That price is crazy high! Mistercraft 1/72 kits usually sell in Poland for 12-20 PLN, which is roughly £2.50 - £4. In my opinion - great. But ...£ 13 !! 😲😲😲 Btw Great build!
Thanks! Yes, they used to be cheaper here in the UK but since the "bigger" chains like Hobbycraft have started stocking them, the prices seem to be higher
Wot, no spare decals in your stash? I've got heaps of spare US Cocardes from various kits that would have sufficed. I think your issue was caused partly by the heavy wash which has seeped under the varnish/decal. Also, best not to handle applied decals in the first place. One more thing - WASH the PARTS before assembly! It is almost certain that some mould release agent was still on the plastic. I have only in the last few years doing this as I have had issues with paint adhesion in the past. Interesting kit which I have had my eye on too, thanks for the run-down.
I've found that the spray primer doesn't really care about oil on the parts which is why sometimes i avoid washing my sprues these days. Other times I will wash them if i am not using the primer. I do have spare decals, just nothing suitable for this build. I did discuss the wash possibly reacting in the video
Excellent build Matt. A really imaginative build. Its a pity its a pogo as there only ever was one and its in the National Air and Space Museum. Thats not meant as a critism and I think you did an outstanding job in the circumstances. I really like the way you have done the base and your weathering is really very good.
Thanks! I did see some other builds of this kit online done in a way that I had originally intended, so i think it makes it a bit more unique to do something different
The Convair Pogo was a one-off prototype so no alternative schemes. It would be interesting to do a 'what if' scheme on this had it gone into service. Apparently it was a nightmare to land as the pilot had to look over his shoulder whilst gradually reducing power to, hopefully, gently land. On one flight the poor pilot was sweating bullets as his concentration was inside and outside the cockpit at the same time. Needless to say, probably would have been way too much for the average pilot to handle safely, shame . . .
My comment about there only being one paint scheme is in relation to the price. I bought the F86 Sabre from Mistercraft recently which was only £2 more but comes with 11 paint schemes and decals for these . . . Paying as much as I did in this video for a kit with only one scheme and the particularly low part count it has doesn't seem great value
@@ModelMinutes I would agree that they are overpriced - not the best quality out there and when you compare with what you get from Eduard for instance, a similar priced kit but way better detail, options and tooling, no comparison. Having said that, not everyone produces these niche subjects.
Nothing wrong with that its called adapting😅 I finally got hold of an s6b 1987 boxing looks almost new,a bit pricey though I have also received my bomber squadron, Hampden, Blenheim, Wellington and Vulcan that should keep me out of trouble.
Love this dude!! Great idea to keep the build going rather than just discarding it all together! The gate guard idea is a great idea!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is why you ALWAYS keep spare decals....you never know when you will need them......great result Mat btw.👍👍👍
Thanks!
@ModelMinutes most welcome
Great recovery! 'What if?' models RULE!
Thanks!
Bonjour à tous de Paris !!! jolie video avec une mise en scène intéressante très agréable bravo 😊😊😊
Thanks for watching! 😊
Good outcome! Can't say I am queuing up to buy a Mistercraft kit.
Thanks! They are certainly a challenge!
I love it. What a way to adapt and overcome a situation.
Thanks!
I love this build ❤️🙏😼
Adding the squirrel is so awesome 😂
Thanks! Found it in my box of model railways bits

Very well done! I'd love to make this weird machine but I'm hesitant because of the price. I might buy one if I see it for cheap somewhere.
Fair enough!

@@ModelMinutes I was listening, still think washing is the way to go, saves a lot of possible tears later!

Some aircraft I've seen outside for long periods of time also have cracking on the paint and markings 😊
Yes, that is another technique I need to look into
congrats supermarine spitfire for joining the club
nice
Thanks :)
Strangley the Mister kit Fouga Magister is a great kit.....yes the decals are crap but the kit itself is a reboxing of the Heler Fouga Magister kit.
A lot of the Heller reboxings are fairly nice tbh
@ModelMinutes agreed....have being bulding a few Heller kits lately and no issues with them
Why not use some other Usaf roundel from the same period...
couldn't find any in my spares box
Fun Fact, the original XFY-1 "Pogo" was until 1973 on static display at the entrace of the Naval Air Station Norfolk, Virginia.
That's really interesting! I didn't know that

Yeah that one oddball KoPro kit.
:)
Happy accidents are great.
Well done for sticking with it and making something good from this awful kit. I gave up on mine and shot it with my air rifle. Good and fair review.
Thanks! At least your kit still had a use
Models from polish mistercraft....one word HORROR!!!!
Some of them have been . . . acceptable
Definitely an odd one
Wrong info for the kit.....the same problem exists with their L-39 Albatros.....the "info" on that kits instructions are about a Spitfire variant
They really need to pay a bit more attention to their products, a proof-read would have caught that
@@ModelMinutes agreed....you would think they would have got the L'-39 info correct as the REAL aircraft is from their own country.🤣🤣🤣
Such a goofy looking aircraft.
it really is :)
Less than optimal instructions, oh dear...
lol, pretty funny being about another kit
Overall, don't waste your money on Mistercraft.
I build them so you dont have to :)
Great subject awful kit . Need revell or some kit makers to do one in 1.48
That would be fun!
