    excellent step-by-step video. you have tremendous patience and very high mechanical and videography standards!

      Thanks, the car is surprisingly easy to work on, in contrast to the DeLorean. Other than limited access, the 308 has been a pleasure to wrench on. Thanks for watching!

      @@tr3wrench yes. It makes shiming valves a breeze. You can more precisely set cam timing instead of locking the pulleys and assuming it was already correct. After setting all of the valves and setting the cam timing I could tell a significant difference in performance. It's an 83 QV. I would recommend doing that to yours next time.

    Mine were were 7 years old when I changed them, they did not look too bad, but why risk a 30k motor? Take the Birdman's advise. He is great!

    I got to say that I will never understand the notion that a radio is not needed, just because of the engine note. I daily my 328 and do long road trips, and it would utterly suck if there was no music or nav. It may be okay for a weekend warrior, but not for a car that sees frequent use.
    Does not have to be a major install, but a discrete head unit with a flip out screen, apple car play etc. and a set of speakers for the doors and dash, make all the difference in terms of how the car feels.

    • @tr3wrench
      @tr3wrench  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did end up replacing the radio with a modern head unit and new speakers, but I still hardly ever turn it on when I'm driving this car. I'm typically only driving this car to be driving the car so that probably has something to do with it. Radio/NAV is usually part of my daily commute...

      Really just for caution. 17 years old is pretty old for belts / hoses. Now I can turn the key without fear of a belt snap and an engine rebuild. Thanks for watching!

    No safety goggles but a face diaper ? Nice virtue signaling .
    40 k mi engine out service ? Call me ignorant but I assume you live in the US and don’t have much opportunity to drive the little beauty balls out very much , but , hey, the price you pay to have the prancing horse on the hood .
    Don’t get me wrong, I love Ferraris, to look at , yeah, .
    Satire out .

      Certainly don't use the goggles as much as I should... This was shot during the second wave here in the US. Data showed the masks reduced transmission significantly (not so much now with Omicron). Just being a good shop mate.
      True I don't get to drive her as much as I would like, especially now in the winter. I did manage to put more than 1000 miles on in the first year, and that was with a lot of time in the shop too. Shooting for 2k in 2022. Thanks for watching.
