    First-time Mazda and 2022 CX 5 owner, love the car and comfortable ride. Traded my 2018 Toyota CHR and do not regret doing it. Beautiful design and interior, handling is exceptional, and size is perfect for family.

    My wife and I bought the 2021 CX-5 CE Turbo w/ AWD. It's perfect for us. The cabin is quiet, and has the speed when I want it. And it doesn't have iStop (in the U.S.), cylinder deactivation (because I took the turbo), or a CVT, which was very significant in my decision to buy.

    • @Kvickification
      @Kvickification 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      iStop is super simple to bybass tho, ive done that to our 2017 Diesel CX-5. There is a microswitch under the hood you can disable to make it not engage without fault codes or check engine light.

    For everyone asking about mileage. I have a 2022 CX5 Select trim. So no turbo engine. My mpg averages around 28-30. I live in a more rural area though. On average the car is rated for 27mpg which I think is just enough. Not the best mpg but it’s around the average.

    • @SokemRokemRobot
      @SokemRokemRobot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's more than enough for me. Since I'm retired, I don't drive as much as I used to, so I don't spend as much money on fuel, anyways. I'd bet, I spend less money on my CX-5's fuel than a person does that drives their Rav4 Hybrid to work everyday. I drove only about 1200 miles in 2021, and the fuel cost me about $200. So far in 2022 (First 5 months), I've driven about 800 miles.

    Great review; it really nails why the CX-5 is an excellent vehicle despite not being a class leader in terms of performance, MPG, or interior space. I recently traded in a '17 Ford Fiesta ST for a '23 CX-5 Carbon Edition because I needed a bigger, more practical all-arounder. Obviously, the CX-5 is a huge upgrade in quality, materials, ride, comfort, etc. I knew Mazdas were good to drive, but I wasn't prepared for how little I'd miss driving the Fiesta ST, an insanely fun car that I used to think I couldn't bear to give up. The CX-5 is a genuine pleasure to drive all the time, and while it doesn't have the quick turn in or grip of the ST, I like the Mazda's steering feel better. Sure, the Mazda is underpowered in comparison (I didn't think the turbo CX-5 was worth the extra money), but about 90% of the time, I enjoy the Mazda more than I did the Fiesta ST. It's a great car. I hope Mazda stays committed to providing top-notch styling, interiors, and a great driving experience in its affordable, mainstream vehicles.

      I don't think the turbo is worth it for me either. But at around $30,000 with AWD and what I consider great MPG (04 Ford 5.4 4x4 owner 😂) this cool little ride is perfect to head to the ski resort in.
      I hope they make this exact car for a while.

    I own a CX-30 turbo--last mazda was in the 90s in college.The quality level of mazda now is fantastic--interior quality is on par with Audis--bose stereo is one of the best at any price.This SUV with the turbo engine is simply up a level over SUV/CUV that are under low 40k.Mazdas give a much more spirited drive then other small suvs unless you plan on spending 50k or more--say to get a Lexus--Ford edge--RDX.Also they are very reliable now--the 6 speed is also bulletproof and it does not "hunt" gears like many trannies with more gears.The AWD is also among the best--the one in my CX-30 is just as good as a base model A6 Audi and those are almost 30k more.BTW--look at the wheelwell on these--you have a ton of room to turn this into either a real sport SUV--or an offroader depending on where you live.Also if you use premium gas with the turbo to avoid carbon deposits and get oil changes evry 3 to 5k--they are cheap--under 60 dollars for a synthetic mix near me and under 80 for a full synthetic--these cars will be troublefree for 150k miles.BTW my CX-30 turbo is posting equal to faster times then a ford Edge ST and tying an Acura RDX A spec AWD.--which is what this CX-5 should be--someone who wants to save 10k to 15k but have something similiar to an Acura A-spec or edge St.

    Just purchased a 2022 CX 5 Signature. My wife has the 2021 CX5 Grand Touring, non-turbo. You are spot on the differences...the 2022 ride is better. One thing I noticed on both vehicles: The OEM Toyo tires are horrible. I changed both cars to Vredestein Quatrac Pro tires and the handling is significantly better, especially on wet roads. The 2022 with the Vredestein tires and turbo is really run to drive. Throw some supreme gas in it, put it in sport mode and it is the most fun SUV you can drive. Cheers! (Great video BTW!)

    We are on our second Mazda now moved to a CX5 from a 3 Hatch. We were amazed at the driving ability of the 3 and the fuel economy of the 3 and wish that the economy had passed on to the CX5. Original brake rotors and pads on the CX5 did not last past 40K and that is a disappointment. The cost of new ones from Mazda was horrendous so aftermarket was the choice. To our surprise aftermarket was much more robust. Do not follow the dealer suggested oil change interval and stick with the recommendations in the huge manual in the glove box. This will save you a ton of money over the long run and not void the warranty. Will now consider buying into the CX50 and would love to have the CX90 but time will tell. Have not seen a review on the 90 as yet.

I looked up and found a bulletin for my car to be repaired. I took it in and they agreed that my car fell under that bulletin according to the VIN but, that I had to wait for the engine light to come on. By my calculation that won't happen until one oil change after my warranty is up. I only have 15,000 miles on it. Worse yet is that the TH-cam posts from Mazda or it's dealerships take out negative reviews. Sleezy. Don't take a chance and buy Mazda’s. They don't stand by their products.

I found out on the Mazda website that the CX-5 has a cylinder deactivation feature, except for turbo models. It's possible that Mazda has found a way to make this work, but every vehicle that has employed this in the past has not had a good record for long term reliability/dependability I feel that the CX-5 is a very good value for the money, but as I plan on keeping my next vehicle for around 10 years I don't think I will choose the CX-5. The easiest way to solve this is to allow the rear seats to slide backward when necessary. I had this feature on a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander, and it made a huge difference to passengers (and me). Why is this so difficult to implement?

    What's going to be the downfall of Mazda is them removing entry level turbo editions. Before 2022 you could have gotten a Carbon Edition with a Turbo Charge engine for 32K. I don't really care for all the features in a car, all I care about is having android auto because my phone basically has everything (navigation, music), etc, what I want in a car is having a car being fun to drive with decent amount of power, and this is what Mazda did in 2021 when they released an entry level turbo version of the CX-5 where you where able to get the turbo engine for 32k. It didn't come with all the bells and whistles like the turbo premium and turbo premium plus, but I didn't really care of all that stuff.
    Now in 2022 the only way to get a turbo charged engine is in the higher trim, meaning you need to spend nearly $38-40k to get the turbo charged engine on the CX-5, and it's even worse in the CX-50. If I am now going to spend 38-40K to get a more powerful engine, then I might as well spend 38k on a volvo XC-40 which is a much better car and in the exact same price point as the CX-5 turbo trims. The Volvo T5 AWD Momentum is 36K MSRP, comes with a Turbo Charged engine that makes 248 HP/258 TQ, and is nearly $2-4k cheaper then the CX-5, has higher towing capacity then the CX-5, etc.
    This is the down fall of the Mazda and they need to realize that the reason why it become a huge seller especially the carbon turbo edition is because you can get a semi performance SUV for under 35k. 250 HP/320 Tq for under 35k, which is a huge seller.
    Once again removing the entry level turbo model starting at 35K will be the down fall of Mazda SUV's like the CX-5 and the CX-50.

You should do better research on the engine fires on the Kia and Hyundai earlier this year. 485,000 cars have been recalled, and the owners are being told to park those cars outdoors. They can even catch fire with the cars turned off. I bought a 2021 Mazda CX-5 Carbon Edition Turbo w/ AWD (Made in Japan), and it's been a great ride for me, with no problems. If you do more research, you'd know that Consumer Reports said, for the last couple of years, Mazda is the #1 car brand, and that Mazda is the most reliable car on the road... ahead of Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Kia, and Hyundai. It doesn't matter if the Mazdas were built in Mexico.

      Yes, I personally think the CX 5 is a much better looking vehicle, the CX 50 not so much.

      The thing I’m the most afraid about is Mazda moving away from cars , the 6 is gone and my industry sources are saying the 3 maybe cut due to poor sales! Have a 20 Mazda 3 and absolutely love it!

    CX-50 doesn't have better rear multi link transmission like CX5.

    2021 ~2022 same interior. Engine and trans tweak same with 2021~2022(has mud setting version). Suspension same with 2021~2022. Face lift outside, but the older generation looks way better with the kudo design. New generation price they added 5k. Rather save that 5K for the cost of ownership over 5 years. 😉😁

      All you need to look at are the headlights and taillights to determine that it’s a 2022🤦‍♂️

      2022 is also the first year that Polymetal Grey Metallic was offered, and exclusive for the Carbon Edition

      Wait what are you talking about! The 2022 models all have TFT odometer display. And the wheel arches on that GT SP displayed in your video are painted. It also has a unique red mark design on the front grill… want more?

      Oh hang on. American models are probably different than Aussies’, and a bit outdated as I’m seeing! 😏

      @@NDHgh Looked at Mazda Australia, this model is a Carbon Edition, which isn't offered in AU. What you're describing is our Turbo trim, and we do receive the red accents on the grille and higher quality digital gauge cluster. I did notice that there's some minor differences between your CX-5 and ours
