Keep calm Tommy, Drewski is here, nothing to see... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ahem. Thank you very much good sir, I'm glad you enjoyed watching! :-D
When I first tried flying in Arma I kept nose diving into the ground so I gave up LOL Then I saw your original landing guides and changed up my controls. Now I get compliments on my landings every game I fly in and I think I'm one of the better known pilots on RHS. Thanks for making such great guides!
Ahhh man you have no idea how much this comment hit me! Thanks so much! Really means the world to see people being helped out here and there by my stuff. That's so awesome though, glad the bindings are working well for you. Happy flying!
I was a helicopter fan ever since I bought Arma 3. I never played Arma 2 and had no clue how to fly. I used to fly with my keyboard, but the movement was... poor. Then I started looking for good tutorials and of course for a joystick. When I watched your first video and copied your keybindings and actually started practicing on the editor for a couple hours every day, my skills improved automatically. I must say that I am still bad (at least in my opinion), but I'm trying to improve my skills by simply training and trying to get better every day. All of this started with your video, so... Thank you very much! I'm surely happy about my progress and because of you I didn't have to spend any money on an expensive joystick. Now I've been practicing for about 1,5 week and actually tried to make some videos of my landings just to be able to take a look at them in the future. If you could take a look at them and MAYBE, just maybe, give me some advice I would highly appreciate it! Thank you and have a good landing!
Hey Ayitos mate! That's such an awesome story. So many ppl had really mixed reactions to my bindings, but it's great to hear you kept sticking at it. I've watched your video, and I have to say you're doing brilliantly. One thing I'd try and get better at is your take offs. You seem to fly directly over the AO a bit slower than you'd like to. I would ramp this up and try and get faster at getting out of there. If I was on the ground, I'd have no problem shooting you out when you take off. Keep up the piloting!! -Tommeh

Have to add about choosing lz's. Typically lz's behind the enemy lines lack ground information. A risk to you and the people you are dropping off. It also depends on the map, Kavala always has a high concentration north while the west is typically quite. So know how the map flows and changes. Choosing behind the line lz's is okay, just be aware of who you are carrying. A group of level 4 will die within minutes behind the lines, versus a group of lvl 50 who can do quite a bit of damage to enemies unaware of a flank.
Oftentimes there are no lines in the AO - factions can simply form blobs and hold one particular area. At that point some decent recon is required to figure out where the enemies cannot reach so an LZ can be decided upon. This is often complicated by the presence of enemy snipers outside the AO.
This is a great point, really important. Thank you for raising this. Can't believe I forgot about levels, but yes, if you have all level 10's and below and you're landing in a risky area, you better be damn sure it's safe for them. Some level 50's+ might be able to clutch their way out of a bad landing and run to cover, so this is another point to keep vigilant on when flying in KOTH. And @ragabara another excellent issue there. That is the real impracticality of war in a sense. Not knowing everything. All helped by VOIP communication of course though.

I use a cheep joystick you can get on Amazon. I recommend it all the way, especially since the one I got had a ton of buttons. I forgot to mention the joystick is called the "Thrust Master 6000"
Do another video of you just landing in the ao but explain the action ur doing rather than the keybinds ur using. For example say you do a j hook then now a pedal in and so on
I remembered when I was really new as a helicopter pilot about 3 years ago. Those few soldiers talk was talking shit about my pilot skills and so I crashed the helicopter head down on purpose. Well, I don't need their respect as I am always switching servers. So don't talk shit to the pilot if you are not going to trust them even how bad is their flying skill. At least they got me to my location most of the time.
@@cl7k243 Oh that's a tricky one to master. Make sure you're using a good emergency pitch up key and you're good to go as this will save you from having to use your mouse constantly to spiral.
I can't fully fully remember, but I think it's this video: th-cam.com/video/0ymWTO3ei6s/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/2nN3WNgyCuU/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps you man haha, surprised you liked the Russian Dubstep like I do!
@@CallMehTOMMEH omah ghad!!! You replied 😍🤩 seriously your awesome! Also your videos really helped me!! Thank you so much! Keep up the good work good sir!!! Also yes I kind of have a wierd taste in music!
You do...kind of. With a HOTAS setup you'd be applying that same principle to your joystick usage. So for example, you'd be pulling back hard to perform a J-HOOK landing. Alternatively, you could bind pitch up to a secondary button that's easy to press on your joystick.
Yeah, you've got it! So my main philosophy is control speed. I can pull back on the mouse and run out of mouse mat space, and you could keep pulling back on the joystick, but its much more efficient to streamline this important binding into something direct and quick for those really tight bleed flares.
@@CallMehTOMMEH to be honest, took me almost a year to get it. I learned about this technique last year from your old video, but never managed to quite pull it off. after a year of flying, I think I'm a way better pilot now. But today I still couldn't to it without crashing heli getting hard to control (and then crashing in a house). Now with your clarification and some experimentation, I finally figured it out and want so share this one crucial detail: You also have to have your collective in neutral, instead of pulling on it, while turning! Only right at the end you slightly push it down of course, to land. Because I saw in your video, that while turning you also don't press W/S. My mistake was to always pulling on the collective while turning, put Arma seems to help you more to stay in the air if you have collective on neutral (at least in SFC). Thanks!
Nice flying. I have a question though. Can i stop the leveling out of the cyclic movement (i hope it makes sense..) when i cycle forward, the heli starts going level ever so slightly, meaning i must correct that with more mouse movement. Is that adjustable in settings so that i do not have to keep runnign out of mousepad on the flight towards the ao?
I see what you mean. So what you need to do is either buy a bigger mousepad, or learn to bleed your speed with the X key (cyclic up) first so you don't have to rely so much on your mouse mat. Alternatively you can learn to centre your mouse even mid flight, I used to do this back when I had really tiny mousepads
every time i go to land i blow up is this a case of hitting the floor to hard or going to fast, and do you fly using advance or normal flying as i have tried advanced and cant get my head round it.
Hey tommeh how do you make it so free look is on but you can still control the heli with your mouse? because when i double tap alt my mouse only controls where i look. Thanks- Nit3mare
Hahah I was wondering...it was always gonna be a matter of time until one of the poor pilots watched this video! xD No hard feelings man, I eat my words, crash, crash and crash time and time again just like everyone else lol
CallMehTOMMEH haha i just wanted to try out new ways to fly like sideways, i know how to fly normaly and pretty well i think, i find it better to try to test my limets, i find i learn from it. But i id never say am perfect i can always learn to get better.

I think you deserve a lot more attention and that even Drewski comments under your videos is already a hint that you have great potential to became a well-known ytber! Keep it up!
Have a nice new day(now it's already the 13th)!
Edit: And I don't want to annoy u at this time so good night! :)

Is keyboard a viable option for advanced landings or is it worth going all in with learning mouse early on?
Deffo try to combine both K and M
LOL- The random surprise little asshole trees... After a while you have to just remember where those damn things pop up
Bloody horror game if you ask me. They are arseholes, glad we agree there lol
I’m watching this so I can be a pilot on a HALO server. Most of the vehicles are VTOL so this applies pretty well.
Glad to be of help Garret!
Good tutorial I crash in style now😊😎
Oh dear, I don't think I've done my job then lol
I just watched your very first 101 now this!? :)
Perfect man, this one is the next one along, mainly for KOTH pilots though. Previous one was for any gamemode really hehe
I can see an M16 with acog the video , its that gun with a specific mod or just server gun?
I use a cheep joystick you can get on Amazon. I recommend it all the way, especially since the one I got had a ton of buttons. I forgot to mention the joystick is called the "Thrust Master 6000"
Thanks for recommending this man! Joysticks can deffo be the way to go for some pilots in ArmA.
I. Guessing this guide can also sort of transpose over to Arma 2 right?
Do another video of you just landing in the ao but explain the action ur doing rather than the keybinds ur using. For example say you do a j hook then now a pedal in and so on
Roger that, good idea for a video! Thanks Trends!
Ay Love the tutorials they are awesome!!! Im on doing the J-hook method I keep on gaining altitude :/ Any tips?
th-cam.com/video/W5sFl7sSxPI/w-d-xo.html :-)
This is a bit late but how do you get your camera to move like that when you land? Mine just stays in the center
If you see this, 2 years late I know, what KOTH serves do you play on for Pawnees because mine don’t have any armed vehicles
Make sure it doesn't say 'Infantry'or 'Inf' in the server name
@@brexxes I found that out a few days later, the reason I couldn’t find one easy was the host I go through has one non inf and it’s an eu server
Never talk shit to the pilot. He controls your fate lol
Which head tracking device are you using? What is batter for Arma....TrackIR or eye tracker ?
TRACK IR for sure. More accurate!
14:55 note to self :)
Ayy, hope the tips helped man, and thank you for watching this far! ....you legend :D
CallMehTOMMEH ya, thanks my man, I’m becoming a decent pilot. The only thing I’m still rusty with is bleeding speed quickly(spiral)
@@cl7k243 Oh that's a tricky one to master. Make sure you're using a good emergency pitch up key and you're good to go as this will save you from having to use your mouse constantly to spiral.
How do you have the arma 2 mh9 skin in arma 3? Is it a thing with that server?
Sorry, but what make the "X" I mean in my config is autohover 😅
what have you done to make your game look so good?
Hey man! I use RealShade with the vibrant LUT: sh8.videopilot.link/real-light-7/ That makes all my colours pop :-)
Song name at 8:45 please? Great video btw!! Helped allot!!
Please I need to know I'm going crazy
I can't fully fully remember, but I think it's this video: th-cam.com/video/0ymWTO3ei6s/w-d-xo.html or
th-cam.com/video/2nN3WNgyCuU/w-d-xo.html
I hope this helps you man haha, surprised you liked the Russian Dubstep like I do!
@@CallMehTOMMEH omah ghad!!! You replied 😍🤩 seriously your awesome! Also your videos really helped me!! Thank you so much! Keep up the good work good sir!!! Also yes I kind of have a wierd taste in music!
@@CallMehTOMMEH at us it is normal people do not listen )
Do I understand correctly that the pitch-up key landing ("X"/J-Hook) is not possible with a HOTAS setup?
You do...kind of. With a HOTAS setup you'd be applying that same principle to your joystick usage. So for example, you'd be pulling back hard to perform a J-HOOK landing. Alternatively, you could bind pitch up to a secondary button that's easy to press on your joystick.
@@CallMehTOMMEH ah, so the extra pitch up hotkey is just a kind of extra forceful 'S'/normal up?
Thanks!
If u have gud fps ur automatically a good pilot
Thank you ;)
No, thank you for watching! :-)
So you have to be below 30kmph or you will be blowing up, and I use the normal mode. The advanced one is for joystick peeps lol
Hey tommeh how do you make it so free look is on but you can still control the heli with your mouse?
because when i double tap alt my mouse only controls where i look. Thanks- Nit3mare
I don't think you can, you can only do one or the other! :)
Still wondering, how did not the helli explode 8:00?
he landed on his right toe - pretty common that a heli lands without conscious pilot
hope to see ya on hc
*kisses
Whoop there it is...
No more whoopsydaisys in helicopters from now on hopefully with this vid eh? ;-)
@@CallMehTOMMEH I can take off and land sometimes fly in between that's enough for me.
What servers do you join?
Usually CodeFourGaming ones, anything 80+ man populations.
Those pesky spawning trees
One day JAWWK, ONE BLOODY DAY we'll have our come comeuppance. Mark mahh words!!
Quiet and Stealthy
So what's the difference between the Hummingbird and the M-900? Is it just the skin?
The M-900 flies MUCH worse than the Hummingbird. More clunky
njce video tutorial very good thank you man
Thanks Zoro man! Glad you liked it
How do you stop so quickly! That's my problem I just can't stop and I lose altitude way to fast
This may help you man: th-cam.com/video/TuDfVwlCSh0/w-d-xo.html
I always crash land or hit too hard. Why is that? I was great flying in BF3 and BF4 even DCS
whats better joystick or keyboard? thanks!
Keyboard and mouse for Arma 3, every time!
Just practice landing when picking up passengers and para drop for there saftey
Or land like a badass ;-)
Yikes i got called out
Hahah I was wondering...it was always gonna be a matter of time until one of the poor pilots watched this video! xD No hard feelings man, I eat my words, crash, crash and crash time and time again just like everyone else lol
CallMehTOMMEH haha i just wanted to try out new ways to fly like sideways, i know how to fly normaly and pretty well i think, i find it better to try to test my limets, i find i learn from it. But i id never say am perfect i can always learn to get better.
what trackers work in arma that i could use?
OpenTrack and TrackIR work. Others I'm not sure about
Now show us what you've got in a Black Hawk. Oh and anyone can land a Vtol like that in 3rd person :P
Deal ;)
What file do i choose for the fov changer
Okey, Fine, Good, Nice,
FUNFUCKINTASTIC PILOT
Hehehe, I approve this comment!! Thank you Michaks!
Do you fly on advanced helicopter mode ? Or basic?
Basic
