look like the space shuttle. I was working at a company on Lake Union in Seattle (the lake's between Puget Sound and Lake Washington) and was taking out my recycling. I saw something big and white out of the corner of my eye and turned and -- words can't describe. It was amazing!! I used to live next to a SAC airbase, and this plane also made B52s look like the space shuttle!
I work overseas and my company uses the Antonov to deliver supplies from the states to where we work. All the times I have seen this Aircraft, which is in the terms of dozens, I never thought it was a big deal until now. Lol great looking aircraft, especially when you stand right next to it!
Just now watching this oldie, but goodie!! Totally awesome!! Wow! to see that would be unbelievable!! Thanks for posting this. I have saved this video! 💕✈💕✈
Man, this video made my day. Seeing grown up man, working and talking in the radio as formally and professionally as only airplane pilots and ATCs need to, and "just" because the Antonov is around, everyone suddenly sound like kids in a candy store. Just amazing! Really made my day!
I've seen the AN-225 irl and it's a beautiful aircraft. It was on the Boeing launch airfield here in Everett while I was on a tour and it was amazing. They actually paused our tour momentarily to watch the plane as it departed. A beautiful sound
Disregard. Turns out the aircraft I saw was the An-124. Still it's really cool, as it's the largest military transport aircraft. It's discontinued from the Russian Air Force, and it's now a cargo plane. It was delivering engines from Ohio to the Boeing factory. I just thought I remembered some sort of yellow
Antonov: Manouver props engaged Tower: Examining diagrams Ground: Vehicle reporting Tower: I have the information Ground: Location confirmed Antonov: Closing on target Janitor: At least I have job
Yea, me too. But don’t be really sad about it. Ukrainians will build one more, im sure. They have unfinished project. Anyway, someday it should have happened.
It’s being repaired now due to a front landing gear collapse after landing. They have also decided to finish the second 225 that was canceled in the 90s but was halfway complete.
The little brother of this, the AN124 made a couple deliveries here to CYQT direct from Austria for the Bombardier factory. It looked even bigger because the airport is much smaller than Oakland. I was surprised it didn't dig up the whole runway landing that thing. The crew went down well here, they had a fun time all over the city while the cargo was being unloaded.
It was actually designed to land on other surfaces other than Tarmac, IIRC. With so many wheels, you distribute the weight of the aircraft over a much larger area which allows it to land and not tear the ground up underneath the tires.
From the ages of 9-14 I dream of piloting the an 225 one day. Sadly it was only just a dream. Still wish to this day that I could so something career wise with such an amazing aircraft.
I live in the southeast of Ireland a few weeks ago I could hear really loud jet engines flying overhead which sounds pretty normal but my nearest airport is 400km (250ish miles) away so we tend to very rarely hear commercial aircraft especially that loud so I checked my flight tracker app and sure enough it was an AN225 flying at cruising altitude at 35’000 feet directly overhead on its way from Las Vegas to eastern Russia after stopping in fuel in our little Shannon airport in the Irish midlands had I have known I’d have drove the 5 hour journey in a heartbeat just to catch a glimpse of her what a magnificent feat of engineering

Ah... pardon me.
Imagine how badass the Antonov pilots must've felt, listening to all those dudes wanting to take a look 😄
At that point it’s just a normal day for them, of course unfortunately we won’t be able to see the antonov airborne for a long time.
You could land a Cessna on it.
You could land CarbonCubs on the wings of it! Its crazy how big it is
What do you think that CAP 182 was trying to do?
You could land a Cessna *in* it.
Phapnui...🤣🤣🤣🤣
A Buran space craft was actually transported on it.
That Antonov's not a plane, that's an entire planet...
That's no moon...
Michael Onines I was about to say that
Heavy enough for a noticable amount of gravity
Its bigger than a star lol
Legend has it: the world revolves around the antonov
Antonov pilot: another day of the job...
Air traffic and pilots: can we take selfies?
biggest airplane in the world turns a whole airport full of seasoned professionals into wide eyed kids at the fair :)
I like how every time it lands and takes off they have to inspect the runway , taxiway , signs, etc... Truly tells you how massive and heavy this thing is!!
I feel like the transmissions in this video were a lot more comprehensible compared to most other ATC conversations that I've watched
keep up the great work VASAviation!
OAK is in a good location for VHF reception.
RIP Antonov 225. You will be missed.
The Antonov's captain definitally has multiple families across the globe
What a awesome ATC guy but passengers were probably wondering why they weren’t landing lol
Ryan Fitzgerald I’m pretty sure the captain told them why, and to get a good look.
*PING*
Ladies and gentlemen, due to bruh moment magnitude 9 there'll be delay on our landing. Meanwhile we will do a circle near the airport so you can enjoy the *BIG CHUNGUS*
AWESOME!
I wish I was one of these flights circling above the Antonov :D
Earlier this year it came to the Berlin ILA Air Show and I went to the cockpit of this beast!
You lucky bastard. I "only" once witnessed it flying above my house. I didn't know the takeoff time so I wasn't prepared, at some point I just heard some massive noise of an aircraft I didn't recognize the sound of and I saw this huge bird right there :D
I’ve seen a KDC-10 before.
I think there’s only two in the world. Royal Netherlands version of the KC-10
The Beluga sometimes flies over my house
It’s very cute how excited the pilots and airport staff are. Must be like when the Super Guppy comes.

- contact ground point seven FAYYVE
- roger one two one seven FAYYVE, antonov 286f
Hahaha I didnt notice that one, good catch
Antonov pilot sounds like he smokes 2 packs a day.
Love how relaxed ATC is about others getting looks and simply approving them lol
As boys grow older, their toys get bigger. The ATC sounds like a small boy who's excited to show off the big toy landing on his backyard to all the neighborhood boys.
😆
Listening to this and thinking about what happened to this aircraft. If it doesn't make you choke up inside as a pilot or an aviation geek and I'm not ashamed to admit I'm one, you no longer have a soul. This aircraft reminded everyone of why they became a pilot, got involved in aviation in a support role, or just find themselves looking up anytime they hear something overhead. Hopefully one day they will rebuild it, make it better so we can experience this once more. I know I'm not the only one that hopes that happens
Anyone and everyone who didn't at least shed a tear, is dead inside.
Totally agree with you 100%. Anyone who has any type of aviation interest should feel something listening and thinking about this.
Sad that only a couple years later this beautiful massive hulk of a plane was destroyed.
Antonov AN-225: lands
All planes in the area: *interesting*
I paid to tour the 225 back in the early 1990's when it flew into KBDL for a few days while it was on a publicity tour. They bussed everyone in from the parking lot and when we got to the aircraft it had not yet been opened. everyone got off the bus and they were just starting to open the nose and there a noticeable sound of a pop. A hydraulic leak had occurred in the nose lifting mechanism. I have pictures of red hydraulic fluid sprayed all over the concrete. More than anything else - the landing gear was what impressed me the most.
The AN-225 can't land on an aircraft carrier.
But it can carry it.
No, it's a spacecraft carrier
Hi. I'm ATC from Kyiv FIR, where Antonov 225 flies the most. And never heard on frcy such excitement. Other a/c just don't give a f*, when beast is nearby)
where Antonov 225 flies the most, you hit the nail on the head, this is a rare sigt for a 99% majority
@@theodorthfc1797 no really I see that plane a few times a year here in the States
the states isn't a majority, most people don't live there, also you could be in a flight path
@@theodorthfc1797 I work at an airport that it at lands often. Even have a few videos flying with escorts.
It even came to adelaide sth australia lol.it woke the whole city up
If anything deserves the classification of Super, it’s that plane!
Should get its own Hyper category.
A380 is also "super" 😀
actually the A380 is the only aircraft classified as Super. makes no sense but Super was just created fo rthe A380
@@tobiascomann7097 Yes. Correct. Just created for the A380.
I think we should do something like the speed indicator in Spaceballs. I wanna hear Speedbird 17 Ludicrous request permission to land!
225 does like her space shuttles
I work overseas and my company uses the Antonov to deliver supplies from the states to where we work. All the times I have seen this Aircraft, which is in the terms of dozens, I never thought it was a big deal until now. Lol great looking aircraft, especially when you stand right next to it!
Just now watching this oldie, but goodie!! Totally awesome!! Wow! to see that would be unbelievable!! Thanks for posting this. I have saved this video! 💕✈💕✈
And I was there with 3 other friends! The 225 is HUGE, fills the entire sky
You're really lucky!! The biggest I've ever seen is the Boeing C-17 Globemaster III.
@@abhiinair The biggest plane I've ever seen was the A380 or the Antonov 124. The 225 landed once 2011 in my hometown, but I missed it. :(

Man, this video made my day. Seeing grown up man, working and talking in the radio as formally and professionally as only airplane pilots and ATCs need to, and "just" because the Antonov is around, everyone suddenly sound like kids in a candy store. Just amazing! Really made my day!
The Controller sounded pretty excited to say that first "Super."
Rest in Peace, our beautiful Mriya :(
Antonov probably has to deal with this every time he lands
I've seen the AN-225 irl and it's a beautiful aircraft. It was on the Boeing launch airfield here in Everett while I was on a tour and it was amazing. They actually paused our tour momentarily to watch the plane as it departed. A beautiful sound
Disregard. Turns out the aircraft I saw was the An-124. Still it's really cool, as it's the largest military transport aircraft. It's discontinued from the Russian Air Force, and it's now a cargo plane. It was delivering engines from Ohio to the Boeing factory. I just thought I remembered some sort of yellow

Yea, me too. But don’t be really sad about it. Ukrainians will build one more, im sure. They have unfinished project. Anyway, someday it should have happened.
@@Апельсин-б4ч what should have happened? Fascist invasion? I don't think most civilian planes get destroyed by artillery
One of my life goals. I wanna see this magnificent bird before my time comes.
Edit: ... Goddamnit!!! This is why we can never have nice things!!!
Antonov : *Arrives*
all other planes : _senpaiiii
It’s being repaired now due to a front landing gear collapse after landing. They have also decided to finish the second 225 that was canceled in the 90s but was halfway complete.
Got the pleasure of seeing An-225 at my local airport a year or two before it was destroyed. Awesome aircraft and hoping they rebuild it some day.
Came back to this after the news. I always wanted to see this magnificent machine in person.
That Antonov Pilot sounded utterly in control and unfazed. Like a master who doesn't need to shout out his mastery
Rest in peace "Mriya"

You can now see the mother plane carrying her young to the plane nursery
Everyone is so hyped for the Antonov. How could you not love such a beast?
These pilots are like kids seeing their favorite toy for the first time! Very cool
ATC who on duty are perfectly kind person god bless you,
The little brother of this, the AN124 made a couple deliveries here to CYQT direct from Austria for the Bombardier factory.
Hi!! I saw the plane and took a picture with it, I work at OAK as a ramp agent, IT IS HUGE!!!!
Where is this picture?
Antonov 286F SUPER. I think we're beyond Super. This deserves an Omega.
And now AN 225 is dead because of the war, may the Big Jet Rest In Peace
From the ages of 9-14 I dream of piloting the an 225 one day. Sadly it was only just a dream. Still wish to this day that I could so something career wise with such an amazing aircraft.
Like others have mentioned. The Pilot sounds _exactly_ like I imagined.
The Ukrainian pilot has a badass voice
What a great piece of engineering
RIP big girl 💔
That exactly same plane landed a few days ago at Henri Coandă airport (LROP from Romania) to bring medical devices and protective masks.
