Ceeriously, a great and time-consuming effort. Michael Stuhlbarg did a brilliant job of bringing Rothstein to multi-faceted life. He’s a great character. ‘Boardwalk Empire,’ like so many other contenders for ‘The Sopranos’ crown as the greatest of all-time, couldn’t stick the landing. The final season sucked! If they had interspersed the flashback sequences of young Nucky throughout the series (the way The Sopranos did) it would have been very effective. But, to turn almost the entire final season over to young Nucky flashbacks was a fatal error. Then, they compounded the error by bringing back Gillian. Of all the contenders for the title of GOAT, only ‘The Sopranos’ delivered brilliant seasons for the entire run, with the exception of ‘Deadwood,’ which was stupidly cancelled after only 3 seasons, and ‘Bosch’ which, whilst excellent, is not in ‘The Sopranos’ league. I have rewatched ‘Boardwalk’ several times and I just skip the final season.
