SO GLAD you did Rue Des Martyrs. This was where my wife and I spent our last evening in Paris before coming home to Australia, 5 years ago. I miss that street so much! It was vibrant, fun, and I had a rhubarb beer at a wine bar overlooking the street opposite a pedestrian crossing, which was hilarious watching Parisians just leave their cars over the crossing without a care. Gotta love Paris. Walked back to our hotel near the Gare du Nord, through Pigalle, and at night that is quite the experience!

L'Escargot Montorgueil and Le Procope are GREAT choices (Thomas Jefferson ate at Procopes its that old). Some of our other Paris favorite "intermediate level" restaurants are Le Grand Colbert, Brasserie Bofinger, and Café de la Paix. "High End" try La Grande Cascade and Le Grand Véfour, both very expensive but the LUNCH menu is the secret for far less €€€.

Great list as it is almost impossible to narrow it down to 5. As a local it made me think, how many "restaurant streets" could one do to recommend? I would say maybe 30-50...? In your list, I do not longer recommend Mouffetard to visitors because I think it lost its charm and so I would swap that one with rue Oberkampf in the 11e! Also for Japanese/Korean I would consider rue St Anne!

Rue des Martyrs brought back so many wonderful memories. Where you sat at the beginning, near the carousel, was where we would sit some lunchtimes or afternoons just people watching. We would sometimes buy some food and eat it at that spot and enjoy the ambience, traffic and all. We stayed nearby for a week and just loved it. A book titled “The Only Street in Paris: Life on the Rue des Martyrs” by Elaine Sciolino is a great read about one of Paris’s remaining quirky villages. Have subscribed and am looking forward to watching more of your entertaining and informative videos.
