I am so glad this video is on TH-cam because I have the DVD and rewinding and replaying it is a hassle.I hope I find other videos from the Brother DVD on TH-cam.
Me 10 Years Ago: In the middle of Afghanistan, dirty, freezing, tired, blowing up targets, starving to death, being told by the doc I'm gonna be dead from my injuries in two weeks. Me Present Day: Learning to use my new sewing machine while being transformed through music into a magical Sailor Moon girl to battle the forces of evil. This has been a very strange journey...
LMAO. Me 20 years ago: Taking too many drugs, raving and mixing with the wrong people. Me today: Learning to sew along with so many other hobbies I've found after buying my own home and enjoying Sailor Moon commentary. My Brother machine arrives tomorrow and I'm looking forward to learning yet another new craft to add to my welding, plumbing, plastering, programming, electronics, latex clothing manufacturing, carpentry, gardening, and general DIY. It has been a busy journey and I live every day like it's my last.
Me: 15yrs ago, Writing 20pg research papers all night long, refusing to quit because I could still hear that useless high school guidance counselor say I should go to secretarial school because I was 'not college material.' only now I was getting a masters degree. Me now, so overwhelmed I'm in tears trying to understand a damned sewing machine that a woman in 3rd world country can use blindfolded. Why can't I get this??
When I first turned on this video, I thought, “what the hell am I watching?” Luckily I fought through my urge to turn it off and successfully threaded my machine and sewed my first stitches. I bought the machine to create bandanas to donate to the local dog shelter, and maybe a few collars for my own dogs. I’m a guy who forgot everything that was taught in middle school home-ec class so this was amazingly helpful. Thanks!
Same and I figured out I had it threaded wrong the first time because of another video 😤 may all your bandanas be flawless and the dogs all be adopted 🎉
I was chuckling because this video reminded me of the 90's or early 2000's in a classroom. Cheesy (yet calming) 90's styled music, calm light voice, but easy as pie instructions that far make this the best sewing tutorial on youtube I have come across. in perspective, I can't sew, but after watching this, i feel that i actually have a shot at sewing. :3 Love the video, and thank-you.
I sew several times a week for my decorating business (custom drapes, pillows, bedding, upholstering, etc) My old machine was giving me fits this morning. So frustrating! I just needed to walk away and do a bit of retail therapy. Hit Goodwill and lucky me, just happened to find a brand new Brother GX37 for only $40...seriously, I don't think it was ever used! Such a deal! Unfortunately, the user manual was missing. TH-cam to the rescue! This video helped me become familiarized with my new machine quickly and I was able to get back to work on my projects. Yay!!
Out of all the sewing videos I've come across. This by far has kept my attention. Seems very easy to follow and provided step by step instructions. I'm looking forward to using my Brother's sewing machine this wknd.
I just about cried when I actually got this machine to work lol. IM SO HAPPY! I had a sewing machine before, but I just could NOT figure the damn thing out so I gave up and have been hand sewing EVERYTHING. Through the process of moving a few times I've lost parts of that machine, so I thought I would try again with a new machine. I saw the price of this sewing machine and read the numerous glowing reviews and just bought it even though I had no real hopes of actually figuring out how to work the thing. BUT I DID!! And it works BEAUTIFULLY! This sewing machine was so easy to set up with the help of this video, so THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!!
My nana gave me an older one that i never used because i was young. I decided at the age of 23 to start a hobby and this video helped with the brother sewing machine i just bought today! It’s very informative!☺️
Bought this machine a few days ago. Choose this one for the price and self threading. I couldn't thread a needle with powerful glasses. Windows 10 has decided it will not play any DVD making the instructional DVD that came with this machine useless, so here I am! THANK YOU so VERY MUCH for this video! I couldn't use this machine at all without you! That self threader makes zero sense to my peanut brain, but I got it to thread by watching you.
I had my machine over a year and just started sewing. You tube videos save my sanity. I’m new to sewing and I made many mask. I just now ran across this amazing video. And I didn’t know to lay the needle thread on top of the fabric. And I have watched others sew. So I was learning from their videos. The way I was sewing was working. I did occasionally have the thread come out extra from the bobbin area. This might be why it was doing it. And my Bobbin wasn’t always working, thanks for that info.
Probably late letting you in on this, but you are a magical girl. You should have been provided instructions for controlling your powers by now, but it might have been for your own protection. Please be careful and have mercy on those who are unaware of your awesome capabilities; they have no idea.
Thank you for the video! I just bought a Brother sewing machine and the instruction manual was beginning to take over my life. This made it a ton easier 💜
I am a retired husband whose wife said, do something while your body lets you (I am 72). She recommended getting a sewing machine. I used her Pfaf machine 20 yrs. ago and need lessons on how to sew with my Brother CP60X. This is helping out a lot. Thanks.
Looooove it! It is so useful! It's been a while since my mom taught me how to use a sewing machine. I have a brother sewing machine that I have never used, today I did a couple of practice tests and did alright. Hopefully with practice I will get better!
This is the easiest tutorial I've seen by far and it's nearly impossible to miss steps. It feels like it was made for people with short attention spans (like me). Thanks for the video!
My mom and brothers got me a sewing machine for Christmas because I do a lot of hand sewing. I'm still nervous learning how to use the machine but this video is extremely helpful!!
Thank you so very much for this video. My neighbor moved and threw out this exact machine. I picked it and plugged it in and it works 100 percent. This is helping me with set up and to see if I'm missing any pieces.
2020 and making masks.... I have never sewn anything in my life but went and bought a sewing machine with no idea what to do with it. Thank god for youtube and people like you who are willing to share knowledge.... thank you so much, this was super easy to follow and now I am sewing!!!

I love this video! Although many of the instructions dont fit my model, The (Brother Bs-2450) i am grateful my Auntie has given me my first ever sewing machine, and i wont give up trying to use it. Yesterday i did cry in frustration but i finally figured out how to properly install the bobbin, Thank you for this cute video, the music is relaxing and peaceful 🥰🌸
i can not give this video so many thanks on how to do your thread it vid was sooo helpful after looking at other vids this one help me a lot and i just want to say thank you
Please someone answer. I have a brother ls 1217. And when I pulled up that extra thread when pulling thread from the bobbin. I didn't know what to do with it. I now have two pieces of thread. Do I sew with both or just one????
Why is there no instruction on how to adjust the presser foot pressure? I find that I can't sew gathers on gauze fabric as the presser foot is pressing too heavily on the fabric which straightens the fabric as it passes under the foot.
this was sooooo helpful, my sewing machine was passed down I LOVE IT i get to make clothes and pillow cases for my daughter thank you so much for this video
Thank you so much for this video, after not having a clue how to set it up I now have a working sewing machine on my first attempt. The instructions are very clear and very well demonstrated.
I just bought one yesterday. My question is what number should each of the setting knobs be set on? I sewed a sample piece and the top looked good but the back was clumpy
I want to know the magic of how the lower thread, which you have pulled to the side before replacing the bobbin cover, gets taken up by that straight needle with the upper thread in it? It's nowhere near it but there's something I;m not getting. Also, the Operating Instructions that came with my mx1010 threads the upper thread differently; the spool is other way up with thread coming out the front of the spool; unfortunately I can't play the dvd that comes with it right now, external drive won't work. Any suggestions?
I keep expecting a jumpscare with all the vhs style horror nowadays. This is such a good video though, I started a tailoring project without ever having sewn before and now have experience in both hand stitching and using a sewing machine
I feel like I'm watching a harvest moon sewing tutorial, but the dub is bad. I like it a lot it's very calming. Thanks for the very detailed explanations!

People disgust me to no end. Stupid comments......atrocious music, woman's voice etc etc. You don't like it? Do your own video and watch all the stupid comments that you receive. People have no class and are not cultured. This girls voice is her voice. NOT YOURS. It's hers. She did an excellent job. As for the music. I love most all kinds of music if it is orchestrated well and performed well. The "music" you hear on the majority of FM stations here in America is junk performed mostly by people that call themselves "musicians" ...just a voice that some talent scout discovered with a pretty face and made millions. That's it! It insults great music and fine musicians who paid a lot of money to study with fine teachers and then practiced their asses off to become fine musicians. What do you know about music? People here are experts on every subject. You tube is a wonderful thing but like everything else in this world it is abused by idiots with foul mouths and hideous comments. this video comes when i bought brother machine since i never be around and new for everything this video was my best teacher to learn by my self even i feel like have a problem with the machine i call for this company and told me i can change it easily to the store where i bought it so i did as fresh this is thev best one thanks a lot
Good video. Learning how to use a sewing machine I bought 6 years ago...and now with this pandemic, I want to make some masks. I think I'm going to be experiencing some of the woes I'm reading from the most recent posts. You have to look at the lighter side. lol. Here we go!
I would have done well to watch this before trying to sew. I was trying to use the written directions. Something went clonk. The machine made a funny electrical noise. It scared me. Until I watched this video, I felt it was just possible my sewing machine was possessed. But I found three crucial things I was doing wrong, and how to fix the clonk. Still afraid of my sewing machine. It goes too fast! But I am entertaining the thought maybe the machine and I could be friends.
I’ve had a cheap JX1200 for about 3 years now and I really like it - serves my purpose. Just found out it has a built in buttonhole maker! Now to experiment. One tip I can offer is I had to put clear tape over my stitch selector button as the paint was coming off. AND if you have trouble with the machine not stitching properly, change your needle. I found out the hard way a simple solution for a big problem.
the 90s vibe got me to pay attention to every second, thanks!

So far among all the videos this is the best video ever I have seen about a demo. Simply great..
I've watched a few Tutorials on TH-cam about the Brother sewing machine. I think this Tutorial is by far THE BEST. 😆
This tutorial is on a DVD if you buy the brother sewing machine. :) It also comes with an instruction manual too.
I love all the comments about the Magical Girl Sailor Moon music, but this really is a good video for figuring out how to thread this darn machine :)

Im actually crying. This is so difficult for no reason😭😭😭😭
Thank you... I found this tutorial very helpful as I have not used my machine for a long time :)
I have new brother js1410. When I start sewing thread cut or stuck thread on speed dial. Please help!!
Really helpful with figuring out my new Brother machine. This is my first time ever using one too! I absolutely loved the music and her voice too!
+Kitty Carousel Thank you for choosing Brother! If there's any more assistance required, do feel free to let us know! :)

Thank you for your help. :-)
Is there a way to speed up or slow down? I feel like it's too fast for someone still learning to sew.
The 90s called, they want their instruction video cassette tape back.
Hello, how are you doing my friend?
Hi do you have a tutorial to use the double needle stitches please. it would be fantastic!
It's 2024 and I'm here watching the tut coz idk how to use my mum's sewing machine 😅

My bottom spool doesn’t make a loop with the upper thread 😢
