I have 3 suggestions: (1) Shut all window shades and stop any sun from coming into the ice house. (2) Bring a handnet… yes I am serious. Trout are masters of spitting the hook. No big deal if you are doing catch and release all day. I lost many until I brought a net. (3) You might really enjoy one of those huge ice saws. Just make one or 4 holes in the corners and then saw between them. shove big slab of ice - under the ice. All set.
1) I agree, but I need the light for filming otherwise it's all grainy 2) you are correct with that! Next time I'll bring a net 3. I have an ice saw, just never think to bring the dang thing. Also the auger doesn't make me sweat like the saw does haha
Are there any clear enough lakes for sightfishing for lakers? I guess seasons closed for your area and camera might not be able to pick up on it... aqua view is good though.
Yes we have clear enough lakes. The problem is the good spots that I would target don't always freeze. I do have aqua vu footage of Lakers on older videos
You're awful lucky. Where you live, you buy a fishing licence and you get something in return. I know, because I used to go fishing in New Hampshire. I live in Quebec and have been fishing for close to 60 years. Over here, they sell you a fishing licence, never stock anything and often, when a lake has good fishing, they'll stock with bait fish so you won't catch anything. I used to fish a couple of lakes, but when their ''biologists'' put their nose in them, fishing was ruined. In my region, there are so many beautiful lakes with practically no fish in them and nothing is done about it. We used to have fun night fishing for whitefish, with nets and lanterns, so they pushed the season 2 weeks back when the run is finished. It's obvious that they don't want us to catch fish. I could go on. As for hunting, US biologists and associations in the Northeastern border states made huge efforts to increase the populations of deer and wild turkey and eventually, many of those animals migrated northward. Our government does practically nothing and then rake in the money made with the hunting permits they sell, thanks to all the efforts made on the US side. Grab as much money as you can from fishermen and hunters and give practically nothing in return. That's the Quebec Way. Sorry about the negativity, but to finish on a postive note, at least I get to watch your videos. :)
I've heard that from others in Quebec. I do want to fish some of your laker lakes. I have fished the yamaska river for walleyes and pike and that was good
@@BendItFishing There' a laker lake about 20 minutes from where I live (Lake Matapedia). If you ever want to explore our region, let me know and you'll be my guest! I also have a friend who's a great salmon guide on the Matane River. If you fly fish and would like to try that, I could easily arrange something. Best wishes for 2025! :)
Yes, more sighfishing PLEASE!!!
Heard!!
Great video man, that was fun to watch! I need to get out and do the same
Thank you!! Get out there!!
