Good Morning Renea, so good to see you this morning!! You are cooking one of my favorite, yum!! I hear that you was looking at a stove that you was admiring for 3,000. This is just my thought, you work so hard cooking daily for your friends and family, and your farmstand and I personally say that you deserve that stove, it would make things much easier for you, you do so much for others and you should treat yourself, just a thought because I feel you totally deserve something that you will enjoy for yourself. Love ya and I absolutely love your channel, have you ever thought of doing a Live?, it would be so much fun interacting with you. Have a marvelous day!

Good morning Renae just woke up, saw you and I see you intend to make sausage gravy with some good looking meat there. Sounds good and delicious. Here in Chicago ,Illinois is 7 a m so you are not too far ahead. Just made a little soft bread dough to fry if my sons come by. They never want me to bother but I love to spoil them. Crazy weather here too no snow. Cold then warm, you never know. I love cast iron too. I use them often, but I should oil them after washing.thanks for the tip. You inspire me I’m 80, so I too love to cook, and bake. So glad I found you. Have a blessed day. ❤❤

Totally agree on your care of cast iron pans, I do the same thing, after I wash them with hot soapy water and dry very thoroughly a lil bit of olive oil spread and heat them on 200 for like an hour. Cannot deal with re using a dirty pan either.

Renee I am thrilled to hear you use hot soapy water to clean your cast iron…I’m 72…have one of my moms pans that has been washed and reheated and oiled like you do for over 100 years now and it’s still beautiful…lol ❤✌️

My happiest memories are Saturday mornings with my Granny and Papa. They made bacon gravy and biscuits together. They would let my sister and me drink coffee milk, lol. It was milk with a little bit of coffee and sugar. We felt so grown up. My grandparents raised my sister and me and I miss them so much! They were born in 1901 and passed when they were 81 and 78. I thank God for them as who knows where my sister and I would be if they hadn’t taken us in.

It's such a joy to see someone down to earth cooking old fashioned food. Thank you for sharing your recipes! You are a joy to watch. I've always washed my cast iron with soap and water. I've heard that the old rule of not using soap came from back when they used Lye soap. That would eat away at the iron and leach into the food.
I really enjoy watching your videos. I found you about 3 weeks ago and have seen so many delicious, down home, meals that you've made. I love the rolls and cinnamon rolls!!!!

Greetings to all from Iowa!!! Here in the pork state, when I make sausage gravy, I will either grind up or finely mince up bacon to mix in with the sausage while it cooks. I will buy a box of bacon ends and pieces from the grocery store and that is what I use. Makes extra fat for your roux and gives amazing flavor to your gravy. I use those same ends and pieces when I cook down fresh green beans with bacon and onion, or for making the dressing for wilted lettuce salad! Who else is ready to snip, pick, or pluck some home grown veggies soon? 🌽🥕🫙🍅🥬🥒🫑

I cook in my cast iron and always wash it with soap!! I know the rules, too, but that really does work for me and I feel a lot better!! :D You are just the cutest thing, and then you asked us to watch the video of you and your mother. I did. I am so sorry for your loss. I know it's been a while now, but I can't imagine that you ever get over the one who loved you the most. I watched you, watch her. Hi Renea and John! Absolutely nothing wrong with cleaning the cast iron pans with soap and water, been doing it for years and I’ve never had any problems with my pans.
John said you missed a spot with that sausage gravy and your grand daughter is hungry too, lol. Everything looked delicious. Have a blessed day!

Hi from Norfolk UK. Love that pan. Never had sausage gravy like yours in USA. Ours is water and cornflour in with the sausage juices. Must try it. Looks yum.

Last weekend I made a batch of buttermilk biscuits & froze half. Picked up breakfast sausage on quick sale, same day I scooped up the 10lbs of bacon ends/irregular marked down from $44.99 to $24.99. I cooked up some bacon & put it in the fridge. This week then I made up sausage gravy, cut the bacon into bits, added that (& onion) pulled some biscuits out of the freezer(flash froze them, then vacuum sealed it)& baked them up. So quick & easy. Good comfort food. I love my gas stove! Had one electric stove in my first house, hated it.

Great video Renea! Like you, I wash my cast iron with soap and water. As long as the soap doesn't contain lye you're good. Years ago soap was made with lye and it would cut the seasoning off but nowadays lye isn't used in commercial dish soap so it is safe to use on cast iron. Also, that wasn't enough pepper for me.......I love LOTS of pepper........LOL

I have always added onions to my sausage gravy. But, then I love minced onions in almost everything I cook. Enjoy your weekend.

I just got a gas stove. I love it. My husband found it half price because it was last years model and it had a dent in the side that you don’t see because it slides into my cupboards. It has the grill in the middles. Two large fast burners and two a bit smaller. I love it. That instant constant heat is amazing!

Scratch and dent modles are the best.. They give you lots of haggling for a price room....Good for you.
