I heard the city was under locked down due to a Thai national being tested positive for a variant. Hope they weather it; Laos does not have the infrastructure to handle an outbreak. Not a bad place to be stuck in Vang Vieng.
I'd rather be stuck in Laos than the USA.
@@LaoSoftware To each their own preference and experience. I have extended family in Laos, and I have not seen enough of the country, so I wouldn’t mind being stuck there. But I have nothing but love for the States; she’s not perfect; no country is, but she has always treated me with generosity and kindness; it’s a very big wide country, and I haven’t seen enough of it yet; so, I don’t mind being stuck here in the States with my family. I travel globally for work, so I miss that. This pandemic is a once-in-a-century health crisis; that’s what it is; we just have to endure it, as humanity has always done since the beginning of time.

That vid was damn near perfect. Your editing skills have just exploded! Very good job. Other than not getting wet,,I felt like I was there,,and in my mind,,that's the ultimate goal making films. Good on ya Mate! Lol man I'd have had shit loads of fun those 3 days. The girl on the bike that flipped you the peace sign,,was just cute as all hell. Lots beauties around those days. Food looked delish too. Was gonna let you know,,today was the day for Dad's heart tests,,and it was all good. The cardiologist said his heart was about as good as it possibly could be at almost 86. So what ever his shortness of breath problem,,its not his ticket. We have some long tests on Thursday , but we're halfway there. Did Lao finally get an upswing of cases? Or are they being extra cautious? I hope that's the case,,because one state after the other,, has gone up. Montana is doing pretty good now,,,but I'm not giving up my masks yet. Bunches of people that have been vaccinated are catching the variants. London variant is the big one now. I read that because of the infection rate on the Indian subcontinent and Brazil and places in Africa,,there are more people have covid right now in the world than ever before. Man ,, I'm praying that it's just an overabundance of caution in Lao. You and Neenee be safe,,Ttyl,,,Marlon
Yeah, I don't think we're far from another full lockdiwn at all. There have been some very stupid people crossing illegally from Thailand that have tested positive.. so it's just wait and see now to see if they have infected anyone. Thailand at the moment are going thru a huge 3rd wave, it's not looking good and we're stuffed if it spreads here. All boats river traffic has been stopped along the Mekong around Vientiane now trying to prevent more stupidity.

Nice video work. I was in Vang Vieng in late Feb 2019 and stayed at the Riverside Boutique Hotel, quite close to your hotel. I looked up their price and it’s $65 per night now. When I was there, I think that I paid around $120. I recall having a nice dinner at your hotel. Beautiful and chill area and the wild parties of the past seem to be gone. I also rented a kayak and guide for a trip on the river. Took several hours and nice way to see the area.
I live in Bangkok most winters and this visit was a visa run but hope to go again in better times.

I got stuck in Vientiane over the Western New Year about 10 years ago ... I went to a local out door celebration party for New year, the Music and groups were rocking it with a mixture of Laos/Thai/western sounds I was quite looking forward to the midnight countdown I was enjoying myself the beer was flowing Then came the countdown. . They got to ONE ... .... .... and nothing ?? No bangs, No whistles or screams of Rockets...... and No Kisses ? ......... Just the sound of many Hundreds of Party Poppers ...the ones where you pull the strings at the bottm and all the streamers POP ..pop, pop.pop ..I presume fireworks are banned in Laos

That's what it's been like here in Laos for most of the Pandemic. Up until March/April, we had less than 60 cases and Zero deaths. Only just recently we started to see an increase...(mainly from people crossing the river illegally)
The Gov' here has done an incredible job containing it considering our neighbours
