Mitutoyo Digital Indicator repair

Recently got a collection Mitutoyo IDC 1012 Digital Indicators which needed repair. This shows a look inside and the (rather easy) fix of the problem. The look inside clearly shows why a Mitutoyo must be more expensive than one of these cheap Chinese imports.

Yes, you can go wrong with Mitutoyo. I recently bought their Absolute digital indicator second hand. It was working when I purchased it. Brought it home, opened the battery cover to see what type does it use. I closed the battery cover and the indicator would no longer power on.

Perhaps the battery is dead ? ... Are you sure it's a real one ? Lots of fakes out there recently. Also with second hand items you never know what the previous owner did with it. I have lot's of (real) Mitutoyo kit and never got disappointed

My 543-261B Digimatic Indicator got sticky stem problem, it is new. Just not used for 4 years.
What could be the problem? How to clean it, what to use to lubricate the stem? Some sort of watchmaker lubricant like MOEBIUS 9010 would work?

I am not an expert, but i would use a bit of graphite as it's dry and does not attract dust. For cleaning, i use just plain alcohol as this is usually ok with most plastic parts.

What is the type and dimensions of springs used/suggested to replace damaged or missing manufacturer springs for the indicators?

Sorry, can't help you with that as i never ordered any spare parts. I am pretty sure there are some specialists out there which know much better than i do.

Hi.Great video.I got Mitutoyo digital indicator 543-263B.There is no battery cover.I tried to put a battery in but no power at all.The battery I used is a LR44...Mitutoyo recommends SR44 battery....any advice on it?Thanks

I think there are some contacts in the battery cover, not quite sure right now, need to look at one.

+Hugo Viljoen ... you see, i am listening ...:-).. in fact, i made a new camera mount so it sits higher and i don't bump the tripod anymore because it is always in the way.
