  • A used PCM from Ares Technologies fixed the issue. They had the best price and warranty. They are in California.
    They shipped the PCM to Acapulco, Mexico and it was received in 5 days

    Here's the story with the Jeep if you care to read
    👇🏽
    I bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 4.7l in Mexico for my vacation family wagon. The Jeep had 53k and was in amazing condition.
    One thing I noticed when I was inspecting the Jeep was that the dash warning lights came on when I had the ignition on. I cycled the key and the fault went away.
    Here are the warnings that appeared ⚠️
    Check gauges
    Check engine
    Transmission Over Temperature
    ABS
    Everything was good when the car started and drove perfectly.
    I was not to concerned because I thought maybe a bad battery so I bought the Jeep
    The battery did die on me so I replaced it fault was still pressent
    I didn't have any tools to diagnose the car in Acapulco properly so I took it to a mechanic. They replaced the ABS module and butchered the Jeep so picked up the car with more issues. I fixed everything but the failure was still there.
    Here's what I did as routine maintenance since I bought it
    Oil Change
    Transmission oil change
    Spark Plugs
    Throttle Body cleaning
    Air Filter

    My car, a 2006 Grand Cherokee, faced the same problem. I changed the transmission oil to no avail. The same problem remained when the car was running the transmission in position 3. The speedometer screen gave rise to heat in the transmission. I changed the car’s PCM computer. So far, no problem has occurred in my Grand Cherokee. 2006 in the transmission and there is no increase in the temperature of the transmission

    I had the same issues with my 2006 Jeep Commander 5.7 Litre Hemi. Plus, my car would randomly shut off after cold starts. I replaced my module with a refurbished one from ebay. And its been running smooth ever since.

      You can open the module carefully and inspect it for damage. These Jeeps are known for ignition switch issues.

    Hey, the dielectric grease is not for helping with electric current. I used to think the same thing but it does the opposite. It's great for putting on spark plug rubber though, not the metal parts. Great video!

    • @christianlopezyourhelpfuld7079
      @christianlopezyourhelpfuld7079  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Back in the day when I was a Jaguar Master Tech the engineers recommended putting dielectric greace on the connectors to prevent corrosion, which leads to high resistance in the circuit. I followed that added measure since I was living in Acapulco. There's a high chance of corrosion build up from the ocean.

      @@christianlopezyourhelpfuld7079 I use it on the plastic connectors for easy removal. It's a non conductive grease. Basically like a silicone grease.

    My daughter's 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L has had the same error code for quite some time. It only happens when it sits idling for an extended period, or on really hot summer days at stop lights. It switches into a sluggish mode when the "transmission over temp" light comes on and if you pull over and switch it off and back on, the light goes off and it drives normally. Several shops I took it to could never get the code to trigger or figure out what was causing it. Very frustrating! I'll look into replacing the PCM, thanks for the video Christian!

    • @russorgain3813
      @russorgain3813 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@trinity21MA Unfortunately no I haven’t replaced it yet. They run about $500 to $600 bucks and I’m about to sell it because it’s an extra vehicle right now that I don’t need. It looks easy enough to replace myself but I don’t think it would be worth it on resale unless I’m keeping the Jeep. If I was going to keep it I’d be ordering it today because that issue is really annoying in the summertime. I’m too honest and will tell a prospective buyer about it and take something off the price for it if they want to fix it later. If not I’ll sell it to someone else that wants to deal with it. I really like the 5.7L motor, it’s got great power for that size SUV and I’ve never had any problems out of it except for that annoying PCN error. Best of luck, I hope you get it fixed!

    Your module does not have the big aluminium heat exchanger on the back... That would explain the overheating... Look for more photos on internet.

    I was getting that error message about the trans over temp when I replaced the ABS module. It wasn't communicating or it was doing it wrong. I think it was because I bent 2 pins inside the new mod. I got another new mod and it cleared up the code. Check for good connections before replacing the PCM next time. Now on to the limp mode that comes and goes and or seems to stay on.

    Sera ECM defectuoso u algun corto eléctrico???

    Estimado. Adquirí una grand cherokee laredo 2005 3.7 gasolina, con check engine encendido, luz break, abs y parking encendida, luz de presión de neumáticos y además testigo antideslizante. Velocímetro no marca, cuenta kilometros tampoco y aquí viene lo grave, caja tip tronic no muestra ningun número en pantalla, como si estuviera desconectada, en direct es como si estuviera en una marcha y acelera sin parar, como si estuviera en limp mode o desprogramado. Hice scanner y sólo arroja como si fuera problema de transmisión, qué el abs esta defectuoso. Será módulo PCM?. Puedo conectar otra PCM y probar o requiero programar?. Muchas gracias!

      Si puede ser. la transmisión sobre la temperatura se encendía y luego se apagaba cuando apagaba el Jeep. El fluido no olía a quemado por lo que era una indicación de que mi transmisión estaba bien y yo tenía un problema eléctrico. Si su fluido de transmisión es bueno y la luz se enciende pero cambia bien. Compruebe el módulo PCM.

    Hi! I replaced the PCM in my 06 jeep because it was turning off randomly. It no longer turns off but now I’m getting the same messages you had in the beginning of the video. Transmission over temp, abs, and so on. I’m getting a failure to communicate with tcm code. Do you suspect the tcm is bad or it’s not able to communicate with the new pcm? I also had the engine replaced a few years ago. The same mechanic is telling me to go the dealership and have the car reprogrammed but I don’t think that’s the issue…. Any thoughts? I’m feeling defeated lol

    • @christianlopezyourhelpfuld7079
      @christianlopezyourhelpfuld7079  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the new PCM could be faulty. If it has warranty I would request a new one. If not, check out where I bought mine. It's in the description. If you do get it warranty, take down the serial number so you don't get the same unit back

      @karadanvers6136 Yes, the PCM. It should always have a cover since it's an electrical component. It should also have some type of warranty. I personally replaced several parts chasing this issue, but if the dealer replaced several parts for you in trying to find the issue, that is not your fault. You should only pay for the part that actually fixed the issue.
