Yeah I just subscribed.. I learned the beginners method...Now I can consistently solve the cube in about 20 minutes...sometimes longer if I stop to smell the roses.. and its a lot of fun...Got my first cube 40 years ago. unscrambled it and laid on my bookcases 25 years in that state...so now a bit skeptical would like to be able to solve it real fast before my 80th Birthday which isn't far off..So as soon as I get a new cube I'm going for it..thanks for the instructions....Meanwhile have fun using the beginners method...a cube solve now every morning. thanks

2:15 usually professional cubers are color neutral... They prefer to solve the cross which is easy to solve

What I get from this and J Perm's video about the same world record is that Yusheng got lucky with an exceptionally easy scramble. Preparation met opportunity. He wouldn't have been able to do it if he wasn't an excellent speed cuber, but also he had to get a scramble that was easy.
As a beginner I try to scramble my cube so no elements are in their right places, or in the right orientation next to each other for a quick solve. Then I start with the blue side, and I know I should really be able to start with any color so I'm working on that.
I'm wondering, how are the scrambles for these competitions generated? Are they ever checked for simplicity of solve? Does everyone get the same set of scrambles? If a top 5 speed cuber had been present and had the same scramble, might they have gone even faster?

I’m no expert, intermediate level cuber but I think the scrambles are generated randomly with AI. Probably aren’t checked at all for anything. Not to mention, I wouldn’t believe the same scramble for five different cubers would be fair or ethical.
Cubing veteran (sort of) here. The scrambles are generated by computers but there is still criteria to make sure you don’t get TOO lucky, and they are not checked because we know the computer did it according to the criteria. Also, there are different groups in each round. Everyone in the same group gets the same scrambles, but there are many groups usually in one competition. And yes, I bet top 5 people could have easily got possibly sub 3 if they saw this solution. But for this guy to see this solution and beat his nerves and even at the level he was to get this time is still insane.
@@notdoopsie7304 Thanks for the info, that's pretty much as I thought. Taking nothing away from the record breaker. He is like an Olympic sprinter, he has trained for years to get to his level, and then just as he's running the 100 meters a big puff of wind blows from behind and helps him along. He could not have got the record without all his training which takes a lot of dedication, and not everybody has the body, brain and the willpower to get to this level.
I agree that all rubiks should be the same scramble for all players in the competition.
