    Love the car! Got a 2IS all the way in Fiji! Love the how to and mod videos you have. Stay safe, take it easy and look forward to all your feature content!

    Leaving the engine running is it safe to change battery.
    Does it mean it won't reset the the ecu...
    Please explain thanks

      Probably not safe for most people but I do it to keep all my settings that get cleared by removing battery. Probably overkill but that’s me.

    I just tried to start, only to see that the instrument panel will light up, display the monitor light, and the engine cannot start. I want to ask if there is no electricity? The battery was replaced in April 2017.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s dead battery. The battery these days only last 3 to 4 years max

      @@TunerwithKids I now use the charger to charge the battery, waiting for the dealer's email reply, I bought a one-month 390 warranty. I want to know if the battery has a warranty. If not, I will go to autozone to change a new battery.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those warranty are usually prorated so if it’s near the end, you get nothing. Most new battery now have two year replacement only.

    Hey sinister what have you done for the carbon buildup? Also how are your ball joints looking? I think mine need to be replaced because when I go over bumps, the car jerks to the side. Not sure if it’s the ball joint though, need an inspection.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't done anything for the carbon yet...I have on my list of stuff to do is a catch can DIY. Trying to find nice looking fittings and hoses to make it look OEM first. If I have to take my intake manifold off in the future, I will definately do a walnut blast and video Unfortunately, I just did my spark plugs like 15K miles ago before I started filming DIY videos(would have been the perfect time since its the same labor). For the ball joints, need to jack up and inspect the boots. I have SPC front upper replacements for camber and I have to grease them every few years. I just replaced the SPC boots 2 years ago after 8 years of use, they were both busted.

    any issues with the dash when you disconnected the battery?

      @3fiddy.joe_ yes. I forgot I’d IS250 retains anything but I could be wrong. Also need to reset all your auto window switches by going to each one and rolling them down and back up

    How did you get the positive terminals disconnected from the plastic battery cover? It appears that you should just be able to pry it off but mine will not come off.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s in a clip on the sides. Tricky to pry off.

      @@TunerwithKids Thanks - the battery cover would not fit over the new battery so I ended up cutting it off :-(
      I am working on an older 2010 IS250 and couldn't find the magic spot to release it (the clip is different/easier in newer models).
      Thanks though -- greatly appreciate your video.

    Nice DIY install. Are those Optima batteries good anymore? I had one on my previous car I sold to my friend and it's still running almost 10 years later. I heard Optima got bought out by another company and many people kept posting reviews online about how their quality control went down hill from there. I was actually thinking about getting one for the IS-F but wasn't sure.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard recently that Optima batteries are hit or miss now that they moved the manufacturing to Mexico. Probably the cost reductions to keep the prices competitive have translated to poor QA/QC. I know back in the early 2000s Optima's were the gold standard. My yellowtop lasted like 10 years.

    • @xdejablu3x
      @xdejablu3x 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TunerwithKids That's most likely the case. Hopefully you have good luck with yours. By the way, you have any recommendations in yellow top vs red top or any other brand for my specific needs? I'm going to be running a slightly upgraded sub but uses the stock ML amp, hardwired radar detector, hardwired dashcam and the basic cigarette USB adapters for charging phone or other small electronics. I even have a OBD2 plugged in HUD projector but that's mainly for fun. I wasn't sure if that's considered electronic heavy or not?

  • @TinAirJordan

    I’m looking to getting a new battery in my Lexus IS as well, was wondering if you recommend the Optima red top?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s not bad for the bling and for $30 more than a standard group 24 battery. I got it for $150 after 25% off Advance Auto coupon. Wouldn’t pay the full $200 for it.

    • @TinAirJordan
      @TinAirJordan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TunerwithKids thank you for the quick reply. I got a replacement a couple months ago from Toyota. I’m having cranking issue now with the colder weather here in Cali the past couple days. I’m looking to get one with more CCA to see if that could be the problem. I know optima has 720 CCA.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just bought it. Then it’s under warranty. Have them test it.

    • @TinAirJordan
      @TinAirJordan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TunerwithKids I had them test it and they did it twice this past Satuday, says it fine and car is fine just not sure if because 530-40 CCA is why I’m having trouble starting it in the mornings. Sorry for all this info, just looking into a higher CCA battery and I remember your video thought I stop by and see if you had mentions anything about why you went with this optima battery. (Sadly I can’t return it to Toyota even though it’s only been like 2 months since I got it)

      @@TunerwithKids Just turning it on, and giving it a bit of race is enough to keep it going? What about using those 12V trickle chargers? I bought a Stanley one that can give it a jump if needed in 90 seconds... It's this one: STANLEY-BC15BS. Thoughts? I have a 2015 IS350F.

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      IDK about the jumpers. I usually plug a 2A or 6A charger when the old battery died. With the new one, it’s holding well even though I only drive it once a week these days.

      looks like Advance discovered the code glitch on the Optima's, since Optimas are MSRP controlled, they removed the coupon ability on them.
