Yeah, it's not an upgrade camera in my opinion. I think Panasonic kind of dropped the ball by not understanding how much demand was there for a smaller MFT body with PDAF. By the time they manage to get something to market (if they ever do), that demand will have dwindled significantly.
@@stevelitton they seem to have overestimated how much they were going to sell of that old sensor. i wonder if they couldn't have come up with something more creative to get rid of the old parts. like a project with logitech on an advanced webcam. or a bgh2 at a decent price. the thing that hurts here is why would they give us an entry pdaf m43 camera with this thing sitting out there at $700-900? no one would ever buy. and they NEVER drop the price far of the g85/95s, i bet bc of the lens.

hi man, I know this comment is out of place on g97 video, but I wanted to know that does prores videos on Panasonic have more dynamic range compair to h.265 and also heard that MOV has more dynamic range than MP4. What are yours thoughts on this? Because I am confused between g9ii and s9, I color grade my footage very heavily in Resolve, I want a robust video codec which gives more dynamic range and won't break the quailty during color grading, have your h.264/2.265 10bit 422 video has loss quality when you pushed it too far in color grading? Please share your thoughts, because if I can get away with MOV H.264/H.265 codecs in s9 it would be the perfect camera for me, but missing of prores in s9 is leaning my decision toward g9ii. And I really enjoyed your video on Panasonic cameras. its really informative😊
Hey, it should have the same DR in either but ProRes would be more flexible in post as it is more compressed. The same goes for MOV and MP4, the MP4 options are the most compressed and some of them are 8-bit options. But the All-I option in the MOV settings is very good. The big difference you will find between those two cameras though is that the S9 being a full-frame camera has 14 stops of DR where whereas the G9m2 has a max of 13 stops. So its a trade-off between more stops of dynamic range but in a more compressed format. I would imagine the S9 footage would be a bit cleaner, I do find myself doing a bit of noise reduction from time to time with my GH6 footage. In all honesty, I don't shoot in ProRes much, mainly just due to how massive the files are and All-i and even LongGOP works for what I need most of the time. Hope thats helps. @@omkarbhoir6704 No problem. Certainly not night and day but you get more frames to work with and often you have an option for 422 over 420. If I am shooting V Log i do tend to lean towards All-Intra but I have shot plenty in LongGop and it's looked fine. I don't push grades super hard though. I would recommend using the Lumix Loan scheme if you can, then you can do some hands-on tests before committing to anything.
If they were closing why would they bother updating the G95 and releasing a new compact camera? Wouldn't they just take the existing stock and sell it off rather than releasing new stuff? They have released quite a few new full frame and MFT cameras over the last few years. I feel like they are probably more popular now than they have ever been.

This means less new users and lower marketshare. You cannot live only of the current users with G9 II and GH7. In 5 years there are no entry level users who wants to upgrade to the GH8 or G9 III. The G90 should have been upgraded with PDAF and better video spec to compete with Fuji, Canon and Nikon.

I kind of feel like the release of the S9 was the nail in the coffin for that but maybe I'm wrong there. They aren't really releasing any MFT lenses anymore, we have only seen 1 from Panasonic in the last few years (plus some minor lens updates). So you would assume their priority really is getting people into the full frame eco-system. Who knows, maybe something will come along in 2025 🤷♂️

I'm looking for an upgrade from the Sony RX100 VA. Panasonic ZS99 fails in every possible way, Panasonic is absolutely clueless about anything a content creator would want. It doesn't even have 10-bit video. What year is this, 2018? Total failure, and a disconnected, out of touch company

Vlog.. unlimited recording are a win. But still a crop in 4k is a bummer.
I haven't really seen anything about the additional 1.25x crop in 4K on this version I guess it still exists or they would have mentioned it.
