In this video I am going to show you how to track your investment portfolio growth in a chart form! This is all thanks to one of my subscribers Tommy. He reached out to my via email we his code and sheet that he was able to create from scratch. This was something so many of you have been asking for, for a while now. And thanks to Tommy we finally have a tutorial! I will walk you through how exactly to recreate this for your own use. It can then be applied to any other tracker that you have on google sheets that is tracking your investments!

Can you please share your latest master tracker and then add this one there in a new tab? A great sheet by Tommy but hard to maintain different sheets. Would love to see your master tracker in one place with portfolio chart also.
my tools tab doesn't have script editor
How do I get this to track my stocks and my crypto as well as my total portfolio? I have it set up currently to auto log as per this video for total portfolio. But every time I try to add crypto in stocks in new Columns or pages and define the range and sheets it doesn’t seem to work, even if I add the triggers too. How would I fix it?
I briefly managed to get it to work but it wouldn’t log the lifetime and only the daily movement.
This is awesome, all my current trackers are from your older videos and I know I asked about net worth tracking a couple times on the discord! Love to see it!

That certainly is not a bad sheet. I have a pretty similar one in excel using stockhistory since 2020. Easy to go back in time but very slow to work in excel. Might think to migrate towards matlab.

How do you format the chart to put the dates on the horizontal axis? or will they just show up as time passes?

Hi, Your How-To videos are great. I'm having a problem with the dayChartDelete Trigger. When I run the dayChartDelete function from the script it works. But won't run from the Trigger. I have double checked my work. The other two timers are working. Any ideas?

@Think Stocks Great work man! I had a question regarding your dark themed portfolio tracker. I have followed your previous portfolio tracker and use it every day. Now i wanted to try this version because of the SPLIT option. The first 10 lines are working perfect, but when i log my entries and exits the position tab is doing something strange. It doesn't remove the stocks I sold and doesn't add the new stocks that i bought. Can you help me pls? Greetings from Belgium!
Is your function capturing all the cells?
You actually dont have to "drag" all the formulas all the way down manually to copy them. if you just double click the blue box instead of dragging, it will copy the formula down in the entire column immediately.

Man, this is awesome and exactly what I was looking for. Currently integrating this into my modified version of your dark theme portfolio tracker...it's working well!
The only thing I wish I could get some help on is integrating Tommy's different date ranges into it. I managed to pull all the scripts from the end of the video and they run fine, I'm just having a hard time figuring out how he has the dates on the charts set up (on the PvD auto sheet). I think I'm missing some notes?

The last sheet is PvD (auto) and it references cells on the first sheet, dashboard.
I think the script is right, I can't get it to synch right with the dates and everything though
@@josephm1234 have a look at it, I just fixed it up and walked through it, you will have to set up triggers yourself but hopefully its all clear. Read the dates to get a better understanding, mainly the top-most ones

I had guessed it worked something like that, but without being able to fully read your notes in the vid, I was gonna have to do a lot of reverse engineering to fully figure out your triggers/spacing.

@@josephm1234 No worries. You can always adjust the update frequency to however you would like. The charts will all appear the same in the next few days-weeks (as they do in the vid) until the time length is passed, but definitely a long term benefit. Anyways, all the best. (also make sure synch code/totalvalue code is an on-edit trigger)

Is there also a way to get the growth chart by different asset classes? So for example, if I want to see how did AAPL grow over the past year
Just use the sparkline formula, for example: SPARKLINE(GOOGLEFINANCE(B4,"price",TODAY()-365,TODAY(),"daily"),{"charttype","line";"linewidth",1;"color","#5f88cc"})

Just did these scripts with the new Apps Scripts IDE under Extensions and it returned an error on line 4 about null value in E1 and H1 respectively. I discovered that the Script either didn't like the space or ( in the PvD (Auto) sheet name. Changing the sheet name to PvD resolved the error and the script ran thereafter.
Would there be a way to implement a correction in the chart when buying more stocks? Whenever you buy stocks the chart will depict an extra bump in growth, even though your stocks might be depreciating..
I wanted something similar so instead of referencing my 'value' i just referenced my '$ profit', therefore no major jumps and dips were shown when buying and selling - i then overlapped the two charts so 1 line is value, and the other is $profit

Thanks! Copy/paste screenshot into picture/text translator. Copy/paste into script. Delete the junk and maybe fix a few errors. Easy. I once tried to get GPT to help me with this but it just wasted my day.

Don't know much but here's what I think:
1. If it's working properly on Windows then it should work on Google Sheets App.
2. As Net Worth is being tracked, if you buy or sell shares your Net Worth will be changed. So yeah, new trades will be included.

I wonder would you be able to make a tutorial how to track the quantity of different assets during time. Y - quantity, x - time. I'd definitely use that feature!
exact same method and code, all that changes is A1 becomes your 'quantity' not value

@@pauliuszabinskas8377 You can just use cell A2 instead and just double up on the code this time replacing everywhere you see A1 as A2 and printing it all out in new columns

I had to create new sheet for data to be collected, to keep it tidy. Used "lifetimechart" script and had to make a time trigger. Now all of the assets had to be done individually. But it works. Cheers for help mate

Hmm interesting, like there's no trigger tab in the script editor?
@@ThinkStocks I have the trigger tab and was able to set the other two triggers just not the day delete one.
Ahh okay, check to make sure the function is saved properly. The trigger are created from the functions in the script editor. So make sure you have the daychart delete function and everything is spelt right on that one

I was hoping you could help me. I am getting this "#NAME?" in some of my cells. Why is that?
In addition, Why does my lifetime chart show more than 1 value on the same day when i set my trigger to be daily at 4-5pm?
Change the name of the sheet from "PvD Auto" to "PvD" and also change it on the script aswell. It worked for me

No it works, check your code over. I had the same problem and I had misspelt length. Now it works perfectly.
