It's also a lie. Austin brought it up on the podcast with Goldberg (which is on the WWE Vault channel) and Goldberg said he enjoyed it and got a kick out of it.
He might have undermined the dancing dinosaus aspect of the gimmick and with some luck maybe got away with it to be repackaged as something less ridiculous. But that would always have been a gamble on Vince getting him as a dangerous guy and not Vince just giving up on him and straight out firing him.
5:00 Triple H probably Kig of the Ring royalty gimmick because he probably thought if he won they'd force him to do that Jean Paul Lesveque gimmick again
To be completely fair to Undertaker: Brodus Clay failed because he was terrible. Rikishi, Too Cool, and Fandango have all had successful dancing gimmicks. Tyrus could never do the Rikishi flip bump.
I think is was a mix of both. Rikishi and Fandango worked, but they just had to dance, not also act like a dinosaur at the same time. Also some gimmicks are just better suited for certain wrestlers than for others and let's say dancing dinosaur was not the right gimmick for Brodus.
it wasnt stevie and godfather didnt get along. godfather was miserable about the gimmick change and took it out on stevie. stevie was just an actor playing a role and not the real leader of the group. he has apologized for his behavior since then.
Stevie Richards recently explained the heat between himself & The Godfather. Godfather was losing a ton of $$$ because of The Goodfather thing...and he held it against Stevie. Even though Stevie had zero control in the situation and was only doing his job/what he was told to do.
He would be damned if did, damned if he didn't. If he *wasn't* homophobic, he likey hated that the gimmick was so blatantly to INCITE homophobia from fans (which worked), and the more likely story is that he WAS homophobic himself and like you said, didn't want to be felt up or spanked by a man in front of millions of viewers (I wouldn't, and I'm not homophobic toward others)...
The fact that The Miz has done well for himself. All while over the years, people came to hate CM Punk. And he was always caught up in some controversies. Speaks volumes
I actually liked the funkasaurus. Yet, if taker didnt like it then how in the frig did he like the godfather and the ho-train. Bc they were good buddies?
I think it's easy to look at Scott Hall and say he was being homophobic toward Goldust, but like. that's the point of the gimmick. it's a terrible gimmick, invented to stir homophobia in crowds. watch those early Goldust programs. that's the point. Scott not wanting to do them is, to me, a queer person, completely fucking understandable. I wouldn't want anything to do with it, either.
Not quite the same thing but I do find the Kizarney picture at the end quite interesting. When the vignettes were being shown for him, I was totally lost. Not just because of the odd speech pattern but because I didn't get why a carnival worker would want to cross over into pro wrestling to begin with. It wasn't until he debuted on screen and J.R. talking about how pro wrestling was born at the carnival that I was willing to give the gimmick a chance. But sadly, by the time Kizarney got on screen, management had already given up on him and were just playing out the string.
Not defending Goldberg kicking Bret,,but many people gloss over, or just forget, that Bret SMASHED the back of his head doing his dangerous Figure 4 On the Steel Post spot, AND he wrestled, traveled in planes (big head injury no-no), and kind of ignored some early warning signs. Now I know Bret is from a different era--- u suck it up, and if u can GO, YOU GO...also, I wanna repeat that I'm not taking ANYTHING away from the actual kick from Goldberg, as things were all residual from that... But pushing through a head injury, even back then when we were just scratching the surface on the seriousness of getting concussed, is bizarre.... especially when I believe WCW was still giving out guaranteed contracts & gave one to Bret,,but correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe part of Bret being old school is having the mentality that if you rest, you don't get paid, &/or the more u miss time, the more you LOSE IT whenever you come back (the old "someone will take ur spot" thing)... We'll never know... Ultimately, totally non-injury related, but WCW immediately, consistently, & overwhelmingly dropping the ball on booking the then arguably best worker, AND hottest talent coming off the gigantic happening of the Montreal Screwjob, is the Craziest thing of all. Goes to show you both how far Bischoff's head was up Hogan's arss, and how much "power" he and Nash had... it's like missing an uncontested layup
Gillberg has actually said in interviews. Him and Goldberg have spoken and Goldberg no longer hates him. He understands Gillberg was just playing a character WWE wanted him to play.
The Funkasaurus worked in as much as coasting off that run is how Tyrus stayed relevant for as long as he did. Clay as a monster of the week for John Cena would plummeted back down the card as fast as he rose up it.
Brodus had to be the fun guy Funkasaurus because WWE was already getting Lord Tensai as a monster heel. Neither worked well in the long run, so yeah, maybe Brodus should have been the heel like Bronson Reed, and Lord Tensai would have been brought back as A-Train which fans would have probably gotten into more positively.
Know it won't happen but instead of breaking the title record I would like to see Cena go against people he never wrestled like his U.S. title run. Imagine him besting Samoa Joe, Moose, Chad Gable, and Braun Strowman on his way to his final match.
When it comes to the miz I feel he was underrated for so long that now he’s overrated by some people. Don’t confuse longevity with greatness, both can be celebrated but celebrate them for the right thing
Eric Bischoff putting all his eggs in the nWo basket with no clear-cut endgame to it never made sense to me especially when it became obvious that the nWo and WCW becoming two independent brands wasn't going to pan out, so I think that's why he didn’t give anyone or anything else any sort of noteworthy consideration. I still remember the commentarors still going on about the nWo even during matches when the nWo wasn't involved. Personally, I got fed up hearing the nWo theme song nearly 20 times per night. Wolfpac extended the nWo shelf life for a little while, but I remember giving up on WCW a little bit before Mick Foley won the WWF Championship. Sorry for my tangent.
Incorrect. Razor Ramon was popped on failing a drug test so he missed Wrestlemania. Roddy Piper then faced Goldust at Wrestlemania. Razor faced Vader at the next In Your House ppv in April.
Raven always had it rough. Remember his days as the Canadian guy?? He actually went all in on a spoiled rich kids son. Vince never seen him as a wrestler tho, even tho his physique was the same as Shawn and Marty Jennety, and had twice the mic skills as Jennety.
The funny thing about it, both the fake Diesel (Glen Jacobs) & the fake Razor Ramon (Rick Bognar) after their brief & short-lived stint in the WWF (now WWE). They ended up in USWA Wrestling (the WWF's former farm league) they didn't make much of an impact in Memphis. But they were eventually dissolved as the fake Diesel & the fake Razor Ramon. Also, Raven got really underutilized & done wrong in WCW by Eric Bischoff, who should have been using & pushing this guy better than what he did. They only made Raven a one-day & one-night WCW United States 🇺🇸 Heavyweight Champion WTF? Also, him capturing the WCW World Tag Team Championships with Perry Saturn was awesome. But he still got shafted in WCW.
I definitely always thought Raven should've and would've made a good WCW Champ, a great antagonist and dey could've did it like a Triple H in Evolution kinda thang, were da Flock would've been da reason he retained for maybe a defense or two and den maybe dey turn on him wit maybe two members seeing Raven for wat he really was and ask for title shots respectfully. Idk, I'm not da writers but y'all get da picture lol!
It was months, not weeks for Fake Razor & Diesel; they lasted well into '97. Glenn would probably never feel so lucky (until recent election results) before *that* year was out, as far as his THIRD WWF gimmick in two years went...Rick was NOT so lucky.
I dont know what to say about the funkasaurus thing; taker was right it was horrible but it’s also the only thing clay is known for; it sux but hes been milking it for years and he will never outgrow it kinda like herpes

I remember Sgt. Slaughter being pissy about Lacey Evans turning her actual career as a Marine into a character.
Egos are the worst. The whole industry is an act already. Maybe he scoffs at females in the military. Oh well 😂
@inspectortragic He's just mad that Lacey actually served in the military unlike him.
@kingwokester7324 it crossed my mind, but he's older and old people are set in their ways
Even though Slaughter was never in the military….
She should have been more like Sarge and turned her fake career as a marine into a wrestling character
Goldberg hating Gillberg is hillarious.
It's also a lie. Austin brought it up on the podcast with Goldberg (which is on the WWE Vault channel) and Goldberg said he enjoyed it and got a kick out of it.
"The goldust character was so different"
Me: *laughs in Gorgeous George*
Man, Brodus Clay probably should've taken Taker's advice. But also can't go over direct instructions from your boss
Alternatively, Taker could have said something to Vince.
@@vermontmike9800
Why? Is Taker secretly his daddy?
@@vermontmike9800 I don't agree with your statement bro.

Maybe Mark(The Undertaker) should have used his backstage pull with Vince to help get that Gimick killed.
Simon, I agree with you about Miz. Lowkey, he has had one of the best careers ever. Hard to believe he's been in the wwe for 20 freaking years.
Raven is so damn under rated
Punk has a problem with everyone but Punk.
it wasnt stevie and godfather didnt get along. godfather was miserable about the gimmick change and took it out on stevie. stevie was just an actor playing a role and not the real leader of the group. he has apologized for his behavior since then.
Oh but according to the fanbase he should get on his knees and apologize personally to Steve lol. Fans are weird.
Am I the only one who loved the Funk O' Saurus and his theme tune - Somebody Call My Momma?
Stevie Richards recently explained the heat between himself & The Godfather. Godfather was losing a ton of $$$ because of The Goodfather thing...and he held it against Stevie. Even though Stevie had zero control in the situation and was only doing his job/what he was told to do.
JBL hated the Blue Meanie's gimmick, and thus shot on him at ECW One Night Stand.
I don't see how someone not wanting to get felt up by another man on live tv with fam watching at home equals homophobia.
Because it is
@@Canrugger Not really.
It shouldn't, that should just be a comfort thing regardless of gay, straight or whatever.

Bret hates almost everyone... It's just him being salty

To this day, every 4th of July, I hold a sparkler stick in the air for Gillberg.
Gillberg has actually said in interviews. Him and Goldberg have spoken and Goldberg no longer hates him. He understands Gillberg was just playing a character WWE wanted him to play.
Punk may not have realized that Cena wasn't the WWE poster boy because he was the best wrestler, he was merely the best "sports entertainer".
The Funkasaurus worked in as much as coasting off that run is how Tyrus stayed relevant for as long as he did. Clay as a monster of the week for John Cena would plummeted back down the card as fast as he rose up it.
Vickies "EXCUSE ME"
Goldberg got a kick out of Gillberg. He didn't hate the gimmick. He even said as much on the Stone Cold podcast.
The Undertaker, who started off as a zombie, who then became someone who could create lightning with his hands, is calling any other gimmick stupid?
Punk has become what he once hated
Brodus had to be the fun guy Funkasaurus because WWE was already getting Lord Tensai as a monster heel. Neither worked well in the long run, so yeah, maybe Brodus should have been the heel like Bronson Reed, and Lord Tensai would have been brought back as A-Train which fans would have probably gotten into more positively.
Some of the gimicks were forced upon them by wwe management as punishement.
Know it won't happen but instead of breaking the title record I would like to see Cena go against people he never wrestled like his U.S. title run. Imagine him besting Samoa Joe, Moose, Chad Gable, and Braun Strowman on his way to his final match.
Uh, Bret hates Goldberg so much he exclusively calls him Bill Goldberg

You think "Gillberg" was to mock Duane Gill and not Goldberg himself AND WCW? 🤣🤣
Vince McMahon being a respectable human being
If Sting had won inn97 as he should have, Raven should have been the first post NWO challenger.
Hold up, Bret Hart doesn't like Goldberg? Wow Bret never talks about that does he?
I never got the Jimmy Yang Wang gimmick, and I didnt get why the fans liked it

He wanted to make brodus a scary heel not junkyard dancer
Equating not liking the Goldust gimmick to homophobia is just lazy and stupid.

Fake razor and fake diesel sucked gillberg was awesome goldberg deserved that for ending Bret Harte career
CM punk is just a big baby
Some of these are stupid.
There is no more useless wrestler in the history and pantheon of Superstars than Stevie Richards. I just cannot give a shite.

Brodus Clay sucks no matter which gimmick he has...
