- We did see this coming, but we still hated it 😓
It was such a beautiful episode but we couldn't really enjoy it because we were all the time expecting for Riley and Ellie to get infected, it was so painful 😩
We have some opinions about their relationship, specially about how easily Riley could tell Ellie what to do, but they were still two kids that were in love and tried to have a nice night out in their context, so it was sad 😭
The parallel with the present was very interesting, we hope she can save Joel 🙏

Ellie closes her eyes and imagines what Riley is describing. It was a beautiful scene. F.E.D.R.A. does hold it together. In episode 3 Frank tells Bill Baltimore QZ is gone. In Kansas City the QZ fell to rebels and Kansas City quickly fell after. No matter the QZ when F.E.D.R.A. was removed from power the QZ crashed. 19:46 Canon. Ellie was gay and she was in love with Riley. 21:02 "Her name was Riley, and she was the first to die." -Ellie.
Cool! They kept a lot of things from the game.
Also it's really interesting to see how it would go if FEDRA was removed. It definitely puts things into perspective.
Remember that the Fireflies also kept Ellie, a 14 year old kid, chained to a radiator in a room by herself for about three weeks. That room had a fireplace, so it probably had no running water for a toilet or a sink. And they probably didn’t give her a change of clothes. And it didn’t look like anyone talked with her except to do a test once a day. They’re not exactly great with the welfare of kids. 😮
There is such a thing as a bucket toilet.
Also, a change of clothing isn't going to be given that much important in the apocalypse.
Even in a working society, with physical exertion and mud, in Boot Camp (4th Battalion Parris Island in the 90's) we were issued 3 Cammies sets, and 3 shirt/shorts that doubled as our physical fitness gear (and underwear). The underwear and shirt/shorts were washed daily but the cammies were only washed weekly.
Ellie wasn't even exerting herself with drill in the sun, marching to the chow hall and waiting outside until you could be marched in, lessons, obstacle courses, puggle sticks, rappel tower, rifle range, being punished, etc.
The range of emotions Ellie experienced in this episode was huge. She got to be a sillly carefree teenager for probably tge first time in her life, experienced whst was probably her first kiss followed immediately by fear of rejection and then pure joy when she saw Riley felt the same way. That little smile was so sweet. Then there was the whole fighting for your life, kilking your girlfriend, then expecting to turn at any second.
Yes! Her smile before everything went wrong was so beautiful and sad 😢
the quick cut to Joel shivering in the basement broke my heart. the fact that he stopped shivering when Ellie came back was almost like showing he knew he could hold on and he wouldn’t be alone…😢

Riley wanted to take Ellie to the mall to show her an amazing night not a boring night at the dorm.She had no idea there was any danger there only the viewers knew that.
Right, but the anxiety of knowing made us lose our minds with every second that passed 😅
For a brief moment, you actually got to see Ellie truly happy. Right after she kissed Riley and Riley liked it. There was an endearing smile on Ellie’s face. So precious. 🥰 Once again ladies, great reaction. 😊

We totally felt she was truly happy there, but we couldn't totally enjoy it because we knew how it would end😭
Ellie remembered that Riley said that she didn’t want to give up any time they had left together. Ellie didn’t want to give up the time she had left with Joel either and that motivated her to try to save Joel against all odds.
That's so amazing!! It's so sad Ellie had to loose Riley to learn that.
Yeah, the 20 year old glass they were dancing on made me twitchy and nervous.

we know Riley isn't around and something probably happened to her and Ellie in the mall however its much better to just watch the scenes play out without trying to predict the exact moment trouble comes. The dialogue between Riley and Ellie is really well done here and we also see a side of Ellie we haven't seen yet where she's clearly comfortable being herself with Riley.
Looking at Ellie being truly happy like never before after kissing Riley was so devastating! She never had that smile again 🥺

as much as Riley plays a huge part on why Ellie is Ellie, there's no reason to doubt or think too much if Riley is good or bad, she's just a character who was dear to Ellie, and loved Ellie.
We didn't know much about her and with a show this sad, were scared of her intentions. We're glad she was a nice memory for Ellie, but it was so sad to know how it ended.
One thing i can say about ellie and riley is that both are balls deep in yo an apocalypse..ya know? Everything they know is a learned experience without much adult eh..whats yhe word?... Guidance? Not that word.. most the adults don't give a fuck... Tbh ellie and Riley i feel basically grew up in a vacuum its actually not dissimilar to myself growing up in yhe 80s/90s no one talked... Only thing seperating a good path and bad was random talks between friends while probably occasionally fucking about on yhe streets of ones cirty drinking shit cider being rebellious ❤ this hits harder than some may admit.. at least tlou sees it and puts it out there for people yo see.
That's a very interesting take on it, the upbringing of kids in an apocalypse is definitely going to be quite different than our own 😅
The awkward teen romance, the not knowing whether to say anything because what if the other person doesn't feel that way... man, it's so beautiful and sad.
And then they got all of 20 seconds of happiness before everything turned to shit. Sniff.

Sorry for the late reply, there was a beloved TV series..."Firefly" and a character had a cold weather hat, and viewers started wearing that type of hat.
That's what I meant.
And if you were to ever watch a series, a must is "Firefly", perhaps some of the best TV since...well, I'll hold off until you watch "Firefly".

Not absolutely clued up on relationships tbh especially gay ones..although honestly i do feel circumstance doesn't matter..i do feel at least i git it... To me left alone felt about as realistic a yhesis on relationships as any.. relationships makes you blindly forget yer surroundings etc..makes you blind to everything this was probably as realistic a depiction of young love as I've ever seen.. and fast forward that..how yhose moments makes you love in the yhe present..yhe way Ellie didn't give up on Joel.. the scene wer joel yhrew her (which btw was some scene ellies face was shock..yet determination) yhe acting on this show is 🫶

I'm enjoying your reactions, but it's interesting to me how you seem to repeatedly overlook the fact that this takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. Things aren't going to be perfect. The Fireflies will post a "child" to a potentially dangerous place because they don't have someone else to post there. They won't check out the mall 100% top to bottom because they don't have enough people and enough time to do so. Ellie isn't going to clean the surgical supplies with alcohol because she doesn't have any. She can't exactly run down to the corner shops to buy some. All of these people are doing the best they can with extremely limited resources.
We were just very frustrated 😅

We wouldn't say worst, but it's definitely one that we all knew the ending before watching it so we couldn't enjoy much
Least liked in the game too. But idk i like it. But suspence isn't realy there even more so for us who's played the game. But it's also quite obvious for viewers as well.
