I’ve been waiting for this video And I’m really happy to see that we both came to similar conclusions on what to play I just play zealantis instead of starboy since it’s useless imo and zealantis could come up 2 sstealth II instead of one and no skill drain ( but I’ll try it) Also no acid golem since no sdrain and instead i was playing around with number 37, he’s kinda cute Shoutout to both you and Puzzledwhale!
I've been messing around with Kairyu-Shin + Swordsoul on MD and have been having been fairly successful (I won 10 out of my last 12 games in gold rank). There are some really cool synergies between the archetypes, it's been a blast to play. People expend all their counterplay trying to stop the swordsouls and have nothing left to stop Kairyu-Shin. Since the Swordsoul token is WATER, you can do most of their combos under Kairyu-Shin's flood no problem, and end on some pretty strong WATER synchros. Sea Stealth is banishment-on-demand for Chengying, White Whale is a great board breaker, Dragite protects you from Evenly Matched and Cosmic Cyclone, and there's even a couple ways to make Final Sigma. Even with a really bad hand, Tenyi make for easy tributes for Kairyu-Shin. Spiral Serpent fits in perfectly as a high-level WATER Wyrm Vanilla beatstick, Swordsouls, Tenyi, Sonar, Sea Stealths, and Pacifis all work well with it. If you can't get either engine off the ground (even with Sonar and Emergence), any combination of Jelly, Shthana, Mo Ye get your choice of Rank 4. It's a pretty cool mashup, would recommend.
I actually just started with the Shark package as well, such a good package and I didn't even think that mah boi Salmon is a fish which works with Abyss Shark!!!. Great profile as always, Sir Barely. Congratulations on the road to 1.5k!
I was looking up some XYZs to use for the deck and I found another card to add to the Honor Ark line. Number 21: Frozen Lady Justice. She stacks on top of a rank 5 by detaching a material, C101 is a rank 5 with lots of materials, and Frozen Lady also gains 1000 attack for each material it has, base of 500. You're gonna have probably 4 materials under her, meaning she's 4500. And with Abyss Shark doubling the first damage done by a number monster... well to quote Phil Swift "That's a lot of damage!" Though C101 can bring it's self back and gain you life plus stealing a monster each turn, so it's depended on what's needed. Better monster, C101, bigger monster, 21. Edit: I'm leaving this here just know I am blind because Crystal Girl searches at the end of turn, not on summon. I also just wrote an essay long comment on a budget version of Fish Sonar, which is a One for One, Crystal Girl, and Testudo erat Numen. But now I'm thinking that might just be a good package to put in the deck. One for One with Crystal Girl is basically Foolish Burial Goods and Ice Barrier plus a material/tribute fodder. So getting One for One basically means you have Kairyu-Shin on board and it can search a Umi. Numen is a backup target for tribute fodder, but is also a floodgate it's self. Now I'm questioning if me trying to find a budget package lead me to a side or main deck package. Because One for One and Crystal Girl don't care about the grave for this interaction, making it a little better than the Foolish Goods Ice Barrier combo in the current "I banish the grave" meta. Crystal Girl can also search Gameciel or Abyss Shark. Both are waters so it doesn't interrupt anything and Jellyfish can summon either of them if you draw them, plus even if you draw them without Jellyfish Numen is a half way decent flood gate and Crystal can start the Honor Ark line all by her self. Summon Crystal Girl, search Abyss, summon search Crystal Shark, summon Coral Anemone and bring back Abyss because why not, then do the rest. I don't have Pot of $40, so I think I'm gonna try these 3 cards in it's place. Curious what you think of it, unless I'm blind and there's a big "NO" button somewhere on these cards, I think I found a really good package for the deck to add more consistency, well if you take some of the other cards out instead, trading Prosperity for these is a downgrade. Probably can go down to 2 Abyss Sharks, and 2 Dark Rulers putting the third in the side because you might actually win the die roll is and idea to get room for 2 cards. Also to add even more to the comment, why a 2nd Warrior of Atlantis instead of a Terraforming? Warrior can get hit by all the grave hate since it needs to touch the grave to search, while Terraforming doesn't. Is it because you got the Ultimate Rare Warriors of Atlantis lol? God damn it I wrote another essay by accident, there's just so much to say ya and ask know.
I’ll try out Number 21, I have a copy and she honestly seems like a very easy way to game people out of nowhere. Terraforming is arguably better than the 2nd copy of warrior of Atlantis. I completed my Ulti playset and just wanted to play another copy.
have you thought about using General Wayne of the ice barrier? its a built in D Fissure but just for your opp spell and traps, and when it is normal or special summoned you can add a "Ice Barrier" spell/trap from your deck and add it to your hand, so you can add the trap "Ice Barrier", its quite handy and its another lvl 5 for your rank 4 plays (when legendary ocean is on field). I also side Barrier statue of the Torrent, its fun against decks rogue and some meta decks as they do not see it coming,
I’ve actually messed around with and OCG list that uses the Bugroth / Limiter Removals. Wasnt too crazy about it after testing - considering Fortress Whale can make everything attack directly.

Looking up One for One targets, Crystron Quan and Fishborg Launcher are level 1 tuners, Launcher can resurrect himself once, and Testudo erat Numen is a level 1 floodgate but is like $5. So maybe 1 One for One, 1 Crystal Girl, and 1 Numen or Launcher to replace the 3 Fish Sonars? One for One can be used to help you get a monster out for as a Tribute for Kairyu-Shin and Crystal can search him with Numen as a back up target and a half way decent floodgate for the deck, a deck that topped also had it in the side deck. So if you see One for One it's basically like seeing Foolish Burial Goods. Regular Foolish, as it may be one of the best cards in the game, is not good for this, Crystal Girl still needs you to have a level 5 out for it's grave effect and Launcher needs another water in grave. Maybe lean a bit harder towards the extra deck and the Shark cards too if you're not playing any Pot cards, or you just like the extra deck. Look up different Shark decks probably to get an idea. This is all I can think of/found right now, but I was a little surprised there were more options than just play more Foolish Goods. Oh and Terrorking Salmon may or may not be a good idea if you don't have Fish Sonar, Sonar gives you a free vanilla and it's a backup target for Abyss Shark, Dark Reef can bring out Salmon but doing that is usually a win more synergy unlike the free level 5 Material for XYZs or Links, since you'll probably have enough attack to win next turn anyways with Dark Reef and Whale. Might be a good idea to play another Shark card in it's place to make the extra deck more useful, looking up Shark cards Lantern Shark seems to be good. And another Sea Stealth Attack wouldn't hurt, since you can't get Kairyu-Shin out as often you won't be able to search Sea Stealth Attack, and it's a card you really need to see. And a 2nd Sea Stealth II might do something, since it can bring Kairyu-Shin out during the battle phase and is Umi, so even though Kairyu-Shin is going to be destroyed one way or another, this gets it's effect off and you can use akin to a board wipe. Just another thing I thought of before I hit that blue reply button. Hope this helped, but just know that Fish Sonar is still the best way to get Kairyu-Shin, there are always work arounds and budget options, but if you can get Fish Sonar I recommend it. I don't know why but half of my youtube comments are just essays, sorry about that.

If I’m going 1st I’ll take out the DRNM and really try to optimize whatever traps /spells I need. If I’m going 2nd in G2/G3 I’m typically taking out Skill Drains, the 2nd Dark Reef, etc.
If you chain Sea Stealth Attack to banish the monster to the activation of your water monsters effect they will resolve due to Skill Drain only negating the effects of monsters on the field.
Ok, just one more question, I saw a video saying when skill drain is face up and you normal summon kairyu shin that his discard condition would work but then be negated do you know if that is true or not?
I really wish that Honor Dark's attach effect was quick, so you could attach a monster every time it revives itself, and use the new material to keep on reviving.
To be fair I haven’t gotten to play the mirror a lot. I’d imagine getting to & maintaining Jellyfish is huge aspect of it. Being able to negate crucial effects. Fortress whale is probably pretty important as he’ll allow you to go for game under your opponent’s Sea Stealth Attack. If you go first & are playing the Ojama traps you can hard-lock them before they can ever have a chance to really do much.

Sea stealth attack imo should be played at 3, its your best protection card and automatically puts either ocean or sea stealth ii on the board

With Side Decking in Rounds 2 and 3, what do you tend to side out in a typical match?

I dropped Mistar Boy, Nightmare Shark and Water Charmer for Stealth Kragen and 2 Spawn
