Originally, the plan was to head South to do some boondocking near the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, but an extreme heat event changed my mind! I thought the first week of June would be a good time to visit the National Park, but with the way things are now, it's hard to know what the weather will do.
Despite that though, I'm so grateful to have snagged a last minute cancelation for a different campground in Northern Colorado, where the temperatures were perfect. I read a trail report for that area just 5 days prior that said to expect 3-4 feet of snow still in the area, but by the time we got there I would estimate 90% of it was melted. We did see a few avalanche warnings, but mostly it was just runoff.
Summer is here and it's packing a punch! Stay safe out there everyone!

They are so lucky to have you and vice versa I'm sure. after spending the last almost 50 years in and out of CO (almost every city and national park there is in CO and WY) I'm in eastern, NE, and I get to live vicariously through channels like yours. For your own personal safety have a weapon to defend yourself when camping/hiking like an 8" survivor knife, stun gun, mace, and machete, I added a Bruni New Police 9mm Pak blank pistol (very loud) and a .50 cal Umarex TR50 Paintball Revolver paintball airgun to my RV/ camping arsenal. Both are non-lethal and each is under $100. I also added a solar motion sensor LED lights and have an intruder alert. Remember even if you do not have a gun you can bluff "Go away I am armed with a gun.".Also, buy some M80 firecrackers when you hear weird noises or footsteps outside your tent light one up, and throw it out the window after the big bang you will scare most critters away.

I did a bad job at explaining our bed setup in my RV tour, so it's something I want to address in the future at some point because I think others are also curious. But basically I bought an 8 inch foam mattress and cut it down to fit the curve of the rig. It's super comfortable and we love it, however, it does make getting to the water pump a pain because it's heavy!

I'm thinking about selling my house, unlocking the capital tied up in the house to get more $ invested in tech startups, and transition to a full time van life and staying the 14 day limit in national forests and such. Are there places you've been that would allow access to bathing in clean rivers and lakes. I could heat up the water over a fire and use a foot pump operated shower. Thought about sleeping in busy factory parking lots near 24 hour fitness facilities for showers as an idea as well. I've worked at 2 large factories and noticed with hundreds of cars parked 24/7, that could possibly be a great resource.
