Hey Brandon. Great choice and reaction. I recently discovered these guys on my channel and was blown away with the talent and musicianship. The lead vocals are stunningly haunting and this track was a very popular choice. Keep flying the flag and keep up the good work as you have a really good presentation style. Take care. All the best Dave✅✅
I couldn't help but smile as I watched you react to this monumental feat. Obviously one of my favorites... I can't wait to see your reaction to the next tracks Leap Of Faith followed by Came Down. Thank you very much for sharing. I have been practicing musical proselytism for ages, especially with this band and it is a real ecstasy when someone ends up succumbing to the charms of this group. Hugz !
Nice, I smiled a bit too! Ah so the next 2 are just as great, 0 surprise there! I am already a big fan! Can't wait to play Subterranea all the way through once I hear all the songs. Thanks again so much for turning me onto this band!! Hugz back my friend!
Hmmm, that's a thought...Haven't gotten into full album reactions really on TH-cam, so not sure. Maybe I can do 2 or 3 songs at a time from Subterranea. I will be doing Genesis' The Lamb full album though in a couple of months. Thanks
That's awesome! Right now mine is Sleepless Incidental, but this one is amazing and so is The Road of Bones and Ocean.....I think I'm going to have many favorites!
Great stuff Brandon. Think I saw these a couple of times in the early 80s at the Marquee Club in London, during the prog rock revival (probably supporting Marillion or Pallas back then). There were loads of prog bands to indulge on at the time...Marillion, Pallas, IQ, Twelfth Night, Pendragon etc and a great folky/rock band called Solstice 🤓 We would jump on the train to London every few weeks to see these bands. We were still at school, so not sure how we could even afford it though 😆
Although I’m familiar with IQ, this one is a first for me as well. I only have The Tales from the Lush Attic album and acquired it less than 5 months ago. But I definitely liked it enough to want to hear more from these guys. This “ Further Away “ song is a winner. And without a doubt, very Genesis influenced. They also remind me of Marillion, another Genesis like band that started out the same time IQ did in 1983. As always, Thanks for the review !
Hello. So glad it was new for you as well and that you liked it! Didn't think about the Marillion influence but of course I can hear it now. You're very welcome. Nice seeing you here today!
@stevecowder4774 Tales was their first album recorded in less than 3 days. If you like it then go for the next one : The Wake from 85 ! A giant step forward still in the same vein.
Oh, have you got my attention here : 'Ever' is one of my all-time favourite prog albums (along with “The Visitor” by Arena, as I mention to commenter TheRKae). A stunning, mesmerising piece of music it is, all the way to the finale (what a hypnotic riff🌙). Some music just seems to come from out of this world; this song is a perfect example. Great choice again, Brandon. You say you dated and fell in love with this track, eh? Well, I wish you and IQ a long lasting relationship: they're the best kind 😄
Wow, hyper-presence of Paul Cook's drum and, on two or three occasions, in offbeat rhythm! Thank you for bringing forward yet another progrock band (neo-prog in this case, to be more precise) unjustly neglected, even forgotten. I follow the career of this group since their beginning so much the creativity and the quality of their compositions impress me. On the other hand, their latest album, "Resistance" (2019), gives me the bitter impression of a breathlessness, of forced labor; maybe changing members too much... I own five IQ albums; my two favorites: "Subterranea" (1997) and "Dark Matter" (2004). Thanks. [NB: Hard not to hear an influence of GENESIS and RUSH. On the album "Ever" (1993), the composition "Darkest Hour" is a must, an anthology composition.]
Yes, it's a shame they weren't/aren't super huge with all that talent. Can't wait for more of the Subterranea journey! Adding your vote for DH, thanks my friend!
@@retroreactions.... Very good but unfortunately not into the retro reaction radar as these are from 2000. Obviously to be listened to on your own but please let us know your thoughts !
Hi Brandon I suggest you go back to their 1st album Tales from the lush attic and the 1st track the last human gateway 20mins of prog brilliance wow! What a way to start your 1st album
If you want to hear more of John Jowitt on bass, I've got a GREAT one from the '90s for you: the first 3 tracks on "The Visitor" by Arena. ("A Crack in the Ice," "Pins & Needles," "Double Vision.") They're connected together in a little 14 minute suite. They will blow you away! Stunning.
@@retroreactions.... Oh yes Arena is a great band with lots of things you will love for sure ! Go for this sugg ! I'd add Solomon and Crying For Help IV
Excellent suggestion, good bass work by J. Jowitt indeed, such an integral part of Arena. Now the question is, can a music lover like Brandon stop listening after 3 tracks only? Good luck, ha ha!
@@lilybee2955 Yup, that's my strategy! "The Visitor" is one of my all-time favorite albums. I always ask people to listen to the first 3 tracks KNOWING they'll be hooked!
Nice surprise today again buddy! This is a great track from IQ. They do have quite the discography… especially after 2000. Another great album of theirs is “Tales From The Lush Attic”….it has several long epic songs. I’m sure you’ll love anything from them!! Lol
Hehe...couple more surprises on Saturday. I knew you liked this one. I forgot I've heard The Road of Bones and Ocean 1 time each and completely loved them too! Lots of goodies to choose from with IQ I see 😀
Coasting through the highest highs to being frozen in a calm trance of beauty...what a range for 1 gem of a song!! Thanks for watching! 🥰
Thank you🤓

spectacular song..... IQ is one of my favorite progressive rock bands 😎💪..... Please, more about IQ
Oh they will be on my channel for years to come I'm sure!
Woah!! Wow!! A lot in this one production. The singer has such a unique voice. 💙🎼🎶🎶
The singer is Pete Nicholls, and I'm pretty sure he's the love child of Peter Gabriel and Jon Anderson.
Yes to all that! Thanks for the late evening watch!!
Your Welcome!!
At last!!! One of my favorite band of this genre. New Genesis with powerful guitar (the leader of the groupe) and awesome melodies and arrangements.
One of my new faves as well!!

I've seen them do this live a number of times. The keyboard solo is *really* sinister.

Good one, for the best of IQ (IMO) react to "Frequency", "Sacred Sound" and "Harvest of Souls" (a superb tribute to Genesis's "Supper's Ready").
I vote for "The Seventh House" and "Guiding Light!"
