It’s been almost 45 years since I’ve been to this Great Little drag strip in Wisconsin and it looks pretty much the same I live about 25 miles straight east of Byron Drag Strip in Illinois. Another little strip out in the country. I’m glad to see both of these strips alive and well. It’s the love of men and women t egg gong to make their machines go as ____ing Fast Aa Possible. Ya Gotta Love It.

Ya 1000 ft crap. Much technology has changed since Scott was killed, only reason now they keep the 1000 ft is because driver's want to save on parts, if the sucker fans keep coming why go back to the 1320

OMG! I just saw this video. My buddy and I use to go there many times. One of my favorites was a 57 chevy with the name Shake Rattle and Run.

That old boy could rattle that out fantastically, and name all the drivers like an auctioneer. Man that was a great time to be alive. And I also lived in the Grove and grew up in Wheatland
Been there many many times pit crew member on three different drag cars,72 Camero 69chevelle 57 chevy.
For 10 years I could hear the loud cars and jet cars from my house a few miles away. I have many great memories of that place!
I also, I used to be lulled to sleep from the sound. I lived behind the party shop. I miss Ol Broadway Bob he was a genuine great guy also. 😢A family member also dated his daughter. Hell Bob was so cool he gave me a Z1 Kaw that someone left him for collateral and never came back for it.
Prior to the above post we could hear many classes of vehicles in Wheatland. Easy 10 miles from the strip. I grew up there till I was 20. Now 60 😢
i was there in the summer of 1970 in the navy at the time, compliments of special services, very good memories.

My dad took me to this track on the 4th of July when I was in fourth grade. The following year we saw Art Arfons with LSR Green Monster.
It is amazing to see this track still active.

I remember Broadway Bob. Buddy had a gold pass late 70s/early 80s. Haven't been there in decades. BTW, pretty stiff headwind.

Grew up outside franksville and spent alot of weekends through the 90s down there, great fun and memories.

Union Grove is just 15 minutes from me. Been the GLD many many times.
Gate price keeps a lot of old guys on fixed income from coming back out there

That fire breathing jet truck should not even be allowed at the drag strip it should be at the Salt Flats! Gasser drag racer! Fire and explosion waiting to happen

I’m 60 and my first trip to the strip was in 1967. No one cares what your opinion is on jet vehicles. They are there just for exhibition racing. There have been more stranger racing than you could even imagine. Now pick up your match box cars and get ready for school darling.
Man, this is freaky watching this because almost no doubt many of those cars are the same ones that were racing back in the 60's when I was a kid and used to look at pictures of them in drag racing magazines. Being at this race or watching the video would be exactly how it all looked back in the 60's. From what I can tell, even the spectators are all white people just like they would have been back in the day - the only thing missing might be horn-rimmed sunglasses on the women and the addition of white-trash tattoos on some of the people, but the cars and the whole vibe would be exactly the same for sure. It reminds me of that Kevin Costner movie Field of Dreams. How totally bizarre but very cool.

Labor day weekend September they have their spectacular with a little bit of everything. Jet cars, wheel standers, gassers, dragsters, etc... Memorial day weekend end of May they have one as well usually. Years ago it was really an awesome show, now it's not bad but seems to go downhill every year like everything else.
Looks like I’ll need a pair of binoculars to see from wherever those camera angle is so I can see if maybe there is actually some cars being driven somewhere
