I went to this game, as a Celtic fan, and it was unforgettable. A great example of how football can bring the good out in people. Although the actual game wasn’t that important, I was also struck that day by how great that Liverpool team were, especially John Barnes, who glided over the pitch that day, with class and skill - what a player.
I remember standing in the jungle and coins being flung from all angles as collection buckets for the bereaved families were being carried by ballboys. One of the most emotional atmospheres i've experienced in football. YNWA to all the families who lost loved ones in the tragedy that was Hillsborough.
Always remember going to this game and being among supporters of both team's. Came home with a few thing from kind Liverpool Liverpool fan's. God Bless The 96. YNWA 💚❤
Thank you very much Celtic. Great club, fantastic supporters, great people. I’ve been to Parkhead a few times with friends, always great hospitality in the bars with the Celtic faithful. A Liverpool supporter from Belfast. 👍🇮🇪

I was at this match. I wasn't a supporter of either club, but was happy to go and help towards the disaster fund. Needless to say it was an emotional atmosphere throughout the match. Normally a packed Celtic Park is a very hostile place for any opposition - teams and fans - but of course that was never going to be the case here. I recall Kenny Dalglish's comment later that the reception for Liverpool was 'unbelievable'. And I know John Barnes appreciated it, too, as he waved to the Jungle when they chanted his name.
Was there that day, think there was colours there from most clubs including rangers, always remember all the wreaths and flowers behind the goals ,ynwa,
When I lived in Madrid a friend of mine told me they ripped up the train tickets of Liverpool fans, felt they hadn't recovered from the shock. Spent several more days with Scots hosts and it like facing what had taken place would be worth living again.
First three goals, three shots, three saves. So, either the defenders were slow to react and/or Bonnar never learned to redirect his saves away from the strikers.
@@DaveWallerLFC Liverpool Football Club is 100% English. The heart of that club is pumping English blood.. Why would Irish republicans overlook that? I'd understand if the club had been formed by an Irishman.
The first manager was Irish. The first team of players was mostly Scots. I'm not saying there is an Irish republican link in the club, but to say it's 100% English ignores the history of the club and the city.
That's a very strange argument. I think most people would argue that the likes of Liddell, Shankly and Dalglish were a bit more than visitors! A club isn't 100% defined by its founder; it's shaped by its history, players, managers and supporters.

The whole stadium singing You’ll Never Walk Alone was incredible

The double footed challenge leading up to the 3rd goal would not have been allowed nowadays
You could say that about 50% of the tackles back then would not be allowed today! 🇮🇪🍀📿

The relationship is odd since Liverpool is English and Celtic are full of Irish republicans.
Liverpool isn't a typical English city and has had a large Irish population historically. It's not any sort of hotbed of English nationalism.
