India's intent to invest in these mines and explore additional partnerships, like the one with Australia, showcases its efforts to diversify its lithium sources and reduce its heavy dependence on Chinese imports, a vulnerability considering the geopolitical tensions between the two countries.

Unfortunately most of the reserves in Argentina and Australia are already bought up by China. Not only Lithium but also Cobalt reserves in Africa have been mostly bought up by China. India is very late to the EV game but it's still good that we are making some progress.

Not just lithium mining but also processing is very important. 79% of the lithium in the world is processed in China. So even though we have lithium or got lithium from somewhere we will probably send it to China for processing till we setup a processing plant in India

@@joet5713 Found out. Argentina & India did a currency swap in February last year, The RBI allowed exports and imports between the two trading partners to be settled in rupees last year. This means Argentina has to keep Rupees cash reserves. Also means India bought Argentinian Pesos that are constantly worth less as they are devalued. Currency trade is risky market.

Just a nagging thought far removed from the present issue.....
If india is so dependant on china for many of her intermediate products, how and why are people talking of boycotting china economically?
The lithium reserves discovered in kashmir are another point. We have the reserves but no technology to harvest them. Yet we often see videos on social media berating Pakistan on this same issue. How is that logical??
