My thought on the 3pt splitter was it was putting more hours on my expensive tractor instead of a small engine that is much easier to replace. Great video!

yeah kubota tractors are cost less and cheaper then deeres and newhollands and kubota engines are the cheapest and so easy to work on wich why love kubota

Hi Gord! First, I loved the turtle intro and ending scenes. Mama turtle just laid her eggs, I assume. You made great arguments for why you have the implements you have and why you don’t have some other implements. I completely agree with you about box blade over land plane. The box blade is much more versatile overall. I don’t have a grapple yet but may still spring for one. I love my backhoe and use the heck out of it so, it has been a good investment in my case. Quick Attach pallet forks are a must! I use mine all the time. Thanks for another great video! Cheers!
Good morning Martin. LOL. I think I interrupted her before she started ( which is good - she was in my driveway and it is an offense to kill turtles or their eggs here. I would have had to rope off the area of the driveway until they hatched- seriously). Yes, for sure - you do a lot of work with that BH so great value for you and worth it. Currently, I have shifted my thought process, thanks to you. I was going with LX2610 ROPS with a backhoe. Now I have decided to shift the funds to LX2610 CAB and not get the backhoe for now. Loader & Grapple are a must. Sitting patiently on the Kubota waiting list. 😆

Congrats on the new tractor Daniel. You will be very happy having the cab - ac and heat which both work excellent - keeps the bugs off you in the forest and in the winter shelters you from the cold winds and temps. The back hoe would be great in the future and/or you can simply rent an excavator for a day or two when you have a few projects lined up. Cheers!

Great video. I agreed on the splitter and your thought process on attachments. We all want to buy more toys but the trouble is you do have to consider how often you will use it.

Greetings from Wisconsin! Hello my friend, long time no speak. I would just like to chime in and say after my 4yrs of owning my L2501, the most surprising attachment i own is my 72" finish mower. I am still amazed every time I use it the cut I get, and the reduced clumping compared to a side discharge. I still gotta buy my pallet forks. SOOOOOO many uses. I really just wanted to say howdy, and glad you're doing well. God bless.
Great advice...the L3901 came with a ballast box, I bought a grapple and my neighbor gave me a set of forks this past weekend... Great to have good neighbors as you know....cheers

Agree totally with your opinion on the backhoe as on a small tractor they are limited in what they do although still streets ahead of a spade lol. Hiring an excavator when needed is a much more prudent and practical option

Love the turtle in the beginning and ending in this video. We have the same here on our property. You are so right about buying the piece of equipment for your property and the cost/value, etc. For me, the grapple is the best piece of equipment to own, along with the snow blower and rear blade. The fact that we can also mow with the machine opens up many opportunities to improve our land. We are so very lucky to own a tractor with the attachments.

GP. Thanks for the walk through of all your implements. I have been very selective as well and I try to remember that there are places to rent implements for a once a year type of usage. For example, I could go buy a garden tiller for around 2k, or I can rent one once a year for $60 from from the local hardware store.
Every tractor owner will have a different set of implements for their own needs. Thanks for the great videos.

Great commentary on attachments that you do have and you don't have and why. When we do get a newer tractor, I wouldn't be getting a backhoe as we have a neighbor who is very reasonable fees for his huge construction tractor. It would take 15 or 20 years to pay for no more than we would use one. I would suggest that you look into a company called ABI and look at everything they have for for gravel driveways. They even have some tools that combine the use of a box blade, a power rake, a land plane and even a landscaping rake in one tool. We just got the smaller one of these implements that even mounts on the back of a lawn garden tractor or zero turn radius mower. They do a really good job on redoing your driveway and building crowns. They even make a larger one that is made for three-point hitch on a compact or subcompact tractor.

Hey GP! First off, I’d like to congratulate you on an amazing Channel! I’ve been watching for over 2 years now. You were my main resource when looking into purchasing a tractor when I moved from the city to my new 34 acre property in the Laurentians in Quebec. Thanks to your information packed videos I chose the LX2610 just like you and took delivery of it in Dec. 2020! With the tractor, my initial implements were the loader with bucket, a grapple, a box blade as well as a rear facing snow blower. Since then I added pallet forks and a chipper. The only implement that I regretted buying was the Box Blade…. I have approximately 2km of roads around my property that need to be graded several times a year…. I find that the box blade digs in too much and doesn’t level the roads nicely enough. Regarding moving large quantities of materials over long distances, I would rather move the material with my bucket and then go over it with the land plane a few times for a more manicured finish. Having said all of that, I also realized that the LX2610 didn’t quite have the lift capacity that I would have liked for the chores that I had…. When splitting wood, I like to use IBC totes to stack the wood. Unfortunately a full IBC tote of freshly split would is just too heavy for the LX2610. Therefore about a month ago I took delivery of my new MX5400!!! Woohoo!! What a machine! I obviously needed to purchase several of the same attachments that I had for the LX2610 for the MX5400…. Such as the snowblower, the loader & bucket and a larger heavy duty grapple…. When it came to the box blade, I opted for the Land Plane this time…. Unfortunately the grapple and box blade are on back-order until October, but I’m anxiously awaiting their delivery…. Oh! I also ordered a quick-attach implement for the 3 point hitch. Definitely a must for anyone that has more than 1 rear implement in their arsenal. Thanks again for all of your hard work in making new tractor owners better informed and their decisions much easier!!!

Hi Gord, great stuff again ! In watching your video, in particular on your snowblower and feeling I owe you a tip back, I want to offer the following: I noticed your snowblower chute is quiet rusty. On itself nothing is wrong with that. But in my experience and with more and more wet heavy snow we receive (in Quebec at least) it accumulates and obstructs the chute. So a new coat of paint is the remedy to that. I hope you and possibly your subscribers find it useful.

I bought a rotary mower for mowing fields, box blade, pallet forks, boom pole, and grapple over the last two years. The grapple is my go to implement that I use the most. Wow, it is amazing how useful it has become. I would love to add a land plane and landscape rake and scrape blade to the stable, but it just takes time to save up for those.

Great video for the new tractor owners out there. I was also deciding between the box blade and the land plane. I bought the box blade and have used it more than I ever would have used the plane. I have used the box blade to dig drainage trenches, move snow and spread a load of mushroom soil over my garden. I also have a three point splitter (home built) that I am converting to a stand alone splitter so I don't have to tie up a tractor on it. 👍👍👍

model and implements I needed. Along with my B2601 I bought a box blade, root rake, and bush hog.Upfront there's the bucket and much loved grapple.

Excellent overview GP.. I went the opposite direction and got a land plane instead of a box blade because my property doesn't have a need to move a lot of material long distances. I need to be able to mainly rework bare patches in my yard around the pond. so you are spot on when you say it depends on your needs. and yes I would like to be able to have them all. lol cheers

Thanks, GP for the insider view. As a new tractor owner, I have been resisting getting the backhoe as I think I should probably just rent one as well. I have quite a few projects that need a lot of digging. Electrical lines, water lines for the new 40x60 shop, a bridge over a water easement that will allow me to get from the front half of my property to the back half, just to name a few.
yes, rent over purchase for home projects. Mini ex's are way easier to dig with anyway. You get better weekly rental rates and it makes more sense to knock out all your digging projects at once while you have the mess.

For a less expensive hydraulic log skidder, check out norwood sawmills. Excellent product, light rope, not chains, safer to use.
I agree with everything you have said on this video and I run my ship the same way. I hemmed and hawed over one implement which I didn’t think I would use very much boy was I wrong.i sell fire wood and always load with by bucket until I got a fire wood bucket.i get a full bucket load now and I can sift much of the debris out without losing the load . You can use it in garden for digging rocks and clawing out roots and leave all the dirt behind.

Great information Gord. I like your "Business Plan" thinking. I think that way as well. I do small dirt work jobs for hire. If I see an implement that could make me money, I purchase. Currently looking at a used DR brand wood chipper. I have never had a customer ask for chipping service....but if I have it, maybe I can add that to my list of services. Currently have a Kubota B2620. Loader, backhoe, box scraper, brush hog, back blade, self-made carry all, tooth bar, trailer mover, and self designed sod-cutter. Keep the videos coming! Russ. When talking about the land plane you said " Just didn't pass muster for me". Are you former military? Just curious.
A well thought out discussion of why you bought what you did, and why you didn't buy what you didn't. I've kinda wondered if something close to a Norwood Skid-Winch wouldn't be close to something usable for you and the fellas for skidding timber. Not heartbreaking expensive, still handy getting the wood out. Doesn't need an enormous horsepower number either. TH-cam doesn't seem to have much on it though, perhaps a smaller capstan winch isn't as useful as they might appear at first glance. In any case, congrats on 50(.4!)k subscribers!

Anyways big question if anyone has answer. I have bx23s. Skid loader, can’t make it make sense, and I have tried! Thinking lx. The question is with the 33 will it not wind so much? Good points Gord, always thinking practically. I have a brush hog for the 5 acre meadow work I have to do 3-4 times a year. The rear pto snow blower got used a number off times this last winter( with a lot of back and neck strain) the dealer thinks I can do better with a front snow pusher along with my current blower..rather than buying a rear inverted front driving blower, very pricy.. I am going to defer the purchase of my box blade until next spring as we just got the driveway redone today...looks good. My next implement and I should order it in a few weeks, is the root grapple...I am thinking the land pride one over the HLA as it is lighter and I will have more lifting power..I know it’s more money..but I want to use the power of the tractor as much as I can when I really need it. Also, thinking similar lines about the chipper, it’s good for clean up. And like you, I have a stand alone wood splitter, by Champion, we got at Costco on sale. Great logic!! The skidding winch is one I would want if I was doing what you do... But the price would make me pass too.... The price of being practical.

For the case of the skidding winch, I am sure that between all of the people that you harvest trees for firewood, that splitting the cost among them would be a much easier 'business case' to make even though it is only used in one season of the year.
G P you are so right tractors are expensive and attachments are in the long run cost a lot as you say if no money pit get what fits your budget as novice we have things should not have purchased and the storage has cost to protect you investment thank you

Thx for your videos which I follow with great interest. I live in the Laurentians and we get a ton of snow … 4 meters last year. My road is 500 m with a fairly steep hill. Have you encountered any issues climbing hills with the tractor in winter (obviously I would need chains). Thx vm in advance

land plane is a one trick pony, although it does the one trick well.
where as a box blade is a jack of all trades but a master of none IMO

Ok Gord...so...I almost gave you a thumbs down because of what you said about the backhoe attachment. While you may feel that there is little use on YOUR property there is certainly a lot of need for a backhoe on MY property. Not sure how far you are from Haliburton Lake but you are always welcome especially if you need to justify the purchase!
Be warned however, my neighbor just bought a mini excavator so you should act quick! 😂😂😂
