I pre-ordered the X for myself and S's for my kids since they play on 1080p monitors. I like that there are options for the consumer.

I agree regarding the xbox. I enjoy the wild design of the PS5 at a distance. In front of my tv? Idk. I'll probably be able to ignore it after some time, but it definitely will still look flashy.

@@user-gm9zi1tp1g Yes, the cooling design is exotic, but that is not why the PS5 looks the way it does. Engineers are smart enough to achieve similar performance through a variety of designs. Between the design team and engineering team, they settled on this one.

@@thepope9076 You mean the Series S?? Series S caps out at 1440p. Series X caps out at 4K, but it might be able to do 8K at 30fps, but i don't think we have official confirmation on the 8K stuff.

People forget one thing:
You will be rocking your console for up to 8 years in your room. This means you ll see it a lot.
My guess is: You will get pretty fucking tired of the looks of the PS5, even if you find it to be cool now, in 2 to 3 years its probably gotten old.
The minimalistic design of Series X will pass the test of time way better.
A whole lot of assumption on your part. The PS5 is a million times more desirable console for the vast majority of consumers. Not just because of its superior ecosystem, but also because it's the most revolutionary, innovative and sexy gaming machine ever designed. The Xbox is boring, bland and safe. Nothing special about it. Just a PC case with off the shelf parts stuck in. No custom secret sauce, mainly relying on retro Xbox 360 games as a selling point. The PS5 is all about next gen. Xbox keeps looking at the past and it shows in the design language
vertonical Xbox ecosystem is far superior to the Sony one. Has been since the original Xbox and Xbox gold. Plus with game pass and everything they’re doing they’re very pro consumer.

Edis Delgado that’s just the price of pcie4 nvme storage. Buying a third party drive for the PlayStation will be just as expensive, because that’s the current price for the memory. Go check newegg, amazon, or your preferred supplier. You pay marginally more for Microsoft because it has a cartridge like housing, that’s arguably more consumer friendly that an exposed nvme drive, almost as if, over the generation Microsoft knows the prices will drop massively and storage will become like usb sticks are now, and people will have larger and/or multiple disks. :-)

i was skeptical about the price after hearing the claimed performance but 1440p at 120Hz for $300 is a steal.

@@litapd311 You missed the "up to 120 fps". It will be 30 fps as usuall, in graphically demanding titles.
Idk you get a cut back Xbox for 299 or a full power PS5 for 399. I say that extra $100 is well worth it for all the extra power.
The lack of a disk drive kinda kills it for me as a budget product. Here in the UK, at least, digital console game prices tend to be much, much higher than physical, to the point where you'd easily make up the £200 difference within about ten games.

I don't really hate PS5 design but it's only match someone with weird futuristic house or something, while people like me who use ikea stuff and simple clean room prefer clean design like xbox. PS4 design is good but sony somewhat think router design and change it is good, it's really unfortunate.

Microsoft wants to get people into their ecosystem, where they can profit with software. It's why hardware-wise the Series S is quite cheap.
It's the same price as the xbox one rn
They're trying to beat Sony in sales by making the most cheap competitor making it worth buying whilst the ps5 only gets 80 more frames
@@cordz389 MS don't care about console sales. The Series S is designed to get customers on Game Pass. That makes them wayyyyy more $$$$$ than just the console itself.
@@ahsokaincognito Sony is making digital only version to save cost and do it on the premise that most gamers buy digital now anyways. They have no customer ecosystem like Xbox has and that's coming from a neutral gamer. Gamepass/game share/the mobile Xbox ecosystem is far greater than anything Sony offers as of now

@@mayman4255 Ray Tracing will be handled via the dedicated hardware for it. I'm not sure if it will affect performance all that much.

There's no way I'd get anything other than the Series X, but wow is that Series S industrial design so good. Like all the classic Dieter Rams Braun vibes in the very best way. Low key wish they both looked like that.

Series S will have faster load times and most 4K Tv's can't handle the speeds the Series X needs. Yes it has lower resolution but it will run faster and for me speed trumps resolution.

The S makes a lot more sense for casual gamers along with teens and kids. I think it's a pretty brilliant strategy as most parents are going to opt for the cheaper one.

From what I understand, the S design is more meant for the casual person. Someone perhaps that is busy most the day and doesn't get a ton of chances to play, but still wants to be able to when they can. In a case like that, most people probably won't mind having a lower end.

The series S is marketed at parents buying their teen children their first gaming console, whether its a birthday gift or Christmas gift, will sell like hotcakes!!!
Also for the casual social gamer to have it at their living room, a lot of 3rd world country house holds doesn't own smart TVs, so this becomes a great streaming and gaming hub.
Just bugs me that the digital-only console has half the storage size, I'll be getting the series X half because of that, and half because I'd need to replace my copy of Fallout and Oblivion with a digital version, which will already put me down a bit, depending. I'd love to swap to digital only, but I'll maybe give it a few more years

I think the argument is that your PC supposed to be in a private space like your bed room whereas a console would be placed under the TV in the living room, which is a more public space in your house

I mean I'm a Playstation fanboy (I also like Microsoft and the Xbox, don't start console wars below) but if someone tells me the design looks I guess "interesting" or bad in their opinion, idc it's their opinion. And to be honest it actually does look like an alien looking spaceship or something related to that. I also like the Series X design since it's pretty minimal.

If it has the word gaming in front of it you probably shouldn't buy it. With the exception of the mouse every product you mentioned is going to be a worse product than its 'normal' counterparts.

Not possible with that super weak hardware that has to share a cheapo 200watt psu. Only 1080p 120fps for a handful of sidescroller titles. The rest is 4k upscaled from 1440p to 30fps and a handful of 60fps games. Can't beat the laws of physics.

@@theRealPadster well that goes for all consoles, most games will still be 60FPS, 120 is just the max, it's still amazing with that price point i would get the Xbox S and get a 2TB extern harddisk for like 50$ and be more than happy, i don't have my 4k smart TV anymore and something is telling me most games wont even run at 4k
@@nightninja6244 you need a extern no matter if it's 500GB or 1000GB unless you only play a few games, and you can get 2TB extern for $50 or go buy one used on craigslist for even less..It's still 299 and that's really cheap for new tech
