I remember a study was done with women's integration into combat roles. There was a platoon of all men, mixed, all women. They were given all standard infantry jobs such as tabbing however many miles, full kit, then carrying out unit attacks etc. The teams were then ranked. All men first, then the mixed team, then the all women. I'm sure there are some top notch female infantry soldiers/marines, as long as they can carry their weight and do their job to the same standards I'm not fussed

@Naturally toasty the standard has always been different for females. Until recently females have not been involved in combat roles. The one thing that has not changed is the combat standards. Both males and females must complete the same physical and academic standards. Which is why if you are actually in an infantry company you will very rarely see a female. People who have not served do not understand the difference between basic training. Which every marine goes through including the technical jobs such as cyber or airwing where the physical fitness really doesnt matter. Combat training is very very different. The marine corps infantry is not getting soft, and if you arent actively holding an 03 mos you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about

Almost like the standards are based on what we can reasonably expect from a person. Forcing women to meet a standard they physically can't would effectively bar many from service. That's fewer bodies that can fight for our country. Would you rather 50 men or 50 men + 50 women? But I know what you'll say. Because this isn't about standards, it's misogyny.

I've seen integrated training companies for the infantry and none of the females could actually pass the standard for infantrymen, especially on hikes. In the infantry you either haul all your gear, ammo, and weapons systems or you're not in the infantry doesn't matter the sex. The mission is the mission and needs to be done to and above the standard or else you're sacrificing mission critical gear, or sacrificing other guys lives because they have to haul extra weight and gear that others are incapable of carrying.

When I went through in 2018 we were the first company to dip our toe into “integrated training”. We didn’t do anything together per se but we’d do some of the things at the same time as them but segregated completely, except for the hike (I believe it was either a 7 or 10k). We had about 1 female for each 3 male recruits and after the first hour it had completely failed and separated into males about 1k ahead of the females. The issue was there was a news reporter who was going to take a picture at the end of the hike, so we had to slow down for the last click or so in order for them to catch back up and reintegrate. One of the biggest horse and pony shows I’ve seen in the Marines.

  • @HunterBidenscrack

Sounds like this time in fire academy when we were doing an air consumption test and the person with the most time on air was the one girl in the class. which for those that don’t know is you see how much time you have on a single air tank while doing basically a circuit workout but every thing is firefighting related chopping a power pole laying on the ground with an ax, simulating hose pulls by dragging tires on a rope, flipping tractor tires, hitting tires with sledge hammers, climbing stairs with a high rise pack, etc.. all in full gear on air. The instructors were fucking with us because come to find out my company commander was right there when she did her test and she went through one full rotation and when she got back to chopping a power pole for 3 minutes which is what you start out on she couldn’t even pick up the ax, so they let her just walk around until she ran out of air while the men got to actually keep doing the air consumption test. Another giant coincidence is when you look around the class room of other graduating classes, there is always one woman in the graduating class.
We started out with four women and graduated with one. Might be a coincidence or it might be they give women special treatment. 3 of the girls failed written test which if you ask me seems like the one thing they should’ve actually been good at. Almost like they failed on purpose because it was too physically demanding. 🤔😂

No, guys, I'll tell you this, as a marine myself. When I did boot camp, I was in M Co. (Which, at the time, was the only Co to have only males) For the most part of the training was though and really exhausting, we did not have any privileges or special permission, not a single complement. Then, for medical reasons, I was dropped right in the crucible, and I really had a bad time hating myself for being so weak. I was dropped to N Co. Which is a Mix gender Co. as the vast majority of training companies. I was nervous to fail again, but I was surprised at how easy it was. Female recruits were slow as hell, and for hikes, they were ahead of us because the command let them do it that way so that they wouldn't fall out. It was surprisingly easier than the one in M Co. On hikes, female marines rarely get ahead of males because anatomically, their hips are fragile to take long steps, so they have to chop their steps. She is bullshiting you guys.
