Its crazy to me how alot of people hate on this transmission, people just dont know... or have even driven a car with this trans, but thats fine lets keep it that way so that way the transmission remains cheap 😊
@@directcIanLol the ZF guys don't know that this trans is 1ms faster than the new 8HPs, even after they reprogram them I don't think it drops any farther from their 2ms time. I'm glad these AA80s aren't as popular lol.
Definitely interested on this for sure. Been looking into it for my Aristo. Thanks for doing this and look forward to more. I like how its more attainable and the transmission is also in production like you stated. Hope to see it come to fruition and will love to emulate your setup, granted in my Aristo.
I am currently undertaking this swap. Using the factory tcu to control it to the jz. 🎉 800whp effortless in Russia. Consider using need the trigger wheel off the flywheel as well
I absolutely loved my ISF, by far the best automatic I’ve ever driven or owned, best of luck putting this together, absolutely made the right choice here.
love the content. great alternative to the zf8 for those who are toyota pride. the 2jz would shine. maybe in the future there will be a 10 speed swap some where, to compete with todays technology in transmissions. importance is staying maxium horse power rpm.
If you can find a A340E line pressure sensor kit - the adapater will fit this - you can get them here in Australia so surely in north america. Same 5/16 thread.
There is only one type of ZF that fits in the MK4 and they’re not common in the US only in Europe. The other ZF models are way to big and don’t fit at all
There’s many reasons why So, the common question is “why this over the 8HP or DCT” 1. Availability of the transmission in the US. Any ISF, GSF, RCF & IS500 transmissions will work. You can buy this transmission new from your local LEXUS dealer and is still sold in the RCF to this day. The LS trans seems to be the same also but more testing is being done to make 100% sure it is. 2. Cost, much cheaper! You can buy these used for $500-$1200 shipped here in the US (the proper 8HP that fits the MK4 Supra is very rare in the US and costly from Europe) 3. For performance standpoints the trans is matted to a 5.0 V8 from the factory. Tuned cars are making 800whp and the transmissions are holding. 4. They’re VERY similar to the A340, and the goal is to have ATF or some transmission shop on board to build these. The best part of this is more gears and much larger input shaft. 5. Output shaft guibo is the same as the A340 3 bolt flange, so can you can buy an already made off the shelf billet piece or use the factory rubber guibo. 6. Wiring!!! This requires no secondary controller like the 8HP (this transmission is all Analog like the A340) and works directly with the factory Supra shifter. The trans even uses a very similar PRNDL to the A340. So no need for a secondary controller or a BMW shifter inside of your car. If you have a HALTECH, MAXX, MOTEC, LINK, etc. they’ll control this trans 100%
@@PureFunction It's a completely missed opportunity for a transmission that's pretty much an auto manual sequential and paddle shift box all in one! The 8HP trumps the AA in every way, except cost, and is seen holding over 1000hp without slippage. We all know you're not struggling for money, was wondering why go the half-assed approach? No matter which way you put it, it's like putting another A340E in it, why would you other than a financial reason?
Price and availability are 2 of the main factors. The diesel 8hp70 is a unicorn transmission especially if your trying to find them here in the states. I have a customer with a Sc300 who also wants to do an 8speed conversion.
@@PureFunction you have the best of one world…and a second Supra haha🤓. No seriously tho, the Supra has has been my dream car since I was in the 9th grade, and I’m way older than F&F so I actually love the car itself. The thought of driving one with those automatic shifts happening legit makes me sad, I wasn’t just being a comment section douche bag lol. Channel is pretty dope by the way, been seeing your stuff for a while👍🏾.
@@sonofspaceghost_9290 Modern 8 speed automatics are the way to go. Especially if you are building a car for 700+ hp at the wheels. I am not particularly keen on having to use one hand on the steering wheel at full throttle. I am debating whether to use the AA80E or 8HP70 when I eventually build the 2JZGTE in my IS200.
@@gavinr9107 Ok, I’ll give you the whole one have on the wheel thing….cant argue with logic lol. It’ll be manuals as long the clutch leg still works for me tho. Clicking paddles will never have anything on 3 pedals and a H-gate:-).

Great work Ryan, amazing to provide a next gen of Auto Transmission to the 2J community!

Keen to see how you get control of the box setup and if they add it to their 'controlled transmission' list

Thanks for the video, very informative, can't wait to see the tuning process.
I definitely want to use this in my 2001 Lexus GS300
A six speed manual in an ISF would be a blast, I know completely off topic.
What made you go with the AA80E instead of the Whifbitz ZF transmission kit? Does this work with Pro Efi Ecu?

Finally anther vid on this transmission
Can you send the link for th?e 1st video

It’s going to be a complicated tune on it. I know the ZF has been proven with the turbo lamik TCU and Haltech.
Always injoy your content!
Maxxecu pro premium works too
+1. ZF looks to be the best modern auto swap as of today
Most of the tune is worked out, and we will be working with ATF to then build these trans missions so should be a win win for everyone.
Very cool stuff. That CNC work is car porn. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the install!
Looking forward to the next video
hihi i also plan to swap my aristo jzs 147 to aa80e transmission, may i know which ECu/ Tcu will going to used ?
Maybe it’s just me but I’ll be highly more impressed if it was the other way around. Swapping the manual trans into the isf.
Great video I been waiting for this .dnt take so long for the next video lol
Updates pls!
Video should drop later today!
Updates?
Zf is proven, thats the route to go for my girlfriends supra. Plenty online for a good price. 3.266 lexus diff swap and youre good.
