Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

Thank you very much! Your explanation of when to adjust the gap on the intake valve is the best that I've seen on TH-cam. You did a great job of explaining when to adjust those valves! Thanks again, Thomas.

Thomas , at 4:00 you're backwards about the locknut and the adjuster . The center bolt is the lock and the outer nut is used to adjust the gap (lash) . You're correct in the specs , well within factory spec's. Nice shop . Hope this helps .

Thank you for sharing. My valves were the same as yours. My zero turn mower was bogging down when going through the grass. I have never done this before. It was pretty simple thanks to your video. It's running really good now.

Anytime one valve is open, you can adjust the other one. You don't have to adjust them both at the same time by finding TDC of the compression stroke.

Just got an old Simplicity Regent 16H with the 16 HP Kohler engine, it would struggle to get up even the lowest grade on my lawn. Did the valve adjustment, and it really woke up! Doesn't feel like it's going to stall when I turn on the blades anymore.

I have a Kohler 7000 with 4 valves 2 on either side of the engine going to try your technique ... also once I achieve tdc is 1/4 turn more The golden rule or can the adjustment be made at tdc without a 1/4 turn more? I’ve been struggling try to get this adjustment correct mower is having difficulty turning over it’s a struggle to get it started! To much compression is my issue! I take spark plugs out and motor over just fine! Put them back in oh boy half turn then stops or full turn and stops it gets on my nerves!!!! But I’m determined to fix my baby so I’m headed to the garage now to operate👍🏾

  • @BillyTpower

So basically turn engine until both valve rockers float at the same time then bring piston to tdc then adjust. Correct? It’s not necessary to worry about what stroke it’s on because if both valve rockers are floating then it’s on compression. Correct? Do I have an understanding, or am I way off base?

@Thomas Brian. I was curious with a simple fast question. Do valves cause a issue where gas can feed back out breath tube and also gas in oil? I am attempting to narrow down my nightmare. Past month I brought 3 used Nikki carbs and rebuilt them.Every one I put on my mower floods engine when started. I got a shut off gas valve. But 30 sec when started engine dies and gas is all in engine bad and oil. Strickly carb issue or valves can play a part in my issue? Yard Machine 2007 rider 17.5 Briggs I/C. Nikki carb 799727. Just curious if valves would cause a issue like I explained gas wise and flood. Keep in mind I put 3 original used rebuilt Nikki carbs on it and same issue. Rebuilt as in fully gutted, full clean and full original haul kit put in.

Rotate the engine until one valve is fully open and then adjust the other valve. When one is open, the other is closed. No need for finding TDC.

    • @thomasbriansavingmoney

its best to not have pressure on any valve when adjusting. tdc is not required, but the valve your adjusting, floating is. thanks for watching.
