This is why if I ever create a shelter or small community for those on the verge of homelessness or are homeless, it will have different sections to accommate different people. I am NOT a biological woman. I am a woman. I didn’t alter my biology to become a woman and I haven’t theorised my social and cultural circumstances to make myself into one. Women are women. I’ve lived through all of the pains of a female body, all of the pressures expected of a female and through all the strength that it takes to safely be a female. Trans women can be trans women, but I am just a woman and I don’t need to state my pronouns. It hurts me to do these things and the fear of being called names and aggressed for speaking out on my pain humiliates me.

Thank God women are speaking up! We are forced to share a locker room with a male at work. I am Also a survivor & it deeply troubles me that the law is protecting MEN & allowing them Into our safe spaces. I have chosen to change into my uniform in a single bathroom down the hall, next to the kitchen Instead of the Women’s locker room because I’m fully aware that nothing will change. DeSantis passed a law in for Florida in July regarding this however it “ is limited to people using restrooms and changing facilities in state and local government buildings, schools, colleges and detention centers.” We have to continue to speak up. I wrote a letter to HR about my reasonings for not wanting a man in my space & have yet to hear back from them. . .

I go to UPenn and was originally part of the same graduating class as this girl and Lia (I took off for 2 years when COVID happened, so was not at the school during this). Another student, a so-called "friend", had exposed himself around me 3 times when we were freshmen. The first time we were in my room and I was lying in bed, sick. I can imagine how frightened and uncomfortable my fellow students must have felt in that locker room. Surely Lia could have been the one that changed in the family bathroom? I have no issue with someone transitioning their gender, but if her conduct in the locker room was making the other swimmers uncomfortable, it only makes sense to remove her from the situation vs. "re-educating" the entire team to deal with it.
The latter half of your statement doesn't make much sense when it seems clear that problem was an anatomical matter (or at least one of birth sex), rather than one of conduct. ----- Aside from, say, bottom surgery, it's difficult to see how a trans woman in the women's locker room could possibly behave in a way that would universally be considered proper conduct. It only takes one other person to object, with or without grounds, for their to be an issue.
Her "conduct" was changing her clothes. I have PTSD partly from sexual harrassment (that happened at the hands of cisgender women) and I'm triggered almost every time I see a cop, paramedic or ambulance. However, I do not insist that they never be in the same area as me........because I do not expect the world to accommodate my needs. Lia did absolutely nothing wrong.

As a survivor of childhood abuse and domestic violence I struggle with PTSD. The situations they are in would absolutely he triggering. I have prayed for the girls silently coping with trauma and hope things go back to normal.

Thank God women are speaking up! We are forced to share a locker room with a male at work. I am Also a survivor & it deeply troubles me that the law is protecting MEN & allowing them Into our safe spaces. I have chosen to change into my uniform in a single bathroom down the hall, next to the kitchen Instead of the Women’s locker room because I’m fully aware that nothing will change. DeSantis passed a law in for Florida in July regarding this however it “ is limited to people using restrooms and changing facilities in state and local government buildings, schools, colleges and detention centers.”
We have to continue to speak up. I wrote a letter to HR about my reasonings for not wanting a man in my space & have yet to hear back from them. . .

I go to UPenn and was originally part of the same graduating class as this girl and Lia (I took off for 2 years when COVID happened, so was not at the school during this). Another student, a so-called "friend", had exposed himself around me 3 times when we were freshmen. The first time we were in my room and I was lying in bed, sick. I can imagine how frightened and uncomfortable my fellow students must have felt in that locker room. Surely Lia could have been the one that changed in the family bathroom? I have no issue with someone transitioning their gender, but if her conduct in the locker room was making the other swimmers uncomfortable, it only makes sense to remove her from the situation vs. "re-educating" the entire team to deal with it.

The latter half of your statement doesn't make much sense when it seems clear that problem was an anatomical matter (or at least one of birth sex), rather than one of conduct. ----- Aside from, say, bottom surgery, it's difficult to see how a trans woman in the women's locker room could possibly behave in a way that would universally be considered proper conduct. It only takes one other person to object, with or without grounds, for their to be an issue.
Her "conduct" was changing her clothes. I have PTSD partly from sexual harrassment (that happened at the hands of cisgender women) and I'm triggered almost every time I see a cop, paramedic or ambulance. However, I do not insist that they never be in the same area as me........because I do not expect the world to accommodate my needs. Lia did absolutely nothing wrong.

But laws are not about like or dislike, they are about justice, order, freedom. And i don't think it is righteous that womens spaces are being invaded, in sports, changing rooms, restrooms, etc., because sadly we live in a society, in which most sexual assault victims are women and most perpetrators men. And while there are trans-women that have transformed so completely that i personally would not feel uncomfortable being in the same restroom or changing rooms. But there have been cases of creepy men, just saying: i am a woman, to gain access to these areas. And nobody botheres to ask the women, if they are ok with it.
Also womens biological bodies can't bringt the same athletic achievements and therefore it is unfair to have them compete with biological male.
Like the women speaking in this hearing said: they felt uncomfortable, but never once been asked how they felt about all of this. They were supposed to just shut up and deal with it. And i find this appalling.

As the father of 3 daughters and a girls high school varsity coach in field hockey and softball, I applaud Ms. Scanlan for speaking up. The fact that UPenn silenced her and the concerns of all the female swimmers is concerning. We need to support these women without fail.
