  • I made it to Vienna, but it's a little bit "moody" out. And while moody makes for great landscape photography, how is it for travel?

    Vienna is a travel photography dream. It's just so photogenic, even when the weather isn't great. I ran into some moody light and weather with my photos in the capital of Austria - but that's OK. Travel photography doesn't need to always be epic or blue sky. Moody photography works as well.

    Scaffolds, catering trucks, and event tents, the bane of photographers everywhere.

    took a trip from kaiserslautern, germany to vienna in 2001. It was a gorgeous sight to see. I'm from alabama so i know i stuck out like a turd in a punch bowl but i was awestruck by that city.

    I had the privilege of visiting Vienna in June of this year. I was there for a meeting, but had a couple days before and after the meeting to take photos of the beautiful city. I had beautiful weather. I loved Karl's church and the reflections (the inside is very interesting) and took photos of the Belvedere Palace inside and out with the flower gardens and fountains. The Volksgarten (Rose garden) was spectacular. I was able to stay a block from the Opera House, so was very central to everything. The Schonbrun Palace was also spectacular on the outside (still haven't paid to go inside). The Zoo was fantastic (world's oldest). I even did a whole collection of statues and sculptures of Vienna. I even got to go on a bike ride along the Danube. Vienna is wonderful, enjoy your time.

    Watching this moody video has put me in quite a good mood! I remember visiting the grounds of Belvedere Palace last year, but it was more sunny. The scenery is quite photogenic!

    When I was at Belvedere two weeks ago there were no tents or trucks. Just hordes of tourists. I would've preferred the tenst and trucks...

    Always interesting to see your own city through the eyes of someone else. Amazing pictures too :)
    Also about the cigarette butts: My gf (who is not from here) keeps saying "People in Vienna must think that cigarette butts just return to nature like that" 😅

    I guess your brief as a travel photographer working for a client is 'Shoot X Y and Z' but what images would YOU shoot for yourself, OR if you wanted to make fine art prints what would you look for?

    Vienna, I'm hungry for some Kaiserschmarrn.
    That fountain and the palace would make a great Cinemagraph.

    Those reflections are awesome. I always look for reflections in my photography too. And tilt shift lens is still a dream lens to me. For moody or overcast days, i normally go B/W. great travel video.

    1:30 you mean like "Keystone Correction" in the E-M1 Mk II for straightening converging lines in the camera ?......you are right Bren, it's a wonderful feature to have with you. I use it with my 7-14 2.8 Pro(EFL 14-28mm)

      That's a good a focal length I've seen some good architectural photos with that lens but the price the price mucho fasul unless you are a super pro architectural photographer

      Pablo Gonzalez Aren’t these lenses obsolete now that verticals can be straightened in post processing?

    • @pablogonzalez8304
      @pablogonzalez8304 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christianpetersen1782 If camera stores are still selling these lenses it must be for a reason. I met a photographer who just shoots architecture ( that's his bread and butter) and he uses the 24mm tilt shift lens. Sure you can "fix" it in post but you may not always have good results. There is saying that it's better to get right in camera. I read something on this on Fstoppers. I am not a pro so...

    Two things I’ve learned from your videos...you’re really really good at photography but really weak at time management 😂😂😂😂 You always seem to be running out of time....
