    Do more stuff bro. Can you do like transmissions engines I need to learn some stuff about boat mechanics fast and you’re the only one on TH-cam doing stuff like this

      Thank you for the positive feedback, i will start doing more mechanic videos to see how they do. I do not work on inboards unfortunately

    Dude, we got a crestliner commander. I’ve seen a lot of crestliner transom replace videos on TH-cam. I’m scared now. Hopefully mines doesn’t rot anytime soon. Boats barely used, we are second owner and first owner barely used it, I checked the wood from underneath the bilge area before buying and wood looks good, but who knows about the middle. I rocked the engine like crazy and no give, so we bought the boat, but these videos for me scared now. 😢😢

      If the boat is stored inside, you shouldn't have any issues. The Crestliners I have seen with transom issues are usually kept outside or have holes in the transom that are not sealed properly causing water to get into wood over time leading to a rotten transom.

    For edges first thing you want to do is round your corners. Fiberglass does not like 90 degree angles. 2ndly i wouldve gone csm/knytex (1708) alternating, and finish with csm ripped on edges for a nice feather in/minimal sanding. Also dont mix glass too too hot because itll make the resin way too brittle and be more prone to cracking

      I learned more from you comment then i did in every video I watched on how to do it! thank you for taking the time to give me feedback, means a lot!

      @Public Water Marine no worries. I havent been doing big glassing stuff over the years until now, on my own boat. Done all sorts of stuff with fiberglass though. The chopstrand base/first layer has the best wetout/cling. So i always start with csm, usually 1.5oz since the .75 oz is like tissue paper thin almost. I think ill hand rip down the .75 and use it for first tabbing layer. My preference no matter what is start and finish with chop strand. Ive experimented with 1708 as a base bond on a flat surface, but the csm binds better initially. My goto is always start and finish with chopstrand. As i stated with the ripped of the chopstrand, it feathers in amazingly well so that your sanding work is minimal.

    What plywood and thickness did you end up using? About to do this on a fish hawk

    • @blakerease
      @blakerease  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not remember the size of the plywood; we used marine grade plywood. wish i would have written it in the description when it was fresh on my mind!

    Do you have other videos of working on Crestliners? Or more from this job you could please share with me? It looks like you may have more clips? Also.. how did you remove the two top back corners? Cut them out? Re weld?

      I do not have any more video footage of the job, i did not have to cut any of the boat to do the job. You will have to remove some of the foam to get to the hidden nuts/bolts.

    Hey man I need something similar done to my crest liner. How much would you charge to do it? Mine is a crest liner 2050 sport fish. I’m 2 hours from you but I could make the drive.
