It seems Hanse has built its first power boat called a RYCK 280. Nice walk around cuddly with a single engine, wave piercing bow, and a king size bed.

Hey Tony. Thanks for watching! Very interesting! I’ll check it out. Is it sail or motor for you? D

@@navalgazingatcampdavid I want it to be sail but I might have to settle for motor. I have my own “Sylvia” to convince. But I am going back to BVI in July with Navigare on a 50’ (sail) Lagoon.

You said it yourself, Dave 😅...heresy! If you can get Sylvia on a monohull, I'll eat my hat 😅

lol! You are right Richard. I had a small breakthrough last night with her. I decided to force her (guilt her lol) into looking at boats last night. Moody 64- hated the interior. Too brown and old fashioned. Amel 50. Too brown and too white at the same time (I started getting frustrated at this point). Jeanneau 60 - White oak; too light, teak; too orange. Then the question, “do these ones tilt”. At this point I take a sedative and soldier on. Balance 442 zebra wood - kind of ok. Bamboo - ick. Walnut ( New Vicious Fishes) too dark looks old fashioned. By this point not even the sedatives are helping. I try one last boat…Leopard 45. BINGO! She loves it! Writes the name down so she won’t forget it! Says this morning she is obsessing over it. We might just be making some progress here at Camp David!!

Where is that Leopard 45 sit in The Dave Score?!
I recall a now discontinued YT channel with the L45 and a newbie family from CA. Not the happy together or Aussie doctors. They had two young boys along as well.
Anyway…glad to see you are making progress. Or is it Pro-gress!?

She did not do too bad overall...😂 It's really hard to justify spending so much money for a new production boat when you can get a used cat or Bluewater mono for the same money. Unless it's for charter. Having said that, many of the used comparables state that (VAT) tax is not paid but for the new ones you do include it in that 50% so it's a bit unfair, lol

Hey Constantine. A new boat is hard to justify for mere mortals at any point lol. But if I went used I’d go waaayy back to the Moody 64. Unbelievable value, quality and luxury for less than $450k. What about you?

Hey Dave, idk my friend, lately I'm feeling very philosophical. I still have a lot of years left until the kids are independent and i can afford retirement so I don't see myself circumnavigating anything for at least 15 years (I'm 50). So what would be an ideal sailboat for me? While I love big boats, I'm intrigued by the idea of having something small enough that even if my gf or any one of my kids or my yacht club's members are not available, I can hop on it and go out by myself. I saw a 2015 Rustler 37 for sail in Seattle for under 400K. Or if I wanted something roomier I would go for good production boat like a 2016 Elan 45 i found for under $300K or a Dufour 430.

Nice but the owner's cabin- no, it would have to be the Amel 50.
