This is now our most watched video by far. If you enjoy Kevin Smith’s insightful comedy, check out our video essays!! Snootchie Bootchies 💨😇🙏🏻
Thank you for posting! Such a hard to find movie. Really wish they'd sell the rights back to Kevin Smith so he could put it on some kind of streaming service or something.
The Catholic League is the reason why this movie's hitting for you guys. It's very hard to see this anywhere, without having an illegal copy or physical copy.
Good stuff! 👍🍻 Don't mind idiots, keep going!

Always. The 90s was an amazing time when anything was possible. The song “the dream of the 90s is alive in Portland” from Portlandia describes it so perfectly.
That platypus disclaimer will never not be funny 🤣
Feels like the Monty Python Holy grail opening.

Amazing cast, but I adored the late Alan Rickman and George Carlin! It was genius making Carlin a clergyman. Biting satire 👍👍👍
RIP you majestic creature
It’s still true after all these years 😂
I never thought I was going to see it again. It's one of my favorite movies of all times.
You could've got it on DVD or something, I mean it costs like $0.01 😄
No , I could not. Mr Smith blocked even DVD sales for a while.
Does it remind you of how you should have lived your life.........?
Knowing my faith, I ventured into this movie when it came out. I was much younger. Now, at 55, I've grown to not only like this movie, I've come to appreciate it, and the many messages involved in the storytelling. A+++++++
Same. I like how smart it is. It makes you think..
I got in trouble for talking about it at a youth event not like real trouble just scolding, then got another when I had the movie playing in my car at another event. But they never said anything about any other Kevin Smith movies I watched all the time on trips (I had a TV and VCP in my car in the 90's)
Best stay with your faith. This is a movie......
I’m so happy I was able to watch this after all these years. 10 Buddy o’christs out of 10
Where have you been......islamabad?
According to Kevin Smith, when this movie was getting ready to come out, or after it had come out, Kevin Smith joined protesters, who had an issue with this movie. Apparently, the protesters didn't even recognize him. The rest is history.
Went undercover to protest his own movie?? Yea that sound like Kevin Smith.
Not only did he do it, if you look on youtube there is video from a local news channel that shows him protesting his own movie with these people and being interviewed as a protester lol.
Yeah there's a reason for that.
The protesters were the best advertisers.

As a Catholic, I still love this movie. It's hilarious and thought provoking. Very well done
Is any of the Catholic dogma in the movie actually based on real beliefs? Asking cuz I'm not Christian so I wouldn't know. I wonder how many Catholics take it seriously.
@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty Technically Catholics aren't Christians - they removed a commandment and even have their own bibles...
Look up the actual "10 commandments" the second one is to 'not create any graven image of anything in the skies above, or in the earth below, or in the waters below the earth - do not bow down to them or worship them' (typed in modern english but you get the idea..). They have tons of statues and paintings and "artifacts" and literally consider it all holy. Like what they think is a piece of the cross, or a painting, etc etc - all actually holy, and worthy of worship. This is actually idolatry and the entire rest of the bible gives examples of not doing it...
(there are actually a ton of differences between Catholicism and Christianity (Which is just 'following jesus') but I'll stop, this is not being typed here to bash Catholics (although it may get some to look things up and examine their Religion - note: jesus didn't want religions, he literally gave the jews heck for having their rituals and repetition and ornaments))
This is no longer on any streaming platform. So i thank you for this

I watched this GOAT movie every year.
I love George Carlin!
Theres a plot hole in this movie. The angels know everything about everyone but when they meet the "last sion" on the train they dont know who she is.
The bigger plot hole is why can’t they just have become human at any point, gone to confession, been absolved and then lived and died like normal to return to heaven 😆 That being said this is a perfect movie and I have no real notes.
@@jessicahuntington ...Because that would undo existence itself? Its explained in the movie.
@@cattleherder1912…I am aware of the repercussions. That wasn’t the question. The question is why did they need this special ceremony to have their sins forgiven when confession does the same thing in the catholic religion. Why was this particular event necessary. They could have technically become human at any time and then just gone to confession.
@@jessicahuntington Ah yeah I get the question now.
I guess its because they wanna die as quickly as possible right after they are absolved of their sins before god get the chance to intervene, right?
Like logistically (I guess) its harder to first commit mass murder and then sit down to do a confession in peace and then right after that get shot by the cops, than just attending this ceremony.
@@jessicahuntington Lol made a lengthy reply but youtubes censorship bot removed it. Cant explain a movie apparently, thats a big no-no! Must not use naught words!
Anyways yes, I see what you mean now.
Basically they wanna "go to heaven" quickly after being absolved of their sins before god get the chance to intervene, right?
So I guess its harder to do the "bad things" they do in the movie and then peacefully sit down and do a confession and then "go to heaven" when the cops show up than just attending this ceremony, right?
Can we please just get the old youtube back?
I really enjoyed this movie. Never seen it b4. Thanks for posting it!

An epic A list cast. Perfect writing. Funny. Smart. Witty.... And Carlin.

I’ve seen a lot of the Smith Universe films , hadn’t seen this one and was kind of amazing to see the origin and explanation of the buddy christ which I was ignorant to for years, potentially decades even.
I have loved this movie for twenty-five years now, since I saw it in the theaters. You only have to understand one thing to get it, it's a combination of Kevin's greatest lifelong passions. It is a comic book movie about the mythology of Christianity/Catholicism, and I mean that in only the most complimentary way. It's very fitting it segues into a comic book prequel carrying Jay and Bob from Chasing Amy to this event, because it is a comic book event in every way, from the apocalyptic plot, mounting tension road trip structure, and the layered and derivative (in the good way) characters, to the overly complicated metaphysics and deeper philosophical meanings, as someone who treats comic books as a religion myself, that IS what this movie is, what Kevin saw it as when he dreamed it up. If you understand that, you will know everything you ever need to about this unique and bizarre little masterpiece to appreciate it at it's fullest potential. Enjoy.
A classic all-time favorite for me. Never gets old
Stellar cast and a hard choice to make, but I have to say Jason Lee is the standout in this film. Brilliant performance.
Someone said in these comments that Ryan Reynolds stole Jason Lee’s whole personality and now I can’t unsee it

YAY! I've missed this movie!
I just noticed. Matt damon gets a desert eagle from the pawn shop. Jason lee uses an uzi to make a holy bartender.
This movie is centered around Abrahamic religions. Both firearms are made in Israel. I wonder if that was intentional or just an oddly appropriate coincidence.
Yeah, because there are things in this movie that weren't intentional.
32:16 "I'll scream rape" 😂 gotta love Jay
One of my favorite new movies wow! Thank you!
Makes me old apparently but sad that I mention any number of k. Smiths movies everyday and nobody is familiar?! Not even from Jersey. And I work at a cannabis dispensary so it comes up lol. Maybe they saw clerks years ago but his cinematic universe is timeless. Or maybe a period piece in their own right, ie mallrats, lol the point is they hold up. The man’s body of work is worth recognition. But Dogma is capstone in my opinion. RIP A. Rickman as well.
The askewuniverse is awesome enjoy more than the marvel universe or any other ripoffs kevin did it first lol not really but he did it better
So now I’m trying to remember if jay and silent bob ever reference the events of this movie in any of the other movies. This was a pretty fantastic adventure for them.
So glad this movie still holds up.
Wait...Matt Damon played Loki in Thor! lol
Woah. Meta
The thing with Bardlebe killing Loki is they dont succeed. So Lokie, dying as a human for his sins, has to go to hell for eternity. And "existence" gets to continue. Cuz Bardlebe failed in his attempt. So Loki gets sent to hell forever which he was against in the opening scenes otherwise. Cuz Bardlebe's arrogance. When Loki was the more "moral" of the two basically. Tragic.
He actually didn’t get sent to hell
So glad this movie popped up in my feed. This is a masterpiece, one of my all time favorites ❤😍. Great for a Friday night in. Time to order pizza.😂
