I've been playing guitar and bass for over 30 years. I didn't know bass players were supposed to be using compressors until I had been playing about 27 years. My Uncle Bob who started playing music in the late '60s early 70s told me that I was better off having not used a compressor because it forced me to control my Dynamics with my hands with the instrument and I tend to agree with him but there's only I guess bass players like me are a rare breed. The first compressor I used was the onboard compressor in my Ampeg svt4 Pro and I only use that at about 10% I don't know if it even did anything. One thing I loved about that was the onboard crossover allowing up I am signal low frequencies to the electro voice monster cabinet the chest crusher we used to call it and upper mids and eyes to the cab with the 410 celestions and a horn. It also allowed to send out a biampdi signal so we could process it that way or send each biamp signal into a crossover and really fuck it up by splitting it into four signals based on frequency. I always found that the frequencies that we're the problem area where the really boomy and muddy frequencies and that to me that started about 1:20 and went up to about 180 to 220 but especially that 1:20 to 150 range those were the worst to deal with I think 100 and below specially what you talking about 90 ballsy gutsy low frequency that I never wanted a engineer or live sound man to touch on my rig leave those alone that's that's my stuff I'll get that kick drum out to the crowd you just leave me my frequency down there I definitely will go check out all of you plug-ins I'm probably in the market for a couple Pacific plug-ins and a couple just kind of wild cards to see what's out there keep doing what you're doing man I will like your channel and some things I've learned from you I think will help as I start releasing guitars and bases that we build and instrument components like Bridges and bridge saddles aftermarket stuff knobs pick guards you name it as we release that I'll need to do demo recordings of the instruments and I've learned a couple of things watching your channel I think will definitely help me so thank you and I'll keep watching take care

It's not about the tone when playing in solo or even in a live situation, but in to be heard in a dense mix without the low rumbling resonant tones going overboard.

This is definitely a awesome plug-in! The huge selling point is for me is that you have a solo button and I parallel process my instrumental group my drum group as well as my vocal group and so this is going to give me the versatility I need in order to use the low bass as my starting point in the mix 🙌🏾

I see some comments comparing this to the RBass. That was my thought too, but honestly I'd probably use this more for frequently. I'm often stuck between leaving the low end uncompressed and clean and open, but still wanting more control at the same time. Sometimes I'll reach for a C4, but this plugin looks cool. Looks like it'll save time too. If anyone reads this, lemme know what plugins you use for controlling lows and subs. I'm always looking for new techniques down there.

I´m throwing it om my master buss! Works great for both taming and controlling low end and also for example to enhance some nice sub to the mix...You can of course also get the same result with other plugins...but you will then need at least two or three of them....This is WAY easier and saves both time and worries about the lower parts in you songs.

I think I’ll grab this one, cause currently I’m using a MB comp + rbass, and I’m no satisfied with rbass. Also I tend to overthink the MB comp cause of the amount of parameters to tweak. I’m really into this minimalist approach

Super cool! Would love to try it! Very well thought out - the right blend of simple and with enough tweak ability with frequencies to do what you need to do. Slider on the left is set to 90Hz, slider on the right is set to 80Hz. Why is the linear area of the 90Hz slider smaller than the linear area of the 80Hz slider? Might be helpful to specify the range of each slider? Or at least make them congruent.

  • @ReeWebster

How is it like rbass? Doesn’t that just emphasize a fundamental and add harmonics? This is like compressor side chain inside out. Instead of using filter to stop the lows triggering the comp, it uses the filter to stop the compressor affecting the highs. I think?
