What really helps is William Shatner's enthusiasm for anything physical. He just seemed to love (sometimes literally) bouncing off the walls and rolling around. "Fight scene? Fantastic!!" It's one of the things that makes TOS so endearing.

Love this fight scene in Sickbay between Kirk, Scotty, McCoy and Uhura against bearded Spock. Spock was tossing everybody all over the place, whether thrown up against a wall (Uhura) or heaved over one of the diagnostic beds (Kirk), this fight scene is pure gold. Especially the part when Kirk charges forward and pins Spock against a wall, HEADBUTTS the Vulcan and slaps him, only to be knocked down by a hard blow from Spock. After the fight, McCoy says, "Help me get him on the table." Both Scotty's and Kirk's reaction to McCoy's urgent plea is priceless!🖖

The 1960s TV shows had some of the greatest TV fights. Bill Shatner is doing a lot of his own stunts here, as are the other characters in the close up scenes. Great energy in these performances and great fight choreography (Star Trek, the Green Hornet, and the Wild, Wild West with Robert Conrad were excellent shows for action fans, even today). Bruce Lee and Joe Lewis did some of the fight choreography in the 1960s TV shows in the US.

Great fights in the old Star Trek. You can see Bill Shatner and Leonard Nimoy doing many of the moves and stunts. The fight choreography in the 1960s shows (Wild Wild West, I Spy, Star Trek, Green Hornet) was influenced a lot by great martial artists such as Ed Parker and Bruce Lee. A big difference from the fight choreography of say the 1940a or 50s. And they were doing this on TV, with only say half a day to devote to the fight shooting. Just great work.

I always laugh uncontrollably whenever there's a fight scene from TOS. The best was the slow motion fight scene between Kirk and the gorn.

1960s TV resolution was 480i on maybe 19” analogue TVs. Today we have 1080p on 55” digital TVs.
Older TV shows sometime suffer from things you can now see with the higher resolutions & screens. But imho the essence of theater is the suspension of disbelief, the story/scripts & actor’s performances anyway.

The real actors are in the close-ups. And even some of the close-up falls. In a feature film, a fight like this might take two full days to stage, film, and correct. In network TV, they had about one long morning and early afternoon, and that's it. Not much time for stunt doubles, they had to reset and move to the next scene (Star Trek was usually filmed in order, or near-order). @@epiendless1128
