As you put out these videos Rodian, it is interesting to see how you are actually becoming a better tutor video by video. Purely a compliment! Thank you sir!
Ooop ya bas**d 🤣 had me burst out laughing that. Love these tutorials mate I used to labour on 2 builders for years but they would never show me the trowel so loving learning!
always loved the ol' soldier course... as long as they are laid upright. nice n plumb.... oh yes and I've seen em all over the place.. look at the top and it looks like a bloody staircase sometimes... shows up like a saw thumb… I always run em over windows on top of a lintel. usually 1/2 brick bats etc!!!
Rodian you need to do a video showing how to rectify mistakes after they have been made , without removing laid bricks . Such as out of plumb , out of gauge which can affect joining two pillars above a window or garage door opening Uneven footings etc etc etc.
nice one Rodian! I'm going to have a practice doing arches and maybe a twisted pillar in the garage just wondered if you use a lime mix in your brick work tutorials?
Cheers for tutoring m8 👍 u r becoming better at it every episode. Could you make a video how to build a foundation wall please? (A foot wide one block flat faced with other next to it) Cheers Buddy 👍
"Alright, brick police!" hahahaha Comedy central eat your hear out. Next you'll be doing stand up. Is there anything you can't do mate????? I did the same thing BWSAA did lol. Genius !!!
Is that the size of a metric brick in the UK? In aus theyre 76high 110width and ideally 225-230mm long. Cheaper bricks fluctuate a bit more by the pack Probz a silly question
They are 65mm high, 102.5mm wide and 215mm long. I did some work out in Australia and remember thinking the bricks felt bigger than I was used to. Not a silly question at all bud. The bricks I'm using at the moment arent that cheap but the sizes fluctuate massively! Some almost 20mm longer than others 🤙🏼🧱
You don't have to but I would suggest buying your own is a good idea. You hold the trowel in your hand all day and gerting used to the same one helps in my opinion. Most colleges have tools you can use 🤙🏼🧱
Hey Rodian! Finnish newbie brickie here. Love your videos. I was wondering if you could comment on something I've been curious about. Most Anglo brickies I've seen(in youtube videos) seem to like working with big arse trowels with their mortar spread on plywood boards. I never thought about it much, it's just different how we do it, with the mortar shoveled in these big ol' bins and worked with smaller trowels. Then I saw a video here in TH-cam from an English geezer called Glenn Veness called "Bricklaying Made Easy 1" who laid bricks using the bin method and was kinda adamant about that way being superior. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on all that, as you seem like a thoughtful chap who's open minded about these kinda things. It's an entertaining video anyhoo, y'all should check it: th-cam.com/video/rZmjSBwKeg8/w-d-xo.html
I think it all boils down to personal preference. I much prefer not having to bend down to pick up bricks so that part of the video I agree with. I personally dont like just spreading out enough for one brick, I like spreading out enough for probably 10 bricks at a time. Every brickie works in a slightly different way 🤙🏼🧱
I try to make the videos short enough to not be boring but long enough to get all the details in. Quite difficult finding the perfect balance but I'll keep working on it. Thanks for the feedback🤙🏼🧱

Great vid👌,BTW just about the right amount of waffle also where can I learn to build in 'off bond'
Glad to hear its not too much waffle. To be honest, I've not heard of "off bond". Something I'll have to look up 🤙🏼🧱

All my tutorials use lime mix. Definitely dont want to be hacking away at cement after every tutorial 🤣🤙🏼🧱

Hi Rodian
Don't mean to be picky but them metric are 102.5 wide.
Not being picky buddy, just correct 👍🏻 I've always said 100mm but obviously they are 102.5mm. 🤙🏼🧱
One good video you can do is a grinding out video and how much you have to take out and also repainting the wall
Thanks 👍 👌😁
No worries buddy 🤙🏼🧱

Do you have to buy your own equipment when in college? For example a trowel etc.
You don't have to but I would suggest buying your own is a good idea. You hold the trowel in your hand all day and gerting used to the same one helps in my opinion. Most colleges have tools you can use 🤙🏼🧱

Requested video: How to lay bricks on uneven spots
Yes, very good idea. Added to the list of future vids 🤙🏼🧱
Build a double arch?
Bow that would be a banging video, I'll add it to the list. Cheers Kai 🤙🏼🧱

Jim Newlands we have all seen a few jobs which have needed the brick police 🧱🚔🚨👮♂️😂👍🏼🧱
