100% electric zero turn?! Pretty dope!
Electric zero turn mowers are shitty electric motors will never be good enough gas mowers were always be better than shity ass electric
You are sitting on a ticking firebomb just like these EV’s. Ontop of being completely economically unfeasible for the average consumer to purchase and to build without taxpayer subsidies the consumer market does not want them, and when you have a government subsidizing them and forcing them onto the public the rejection is even stronger. Take a look at what is happening in FL with the hurricanes flooding the region with saltwater, all Fire departments are warning the public not to use their EV’s, no matter if it’s a vehicle, bike, scooter or golf cart, they will explode if exposed to saltwater and the public is being warned not to store them in a garage or any structure, once saltwater hits the batteries they will immediately catch fire instantly and the Fire Department needs special foam to extinguish battery fires, they are also warning should the EV catch fire to stay away from the fumes, they are toxic to your lungs and will burn and permanently damage the interior walls of your lungs to the point you will have breathing difficulties for the rest of your life.
The only reason these products have been approved for use is because the CC movement is a political movement it has nothing to do with the Environment, the EV and the entire Green Energy push is not only more dangerous and destructive to the environment it is also all about government control of every aspect of the individuals life and livelihood. The Energy Sector specifically Fossil Fuels is the lifeblood of a countries economy, 1.2 billion products require oil to manufacture are used daily by billions of people worldwide, without fossil fuels there is no western advanced civilization and if government takes 100% control of the Energy Sector Government therefore will control 100% of the Individuals Wealth, Labor, Private Property Rights and more importantly 100% of the Individuals Liberty and Freedom. Folks should really do their research on the CC movement, it began in Europe in 1962 and it’s entire goal is to force a Totalitarian government onto the people.

Been mowing for Over 30+ years I'm old school prefer the original commercial 💯
Happy Mowing everyone...
I picked up one of these about 5 months ago when my lawn tractor died. I've been replacing my lawn tools over the last 6 years with EGO equipment, so it was a no brainer. Wish I had done it sooner. Now I'm working on a modest solar charging system so my lawn work is completely zero carbon. Love my EGO stuff.
As a homeowner I love mine. I needed to switch to a rider after using a Toro Timemaster for years due to my health. So much quieter, no nasty fumes from fuel or exhaust, no more buying gas. Yes it is expensive but so are gas ZTs and I would have bought a level up model of whatever I would have biught. And it really is like a go kart too. My kids alwasy want rides. We have cruises the entire neighborhood many times. My only real complaint is how noisy it is when it gets bouncy on my uneven lawn but I dont know if a gas model would be too. I mulch with mine and the batteries go down much faster when you use the higher blade speeds but my yard is small enough that it doesn't cause a problem. If i discharge on speed 2 i end with 65% battery, mulch on speed 4 and i end with 45%-50%. I wish the accessories weren't so expensive as I would really like the cargo box but can't make myself spend that much. This weekend I am going to try pulling an aerator with it.
As a homeowner, I'm all-in with EGO. Got the original Z6 when it came out. Been adding to the inventory ever since. String trimmer, chainsaw, pole saw, power inverter... and I'll be in line for the pressure washer when it's ready to ship. Great products and awesome company to work with. No regrets.
Nice
Yea I seen a ego pressure washer the other day at ace
Awsome video Brian! I can’t believe the turning radius without tearing up the turf🤯
That side chute would drive me crazy.
Had to close down my business for medical reasons and started replacing my equipment with battery powered stuff, all Ego. I have no regrets about the Ego and am glad to see them starting to release commercial grade blowers and look forward to seing that expand to mowers. It's really, really, nice from a maintenance standpoint too.
For the homeowner EGO is fantastic!
I've got a fairly basic Ryobi electric push mower and as a home owner i love it. No gasoline storage or transportation is great, no oil changes is great, run costs are virtually nothing, the neighbors appreciate no noise. I'd say as a contractor as long as you can charge it in transit you're probably set. If not that's trouble. There's definitely ways to do it though.
I’m a homeowner and I plan on getting one next year.
For your typical weekend warrior subdivision types this world be perfectly fine. No gas, oil changes, plug changes, belt replacement, none of that. It's clearly not robust like commercial grade stuff but it's not supposed to be. That's not the market they're after. Something like this would be perfect for my corner subdivision lot. I love their weed eater and I would consider this when I'm in the market.
Actually used the Ego Full Zero Turn to cut a few lawns when mower blew up. I was actually surprised with how well it cut and how gentle it was on lawns. Ride was a bit rough but never really bogged down either, only thing that was kinda bad was the battery life. But overall surprised with the results, little on the pricey side for the residential user though! Had 36" Grandstand for about 2wks now and love!
We love our set up!
I'm just a homeowner. Have had an EGO battery pushmower for 6 years now & very happy. I also have an EGO trimmer & pole saw. Been considering an electric riding mower, but not just for mowing. I'd likely use daily year round, as want to use to help me pull a cart to clean horse stalls & do yard work with being quiet / easy to use. I really like that electric is quiet & easy on / off & no belts or oil changes etc.
No belts. Now that I like
As a lawn service, I've always carried extra fuel in my trailer. I used to measure that fuel by the gallon, now I measure it by the kilowatt hour.
I think that is the biggest hurdle to switching to electric. Discovering how to carry extra fuel in your trailer.
If you had told me I would be using electric 5 years ago, I would have laughed and made jokes. Now I find it annoying to buy liquid fuel.
I would get an extra set of batteries and have them charging while not in use.
"Give it some gas" 😂
😂😅
Seems like it wasn't even 1 minute into the video before he said that. 😅
You get more battery power if you turn the blade speed down. We had one for a few months and traded it up for a 48” stand on gas. This mower is expensive and only comes with 4 batteries for the 2.5 acres. If you add two more batteries bringing the total cost of the mower to 7k you can cut over 3 acres.
The mower last longer with the blade speed down and still cuts great.
What you said around 7:40 I totally agree. Residential wise battery is ready. Commercial wise not there. You could possibly get away with an edger, blower, and weed eater. But mowers unless you buy the toro grand stand battery it’s not there yet.
I would say commercial wise the tech is ready, but most manufacturers aren't ready to make the leap to the kind of battery tech that's in EVs. The Greenworks Optimus Z, which HAS taken that leap, is the fastest and most powerful zero turn mower I've ever seen and has over 10 acres cutting time per charge (one model is rated 21 acres). But it's also over $20,000.
I use a dewalt battery trimmer and love it.... mower is too expensive as of now
I'd like to have one but honestly I'm still happy with gas mowers, for on demand power and longevity. There's no way you can beat gas for overgrown and uneven land. It's probably ok for your typical homeowner with his 1/4- 1/2 acre of grass.
Hey A small residential owners yard yes
Wouldn’t do it with a business with any battery machines. I wait for the Dilithium Crystal
As someone who recently started a lawn care Business with all electric equipment, I can definitely say that unless you want to shell out 1000's of dollars for batteries, the technology just isn't yet there to be something sustainable and efficient. I frequently have to cut my schedule short to take a charge break after 3 or 4 lawns. The Ego definitely seems like an awesome machine and a step in the right direction as far as making a full electric fleet a reality.
Would be interesting if people would pay an extra 10+ dollars for a person with battery a month. Possibly if they work from home or have young kid. If money grew on trees I would want to start a company with battery stuff. It would probably be a bit more challenging here in FL considering it rains out of the blue at times.
Good luck with your business.
I had the same issue after just a few lawns, and since I live far away from where I mow, I didn’t like having to drive home to charge. After building up some clients I took the plunge and built a solar powered charging rig into my trailer. Now I can double or possibly even triple the clients I mow each day and it cost less than a full new set of ego batteries. Still expensive and not for everyone, I’m continuing to try and improve and learn. We’re still really early days for electric lawn care, but it’ll get there! Thanks for being an early adopter and trying to make it work.
I’ve posted a little about my setup, but I’ll be posting the full build of my system at some point soon, so maybe it’ll give you some ideas!
I don’t think EGO intentions were to push this mower out for business use, but for homeowners who can afford this. It wouldn’t make sense for a landscaper to buy this for business use unless he/she had a way to power batteries while traveling.
Mean Green equipment. Might have to continue refining the electric set up: Solar on a trailer roof, into an on-board battery storage bank- charge between mows.
Why aren't you carrying extra fuel in your trailer? With gas equipment you would carry extra gas in a separate can. For your ego equipment get yourself one of those power stations with a large storage capacity (maybe 2 or 3 kwh) and charge the batteries you're not using while you're working?
Here in California gasoline is over 5 bucks and the kilowatt hour is almost 50 cents. I calculated that I would need to use a battery 800 times to break even. I've got some batteries that are getting close to 2000 cycles. They are not new anymore, but they have definitely paid for themselves. 😎
As a home owner mowing 8 acres with a zd28 but if I ran a commercial co think electric would be great on a apartment complex don’t want to wake up any old farts at noon 😅😅😅
I cut my teeth on gas, v-8's and carburetors. I am sure that the day will come when battery power is the norm, but I am not ready for it. I like the steering wheel on that mower. Great vid.
Saw a service in Metairie, LA that offers a full electric mowing service. It was a cool idea for those customers who would want a “climate friendly” cut. 🤷🏻♂️ But as a business it would t hurt to have that option of you get asked that often.
Thought I was watching Kyle Busch giving track conditions.
LOL he could pass for his twin lol
Mean Green Mowers.
Hey man so when will be moving in to your new house and when will you’re new shop be done
Few weeks for the shop and still 6+ months on the home buddy!
So you could buy 3 of those for the price of one Toro Revolution. I'd rock it for just my house!! Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!
Lol last just as long too!
I love this mower concept, but like the dual handle control model better, however as a homeowner the cost is way too high. Hoping they will come down in price eventually as the battery tech improves and gets cheaper to own. That of course is a wish!
The price is insane for these, they are the price of an entry level commercial mower or a higher end residential.
this really opened my mind. what if I be different an start a fully electric lawncare company. right there gives you your niche of people , your target an customer base. seems like everyone is going electric theses days an "be greener". hmm.
Oh if ego wants to send you free stuff that you don't have time for, feel free to just send it my way 🤣, I'll drive right over and pick it up😂😂
😂😂😅
It would be nice for a 36 inch that would get through small gates and if it were able to do steep slopes. Fill in the gaps that are expensive to fill with a professional equipment version.
Steep slopes is what surrounds my pond. For that price, I'd need a power sickle (scythe) attachment included like the old cadet tractors :)
Hi, can you advise what you think is the best battery operated hedge trimmer?
That’s a question I’m not sure about!!
For battery and home use I like ego
When it gets released if possible review the ego t6 yard tractor
I’ll see what I can do! Is that new for 2024?
@@BriansLawnMaintenance it has been announced but without no date of release yet
Battery is ok for most yards. Less maintenance is nice. They are expensive when compared to gas.
Saw one of these in Lowe's the other day. Totally freaked over the idea of an electric zero turn? I thought it was cool, but will it mow?
It mows! Not commercial grade gas equivalent, but it’s working and keeping me busy so far!
Are you doing any giveaway for that ego? I would love to have one, but it's too expensive for me.
We got rid of it a year ago
Needs a suspension seat. Hate to see the bill on the batteries when they go bad!!!
Yeah, it looks pretty bouncy. Likely shake the beer out of my hand. I need comfort.
@williamriker4889 it actually has a nicer suspension seat than most others . Should go check it out in person.
If power wheels made a lawnmower
😂
Man I wish!! I had a power wheels at like 7 lol, this would’ve been next level 😂🎉
To see you Mowing at 7 years old with this thing would’ve been hilarious to see😂
Everyone is thinking it!
i never seen an 18k lawnmower i just have an trusty Honda HRX217 im all gas...
Purchased a Toro Timecutter 50 inch deck this past summer for mowing the 1 mile long 12 foot wide frontage of the housing development that I live in.
Gas is the only way to go.
Love the Timecutter with a 23.5 horsepower Kawasaki.
Battery life is the question. At $500.00 a battery is over $3,000.00 to replace them. At $4.00 /gallon that is 750 gallons or around 750 hours for my use that is 3.5 to 4 years. Of course there is no oil or filters, plugs or starters on the battery powered mower so that is a bonus.
I purchased a Husqvarna battery trimmer and pole saw that use the same battery, it died after 2.5 years-limited use maybe 50 hours. Batteries were around $50.00 3 years ago, now they are upwards of $180.00, YIKES!. Can buy lots of fuel and oil for $180.00.
First two minutes watching it hurt my back lol. Electric in my opinion is for the rich guy that has nothing better to do then waste money. Not trying to be negative but gas powered mowers will always win. JS, Thanks for the content Brian I hope all is well and god bless you and the family.
I have a reasonable 1/4 acre yard and happy with my Honda RWD push mower. 😢 that they are discontinued and would buy it again. I am not for the Battery mowers and only enjoy the hand held equipment.
As a lawn service I have bought 13 of those mowers, I was very happy with them. It was the Milwaukee electric mower that convinced me to take the last gas mower out of the trailer.
Battery has its place but right now it's just not there with commercial. For residential - definitely yes. There are the advantages as you point out. No more gas, elimination of the need for gas cans in the garage, no maintenance on an air cooled engine, no ethanol issues, no carb issues, no rebuilding carbs, and such. Outside of sharpening blades on an batttery powered mower, there's virtually no maintenance. All these are major selling points and even the commercial guys can benefit from the practically zero maintenance factor. Time is money as they say. But for the bigger riding equipment on the commercial side, battery isn't there yet. I still prefer gas.
points the manufacturers will not discuss is:
1. Replacement of batteries will be the 1/2 the price of the original purchase price of the machine.
2. Batteries do not have near the life cycle as your typical combustion engine machine does and combustion engines can be rebuilt, battery disposal cost also
needs to be considered.
3. Electric motors need to be rebuilt yearly via rewinding the copper windings and replacing motor bearings, the copper wears out and can not conduct electricity efficiently enough to power the machine.
4. Battery Charging time length and cost of electricity to charge numerous batteries per machine is far more expensive than using fossil fuels, plus zero down time of machine usage using fossil as opposed to time involved charging batteries.
5. Lack of qualified technicians for service and repairs.
Summary analysis, purchasing price, operational costs and lifecycle of electric machinery is not only financially unfeasible but also productivity is unfeasible.
The Toro Revolution Stand on commercial zero turn mower......$32,000 !? That's crazy. I'll stick with gas .
Right? That’s the price of luxury trims on most sedan models. For a Lawn Mower? Are these manufacturers out of there mind? That’s criminal.
If they can run by themselves with sensor without a 170+ lb human riding it, the batteries would last longer and makes more selling points?
Honey I Shrunk the Kids had a remote control Snapper. 🤔
Aren’t these things like 10 gs ??
Not to crazy about this mower. Sounds like it was gonna fall apart doing one pass. I agree it might be good on a small property. Thanks for sharing though.🤨
I looked at this and sat on the seat at a local retailer. Love the technology, innovation, and environmental impact these are making. BUT…I just can’t get over how plastic this machine is. I have a Toro Timekeeper, and I’d truly “consider” something like this…but regardless of EGO being the market leader, it is really a plastic feeling machine. Hard to justify that much money for this.
Yes I agree. More metal and a fabricated deck would be sick!
It looks like a toy it’s even worse in person
There aint no way you could use that for commercial exspecially if you gotta get up on a curb or back down.
When will contractors take their Ford Lightin to mow with a large electric zero turn, i will probably be dead by then. And the price per yard will be unaffordable. I’m just thinking……..
each battery is 500.00$$ to replace them
Someone said if powerwheels made a mower. And it looks like it’s about that quality too. Without seeing it in person, it doesn’t look durable
Brian, if you don't want it. I'll take it and pick it up. Im from kzoo.
Come On Brain!! 😂😂😅😅😂😂😢😢
8K$ ))
Why is he wearing hearing protection? Lol its not noisy at😊 all
Give it some gas while on an electric mower😂
In four years or less you will need new batteries at nearing $500.00 each. I'll stay with a gas mower until the battery technology is at its best. Changing the subject here, sthil just released a $ 2200.00 new back pack leaf blower that's well built. Weight is over 38lbs and is comparable with the BR- 430 which is not so powerful. Looks like no one is interested in the new electric one for what I have seen on their website.
Battery power is fine for maybe just mowing. What about when you add a bagger and moree weight onto that thing? No chance you're getting good battery life using that thing during a fall cleanup even just as a residential unit. Sorry that thing looks like a toy you get in the bottom of a cereal box.
That thing looks flimsy going down the lawn. Haha
Switch to all electric fleet! Government rebates! Democats love that shit if you’re in the city! Be the first in your area
That's $3000 worth of batteries to replace every 5ish years. Don't know about anyone else but $600/year buys a lot of gas/oil/maintenance. Don't take me wrong, I love my EGO tools until I have to buy replacement batteries. In the future when batteries are a lot better, I'll look at one of these again.
It is quiet which has me wondering why he’s wearing earmuffs
I've finished transitioning to electric for my lawn service. I still wear plugs.
Only thing- longer grass, less battery life.
Same as gas. Longer grass, fewer yards per gallon.
No thanks, I’ll stick to the vertex
Looks like it's beating you to death and going to fall apart I can just see the thing plugged in charging in the garage going up in flames like the DeWalt did yeah I'll pass I don't need no barbecued garage
The to be fair my property is pretty bumpy currently. A regular subdivision lawn that’s smooth wouldn’t be so bad.
THESE DAYS a swipe of a pen could put everyone on something like this……just sayin
From people who never worked a day in their life no less.
California.......
“Im a homeowner and its great for my little 2 acre property. More people should get this because it’s better than gas, it’s green, and you don’t need to get gas or do oil changes, and I feel so good about myself…blah blah blah”
Is it really though? Is it really green? Is it really better than gas? Firstly, it’s made with just as much plastic as anything else, manufacturing of Lithium batteries isn’t all that green, and it still needs grease and oils. So the only thing you’re cutting out here is exhaust. Secondly, these things don’t last. Nothing electric ever does. It’s too many angry electrons flying around. You’re not going to see one of these sitting in a garage 15 years from now. Lastly, if you think buying gas is an issue….wait until you have to replace the batteries, charging cables and motors on these. A single EGO 56V battery costs $599. That’s 170 gallons of gas at current price. That’s on top of the $7,000 you already spent on the machine and that’s double what you’ll pay for a similar gas.
I want there to be electric equipment, but the technology isn’t there yet.
Battery powered equipment is pretty worthless, but hey, I am sure that someone will like it 😂
Never!
A golf cart that mows grass….
Golf carts these days are pretty dope though!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance forget about it
don't go on a hill. lol them baby tires poor baby mower.
Ya great job blaring music ever time yall use the mower
They will wind up being like todays appliances' pure junk. Scrap yard nightmare...battery's will be expensive. Machine goes dead in the middle of a job
Don't like electric
Worst mower EVER!!!! stick with gas! Read about all these ego zero turns that fault at 2 or 3 hours like ours and Ego support tells you to take to a repair shop, and the wait it 8 weeks or more!!
