  • This shows that you don't have to spend a lot to get a great EDC set up. Everything in this budget Everyday Carry comes in at around £100/$100 in total!
This great value EDC selection includes a quality knife, wallet, flashlight/torch, pen and a key carry solution. Budget maybe, but still great quality Everyday Carry.
My name is Jonathan, I have a passion for all things 'gadget, travel and EDC' which has filled both my personal and work life for many years. This includes sourcing, reviewing and product development and the creation of two UK national retail chains. Find out more here: • About Jon Gadget - Who...
This channel is here to help you find great travel and carry gear on the back of solid and detailed reviews along with years of experience. I also hope to give you ideas and inspiration when it comes to everyday carry gear, travel gear and gadgets, which make life a little bit easier and perhaps more fun.
I welcome any feedback on my videos or the channel in general. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
    Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! - so my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live, until the next video goes live a week later. I'll see how that works out 😊
Thank you for supporting the channel so I can continue to provide you with regular reviews, thoughts and ideas and (hopefully) inspiration! Please consider subscribing to keep up to date with new video releases.

My top choice for a budget (ish!) EDC flashlight is the Fenix E-Lite at £20.

Jon do you have a recommendation for flashlight w/power bank?

  • @eliansalinas7022

RovyVon flashlights are literally the ideal EDC flashlight. Pocket clip that can be used as a hat clip, EXTREMELY tiny, weighs almost nothing, blindingly bright, INCREDIBLY long run times… there is nothing that is bad about these lights EXCEPT for only having Micro USB charging. These are probably the perfect gift for anyone who likes EDC, flashlights, or just anyone in general.

They are even brighter and lighter than a lot of headlamps.

The best budget minimalist wallet is a large binder clip. You get a handful of them for a dollar/pound, they weigh virtually nothing, they'll hold several hundred dollars in mixed bills with plenty of room left for a stack of cards and a card style tool, you have two built-in rings so you can clip it to stuff, and since both rings are removable with an open end you can even use it as a keyring. Not sure if I'd recommend putting a tracker in there though; it might get crushed.
Unless you need larger blade, the best budget minimalist knife is the venerable Vic Classic.

That's just so cool, people in the US ordering from HH in Wales! Normally we in the UK get frustrated at the limited availability of EDC gear compared to the US! Heinnie Haynes are renowned here in the UK for their almost magical quick delivery, like we order something online at 5pm and the postman brings it the very next morning.

Great budget EDC video Jon! I recently purchased a Tombow Airpress and love it. Writes super well and is so light. I always have a hero clip attached to my EDC bag, but never thought how useful it could be for your keys. Have yet to get a Rovyvon flashlight but ive heard many good things so might have to soon. Thanks again and have a great day!

I don’t do wallet’s but for the torch I would have gone for one with a removable battery, I have the titanium keychain Rovyvon and once the battery reaches a certain number of charge cycles it’s essentially useless and tbh, they don’t last that long from new. For the a budget knife I went with the Boker Plus Atlas Multi SW, £30 so I can pull it through the kitchen sharpener when it need it, I always carry a decently sized budget blade as I use it for all the crappy tasks like parcels and the smaller blades just don’t “cut it”.

Security tip: keep your car keys on a separate keyring from your house keys.
Because if you don't and someone 'acquires' your car keys, they will also have your house keys, and you will have to change all of the locks on your house.
Sadly, I learned this the hard way.

Great concept. Loved this video. Last week I added a standard size, stainless steel Parker Jotter to my edc. I bought a .5mm black ink quinkflow cartridge at the same time to replace the .7mm blue ink one that came with the pen. I don't like blue ink and I prefer the very slightly smaller writing from .5mm. Not ground breaking I know but I'm very much enjoying this pen. Congrats on 40,000 subscribers!!! Cheers from Toronto, Canada.🍻

Thank you Jon for introducing me to practical EDC. I've finally found a channel that didn't obsess over knives or feature kits that would make one look like a repairman at a grocery store. You've helped me assemble my hiking EDC and now I'm working on my car EDC.
One item that I'm adding to my hiking and car EDC are BigOtters compressed towels. Individually wrapped and made of cotton so they can double as tinder, I can stash just a few in pretty much any pack I have. Cheers from the US and keep up the good work!

Great EDC kit. I absolutely love your kits. While I tend to include everything and the kitchen sink (and then not carry it, as it is to big), your kits are always well thought out, include everything one might need and every single item actually doubles as a stylish accessory for a man. Being from Germany, I also appreciate the knives you show, because weapon laws here are comparable (and I also like to have scissors with me).
Please keep up the good work and continue giving us ideas for practical, stylish EDC/ Gear/ prepping solutions. Thank you very much. SK

If anyone wants a great alternative to that knife; look up the Boker Plus Atlas. There's a version that's pretty much exactly the same thing, with scissors too. 👍

Thank you for this channel! I have gotten so much great info from you and in some cases, verified what I already had learned! I have a Victorinox edc knife that the magnifying glass ( clear plastic not gray) has broken and I lost the lens. I am in USA, Texas and cannot find where to purchase the magnifying lens assy., or take it to be repaired. Is Victorinox controlling the replacement parts to keep repair in their hands? If uou know of a way I can get/purchase or conveniently take in for repair, please ket me know!

Great video again Jon, I haven't seen many with affordable EDC that we can put together in the UK. I just wanted to mention another relatively economical EDC pen, it would have been over budget if in your sekction and is also heavier than the Tombow. I use a Zebra F-xMD stainless steel body pen and put a Fisher Space Pen PR refill into it. Cult Pens have these if anyone wants to see what I am referring to (I am not affiliated). I saw just now that Cult Pens have 10% off the Tombow so currently £4.05 for the Tombow Airpress.

I would go for a Victorinox Climber in a budget EDC kit, I don't know how much it is in the UK but I doubt it's much more than £20. It's one of the cheaper offers in the Victorinox line and it just so happens that it's one of the best EDC knives out there.
I use the Compact now but I've carried the Climber for many years and it really is one of my favourites. I still use a really old and busted up Climber at work and it's fantastic.
I really can't recommend it enough.

Nice video, like always, Jon! I'm all into fountain pens, but I get it that for edc usage most people prefer a ballpoint pen, I also carry one in addition to my fountain pen.
